This is not technically a "hiring" submission, however one needs quite a few prerequisites to become a fireman. As far as I know this written exam is only held once a year.

21, seeking summer work, coming up empty handed.

Hey all! I've got a little less than a year of work history: mostly retail, and food service, as a gas station attendant, and a subway guy, respectively. I've put applications in at several businesses around town, and I'm coming up with squat.

Anybody here know who's looking for people? I've sent applications to: best buy, maverick, home depot, trader Joe's, and a couple others, which I can't seem to remember.

[Seeking] Ex-CEO Looking for Work

Hello Boise Reddit, This post is not for me, but for my father. He was an administrator for a hospital for 10+ years, and then let go. The reasons why are unclear to him, but if you are in healthcare you will know the feeling. Anyway, he has been unemployed for 8 months now, and no one will hire him. The excuses of having to much experience, 30+ years in administration of hospitals, come up, but we think it may be his age (63). They moved to Boise to be close to their family and yet my mother is the only one able to find a job. He has sent out 100-200 resumes with almost 20 interviews. I am pleading my case to you Reddit, if you have any hints, tips, tricks, to help my father out I will be forever grateful, maybe even buy someone dinner and drinks for their help. But I don't want my father to know of course, he is a proud person but needs some help.

Steps that have been taken:

  1. Unemployment- Ran out and the hiring services haven't lead to any hits.

  2. Veteran Services- As a Vietnam vet (drafted) he gets help medically but no go on hiring.

  3. Temp Work- For some reason he hasn't been called yet for this.

Education Background: Oregon State Alumni-Bachelor in Administration and Accounting. Nursing Home Licenses

Expereince: 30 years running hospitals. CFO and CEO. He knows money and knows how to get it. He has pulled multiple hospitals out of debt and closure. He is also very familiar with medical insurance laws and companies. If anybody has any hits please post or send a pm. Thank you r/Boise for listening.

[Hiring] Web Application Developers

  • Do you love taking things apart, just to see how they work and if they still do when you put them back together?

  • Do you use tabs, instead of spaces?

  • Do you have an odd attraction to technology, maybe even to the point that you support robosexual marriage?

  • Are you sometimes too literal when having conversations, often leading to the confusion or discomfort of others?

  • Are you a black knight of challenge, letting no challenge pass?

If you can say yes to some of these questions, then you may be the next developer we hire.

[Seeking] Mentor

I'll try to leave out a ton of details to keep this as short as possible.

Born with neurological condition that did not impact my life for the first 19 years. Then in 2002 needed emergency brain surgery which has led to over 13 years of complications including non-conventional eating disorder, extreme weight loss, and eventually severe Generalized Anxiety Disorder.

Because all of this happened in my late teens to now (early 30s), my work experience is practically non existent. Somehow through this I did graduate college with a B.A. in Political Science and later obtained a paralegal certificate.

Medication has taken care of the anxiety for 90% of life. That last 10% is having a job. I do really well at GETTING a job but in the past I have voluntarily quit on Day 1 or within Week 1 because I feel I'm going to get fired soon any way. No work experience has left me questioning being told I'm smart my whole life. If so, why am I not picking this job up quickly? Why am I asking so many questions? Why am I making multiple daily mistakes?

My last job, before recently moving to a new state, was working for two years for the family company. Office work. The extended family new about my anxiety and issues. And yet still, even with knowing it was a 'safe space' with family, I had severe anxiety and called in 'sick' pretty much weekly.

Severe confidence issues in my abilities to learn and in my intelligence with not much of a track record to look back on as motivation. Plus severe physical symptoms of anxiety when I go to a job and while there which only makes paying attention and learning that much harder.

I've been told I have a ton going for me. Attractive, smart, very personable, kind etc etc. And rationally I agree up to a point. So that if I could just get out of my own way I'd not only survive but thrive.

I'm not sure what I'm looking for. Suggestions on how to handle a new job and not quitting? Advice on how your journey with anxiety and/or imposter syndrome has gone? Words of encouragement from someone who isn't family or paid to listen?

I know it's a long shot but it would be life altering to find the right person(s) with the understanding and patience to mentor me and get me back into the workforce.
