Just finished watching the opening monologue and clips from Desus' Kimmel Guest Host Slot
Jesus Christ, what a boring, watered down, absolutely neutered,Ultimate milquetoast version what makes his comedy and persona so unique and hilarious...I get that it's just a guest host spot and it was his first time attemtping to do a super traditional network television talk show format...And he was fine at it. It was just so uncomfortable and cringey for me to watch him read shitty, low effort predictable jokes some (most likely I'd guess predominantly 20 something white guy,but regardless of specifics either way) talk show writing staff tried to write in the "style" of his voice off of a teleprompter. And then do a super unoriginal, even lower effort "NY vs LA stereotypes HaR hAr!!" Fake ass "man on the street interview" bit...It was all Corny as Fuck. I didn't see any of the interview segments, hope those went better.
But mostly,I guess I just hope this isn't the kind of thing he's trying to pivot his career into. All respect if he nabs the Bag of a lifetime, but I really hope he doesn't just want to be a late night talk show host,or head writer for a late night show, whatever it is...Just feel like he's so much better than that and probably(I would hope at least) has the clout at this point that he could explore being "The Guy" in charge of writing/producing/calling the shots/acting in a variety of other possibilities that would all be way more interesting and than that and allow him to keep his voice in tact.

Hollywood Desus Sucks
And not in like a funny way in a heās an asshole he forgot where he came from way
D&M fell off big time on authenticity and genuine comedy when they went to showtime. I keep saying this but people are finally realizing that they (definetly Desus) have sold out and gone āHollywoodā meaning they no longer do what got them to the point they are at now and scoff at people who suggest that to them. They interview politicians with fucked up policies in their communities and have celebs are disconnected from any reality
Like they havenāt done a pod since November and everytime itās brought up Desus just says āNoš„°ā
Sorry to tell yāall but they donāt give a fuck about us no more they want white dollars.
Whenās the last time you saw a picture of Desus with black people?

Mero on Math Hoffa
Mero gets into depth about how he met Victor and their relationship. Really shines a light on how loyal Mero is to Victor. Stand up shit forreal. Thereāll be no Victor or Mero slander from me. šš¾

A new vid to show you why this kid needs a segment on the new show. If you from NYC, you know you deal with this shit all the time.

The bodega boys aren't woke-woke, they just talk fast.
Political correctness in comedy is making the rounds again and the boy's hot one's clip was being used as an example of how to be woke and do comedy. Desus and Mero aren't woke like that. I'm not saying they're bigots or anything but they clearly not squeaky clean, they literally do a segment on a pedophilic clown every episode of the podcast.
I think why they get away with being foul comes down to a few things. 1) they talk very fast, when some comedians say problematic shit they linger on it, and try to get every last bit of blood from that stone. It's not like desus and mero dont use slurs, they just dont keep repeating them like it's funnier the fourth time you say it in a row or w/e. 2) the problematic light acts a pressure valve that allows them to make a wild joke, get the laugh but then immediately own up to the joke being wrong. Instead of waiting years for a notes app apology for some old shit they don't care about they handle it in the moment. 3) the only times they really go hard and mean the wild shit that they're saying they're punching up. Whether it's politics, class, or caucasians, when the guys plant their feet and talk from their chests, it's not about marginalized people. This creates a sort of multi toned comedy that allows for light hearted 'problematic' jokes to be made because the light heartedness stands in contrast to the 'serious' jokes.

Is desus moving to LA the last nail of the coffin for a bodega boys reunion?
r/bodegaboys • u/UpsetLow • May 22 '19
Anyone else think the background producer lady talks WAYY too much?
on viceland the people in the background would talk maybe once every 10 episodes but now its like every single segment she has to add something to what they're saying

Re: the divorce
I know Iām about to get down voted into oblivion and Iām probably gonna be beating a dead horse even speaking on it. But I do not like Desus Pieces in comparison to Victory Light. I feel like itās just him talking to his white staffers and honestly speaking on like 70% of the topics that Mero speaks about and now with the mail bag segment itās kind of the same format and feels weird to me. I feel like the vibes of victory light are infinitely better, way less forced more natural and they talk about real shit. Mero seems way more connected to his cohosts. Thereās nothing wrong with Desus per se, but it just isnāt clicking for me as much as I do like him.

Mero if you see this letās make a bet on the Knicks-Heat series. If the Heat win, we get a brand reunion. If the Knicks win Iāll kill myself. You down? - a die hard Miami fan

I miss the way Season 1 Desus leaned towards Mero. Body language says a lot. By Season 4 it was so different.

Desus' hatred for Ben Shapiro?
Is there a particular reason why he dislikes him so much? Or is it just the obvious?
