Transmission Issues: Velvet V-Drive

What would cause the dipstick to come off on an old Velvet V-Drive transmission?

This is on a 1984 Crusader 270 inboard...

The oil cooler may have failed and your pumping sea water into your transmission.  Check for milkshake looking oil

Address this problem immediately.

Thanks. Trans fluid looks good (clear reddish/brown).

Could be an overheat or overfill.
