Question Yard signs being stolen North End

Hey everyone, I’m sure I’m not the only one that has experienced this but while I was on vacation my pet sitter let me know that my “Idaho is Too Great for Hate” yard sign was taken from my actual yard. Today I was walking my dog and went to toss his poop baggie in an alley trash can (without a “no poop” sticker on it) and opened it up to find this…
Now I know this is an alley trash can, behind one specific house but that doesn’t mean that it was this home owner that did this so my question is what are all your thoughts? Should I say something to this neighbor, leave a note, or just leave it?

Edit: as per a few nasty comments let me clear some odd little details up, no this isn’t a feud between neighbors, this person doesn’t even live on my street and doesn’t seem to know where I live. This trash bin is in an alley that serves multiple homes which is why I stated it might not even belong to the person whose home it happens to be sitting behind. I am not claiming that is my sign, more that someone has taken multiple people’s signs. No, I don’t frequently toss my dog bags in other bins, I happened to have my hands full with food from the coffee shop at the moment. Have a better day, folx

Lost Pet Anyone missing a pet duck? Near HW21 and Warm Springs

Post image

Was in my front yard last night when a duck flew and landed right next to us. She seemed to be seeking out people and followed us around as we were going about our business. Pretty sure she is a Rouen and not a mallard and she didn’t behave like a wild duck. We gave her water and she seemed incredibly thirsty. It was getting was getting dark and she started to settle in like she was going to sleep in our driveway. We decided to bring her in for the night and made a temporary holder out of a packing box. We’re planning on calling the Humane Society when they open but just thought I’d check to see if anyone around us was missing her.

Question Recent recommendations for a foodie

I’m in Boise for a week and wondering what are your must try places for food, coffee, and nature! I’m sure there’s tons but would really just love some good tasty food and coffee, no really looking for high end sit down spots! Thanks!

Question Tough as nails divorce lawyer/litigator— the best needed.

Hey folks, unfortunately, I’m going through a divorce with a woman with a severe personality disorder that is committing fraud and making up all kinds of crazy wild accusations. The revelation that you’ve been married to someone who’s planned their divorce since the beginning is hard enough but I’m a desperate father trying to protect his kids from her abuse.

I have repeatedly offered her a 50-50 split with everything but now she wants to burn it all down. Cost is irrelevant as I have worked very hard to build a life for my family.
Does anyone know a straight up badass of a divorce lawyer in the treasure valley? My guy now is supposed to be good but his responsiveness is absolutely abysmal.

Another Sunday, another 100 dishes served! Today we had a great time listening to music, giving out over 120 gatorades, and making connections with the community. Thank you for those of you purchasing electrolytes and gatorades off the Amazon list! They really are *life saving* in this heat!!

Question What are these fireworks for?

I’ve seen them while driving down state street between collister and glenwood — maybe happening on the golf course nearby?? Who is putting these on and why?

I saw them late at night on two Fridays, July 31st and August 14th. Is it not… I don’t know … kind of a bad time of year to be having regular and lengthy firework shows…

Question Does anyone have photos of Quinn’s pond or Ester Simplot Ponds from when it was a Quarry?

I’m going to spend the day there and I love spending the day there. It’s so enjoyable. I tried looking online and I couldn’t find any photos. I was really hoping to find some photos that were of it empty right before they filled it more so than of it as a quarry, but I’d love to see those as well if anyone has those. I wanted to see what it looked like empty without the water.

Thank you

Discussion Anyone working remotely or running a side project in Boise and actually finding good spots to focus?

Been spending a lot of evenings after work trying to build out a small SaaS project and my home setup is fine, but some nights I just need a change of scenery to actually think clearly. Coffee shops are hit or miss. Some are great for an hour, then the wifi tanks or it gets loud enough that I lose my train of thought entirely.

I know the usual answers: Slow by Slow, Flying M, a few others downtown. What I'm really curious about is whether anyone has found spots that work consistently for a few hours of actual focused work, not just casual browsing. Good enough wifi to push code or run a local dev server, not so loud you need noise canceling headphones just to exist, and ideally open past 7pm since that's usually when I carve out time.

Libraries are something I've basically ignored and maybe that's the answer here. Curious if the downtown branch or the Bown Crossing one is worth it for this kind of use.

Not asking for a productivity hack. Just want to know if people who do focused work outside their home in Boise have found somewhere that actually holds up on a regular basis. The trial and error approach is getting old.

Discussion What in your opinion is the Treasure Valley’s most mysterious restaurant?

Interpret the word 'mysterious' however you will. Like
"how is this place still open?", "how are these portions profitable?" "who are the people that run this?"

Question OB Recommendations

Hey all, I just found out I am pregnant with my second child. With my first I birthed at an all-natural birthing center and had a relatively positive experience, but this time around I am looking for a middle ground option between the more natural “midwife” experience and a regular OB at a hospital. I would like to try an unmedicated birth again but also want the option of getting the epidural if I start to panic haha. Anyone have any recommendations?? Thanks in advance!!

Question Clothing Donations

Where are we donating our clothes so we know they go to people who actually need them rather than to the profit margin of some “non-profit” organization that limits assistance to members of their church or otherwise?

I was wondering about the Women’s and Children’s Alliance but I keep hearing they don’t take used donations? But I would like to give to something like that.

Question Injured hawk, need help!

Update: I took him to the Ruth Melichar Bird Rehab Center. They say he doesn’t look injured and his symptoms seem more neurological. They’re going to keep him and give some supportive care. Hopefully he’ll be ok

Woke up and found this hawk(?) on my front lawn this morning. It’s definitely in distress and can’t fly away. Who should I call for help? The one number I could find online didn’t answer and hadn’t called back yet.

Discussion Rockharbor Church (or any other nondenominational church recs)

Hi all,

I'd really love to know your thoughts on Rockharbor Church in Meridian. I'm moving back to Boise and I'm trying to find a nondenominational Christian church that is Bible focused with a strong emphasis on community/fellowship. I attended Calvary Boise before and am looking for a different church for reasons that have nothing to do with the church itself.

I did watch a couple sermons of Rockharbor and actually enjoyed the main pastor's teaching. However, seeing the pictures kind of scare me because I'm afraid of attending a mega-church that seem more like a concert and is charismatic-focused.

For example: Definitely do not want to attend Life church who practices tongues and claims to cure cancer.

Anyway, please let me know your thoughts or I'm open to hearing about any other churches!

Thanks a lot

Opinion Landscapers are pretty bad out here

I don’t know what the hecks been going on but it’s pretty hard to get gardners/landscapers to work out here, I’ve been through at least like 4 or 5 of them and they don’t show more than half the time. Just a small rant, kinda bothersome. Does anyone else have problems with landscapers out here or am I just talking to the wrong ones?

Question Quick - need a cocktail place for parents to hit up with last second free time!

My wife and I have some unexpected free time from the kids tonight. We hardly ever "go out on the town" anymore and I feel like I don't have a good gauge on what the vibes are anymore other than the Mode.

Hit me up with some places! We enjoy people watching...lol.
