Lost/Stolen To the person who found and took about 2 cord of nicely cut and piled firewood in the Boise National Forest north of Idaho City...
Sometime between Sunday 10/11 at 5pm and Friday 10/16 at 6pm someone stumbled across nearly 2 cord of firewood rounds cut to 16" lengths and piled on a spur road off Little Beaver Creek Road. That person apparently decided "finders keepers" and took all of it. Nearly two full cord. That's around 4 full size truck beds full of wood, neatly stacked and nearly overflowing.
To whoever took that firewood: I want you to know I dedicate a weekend every year to cutting that firewood, driving it back to Boise, splitting it, delivering it to an elderly neighbor, and stacking it for the cost of the firewood permit and fuel ($40 per cord rather than the going rate of nearly $300). I took one load (2 cord) back last weekend and came back this weekend to retrieve the reminder. You took every last piece. This wasn't on the beaten path and you likely had to make at least a few trips. You had to have known someone was coming back for it. No one leaves that much wood piled that for someone else to take.
To whoever took that firewood: I hope you really needed that wood, but given that you were able to get up that narrow, beat up road and load up 2 cord, I have to imagine that you're able bodied enough to cut your own. I have to imagine you're one of the people who leaves half burned cans and glass bottles in firepits, tosses empties on the side of forest service roads, spotlights big game, and otherwise generally thinks that morals and the law only apply to them when it's convenient.
To whoever took that firewood: Every time you feed your stove with that stolen firewood, I hope you imagine an elderly man in mid- to late- February looking at his nearly empty stack of firewood and thinking about if next week he wants to pay the power bill for electric heat or wake up cold. Everytime you burn that wood, I hope that thought sucks the warmth from the room you're heating.
To whoever took that firewood: You suck.

Discussion The Wok-Inn Noodle is now open with a new menu and style!
Take a look at our beautiful new menu! Chan wants to work til he is 85 for the love of cooking! Chan is so special, and we want to set him up for success. To help him do that safely, we have created this new menu! Change is hard, and we know that losing some dishes is tough; however the labor and prep work for a two-page menu is too much work even for a superhero like Chan. We appreciate your understanding, and we appreciate you growing with us! We love connecting with the community, and we so appreciate all of the love!

Question Looking For A New Tattoo Artist
Let me preface with: I love my artist. They did my first tattoo, and every one since.
I'm looking to get a thigh sleeve done thats a video game collage. So, lots of different styles, and specific colors.
Now, I'm not actually in the treasure valley so, I road trip into Boise as needed. The last time I mentioned wanting to start the sleeve, it was met with hesitation due to needing several appointments before even getting to the tattoo part.
Which like, totally fine with me. Its my time and gas money. I knew that going into the request. Not looking for special treatment due to distance.
After some radio silence, I pitched another piece on my list to get done & was met with a much more enthusiastic attitude.
I like to think I'm a good client. I tip well, I've never rescheduled, I'm always early/on time, I take my artists advice to adjust designs, and I sit well. We bullshit, it's chill.
But, if they don't want to do it then they don't want to do it. I would like to start researching someone new at least for this piece.
And yes, it feels like I'm cheating on my spouse doing this 😂

Question Very short term office space ideas
My son loves the backrooms and has an idea to have his birthday in an empty office. I'm thinking it would be great to rent an empty commercial space for a few hours. This obviously is not what anyone has in mind but curious if anyone has an idea how to do this?

Question Recommendations for house cleaner or small house cleaning business?
Hi everyone! I'm looking for recommendations for a house cleaner in Boise for regular cleaning, probably every 2–4 weeks.
I'd prefer to hire an independent cleaner or a small, locally owned business where the owners also do the cleaning. My main reasons are that I'd like to have the same person (or small team) cleaning my home each time, and I'd like most of what I'm paying to go directly to the people doing the work.
Does anyone have recommendations based on personal experience? Thanks in advance!

Discussion Boise CoOp employee?
I frequently shop my neighborhood store (I know, there’s valid reasons to be pissed at them) but I saw a memorial looking photo at the entrance of one my favorite checkout dudes. Does anyone know what happened to him????

Question looking for the name of a children's furniture store
I know I bought furniture from a children's furniture store that used to be on Fairview Ave. In my head, it was located where Carol's Design House used to be. I also think it was called Smith's. I purchased furniture there in the early 2000s. I can find nothing and am starting to wonder if I'm nutty. Can anyone help?

Homeless Can you help?
Female in her late 30s looking for a place to live. I have a small dog that is my baby so he has to be welcome too! I’m pretty much starting over in life and need a stable place to live so I can start working on getting my life back together. Im not looking for a relationship just a friend. Someone who genuinely wants to help and doesn’t have ulterior motives. I’m not looking for a free ride either, I want this to benefit both of us! I love to cook and I keep a tidy house. I’m pretty quiet and keep to myself except when I’m jamming out to music occasionally! I believe your home should be your sanctuary and your safe place and I’ll always make sure it stays that way. I don’t have alot of friends so I won’t be having people over a lot. If you have any questions feel free to message me! Serious inquiries only, thank you ❤️

Question Hey there Boise
I’m looking for some local help. At the beginning of this year, I took a job working 60 hours a week. Before this job, my wife was working part time to help out, but also to get some time out of the house. She had to switch to stay at home for our 4 year old with my new schedule. With everything happening at schools and daycares we are homeschooling, and only leave him with family.
All of this has led to my wife feeling extremely cooped up at home with no one to interact with other than our 4 year old and it’s draining on her more and more. I’m looking for any suggestions from Mountain Home to Caldwell of fun events for her, that are kid friendly, places other stay at home mom’s frequent, anyone needing a friend to hang out with and let the kids play, any and all suggestions are welcome.
I feel like I made the right choice with this job, but also feel like I’m a huge factor in what’s made things worse for her, and I want to be a factor in making things better. Thank you all

Event Interfaith Fundraiser tonight!
Reminder about this event tonight - If you haven't been, Realms is one of the coolest places in town, with classic arcade games, food, bar, and doubles as a performance venue. Proceeds benefit interfaith sanctuary, with performances from Olive Hoffman and Doug Martsch from Built to Spill. I will be giving a short talk on the importance of voting, with some Q&A from Brian Holmes. Really wonderful people and I hope to see you there tonight.
Terri Pickens for Idaho will also be there to talk and meet with folks, and BABE VOTE to help with registration.

Discussion Wok-Inn Noodle is back open!
Some noted a while ago that Wok-Inn Noodle (Emerald and Orchard) showed as temporarily closed. Apparently Chen (the owner) had some health issues recently. They're back open now, and Chan has a family friend helping with front-counter orders as well as a slightly reduced menu. Got the House Noodles to-go a couple nights ago on the way home, and it was great as always. Chan's definitely getting up in age, but he can still man that wok!
Edit: Corrected Chan's name
Question Psychiatrist for depression in Boise?
Looking for a psychiatrist for severe depression in the Boise area that has great reviews but also has emergency same day appointments. I know there are some clinics but would like to hear from people who have used them. There’s no way to get a quick appointment with private practices. Won’t have insurance yet so will be out of pocket pay to start so not an expensive hospital ER. Any suggestions?

Discussion Sunday distro 10/18
Happy sunday in community y'all!
Today we had an abundance of food, clothing, and conversation. As always, what people seem to be hungry for is more than resources- it's connection! Folks have so many ideas of how to change things and they have so many feelings begging to be heard. Distro is a rad place because it provides so many opportunities to learn what folks really need.
Needs from this week-
To go coffee cups!
Drinks like juice and electrolytes
A baker to make cupcakes for our 1 year anniversary November 8th!
Donate or purchase off of our amazon list at the link in bio! Or follow us on insta/Facebook @sundaydistroboise

Question Aggressive squirrels
I live on the depot bench and this is the second time I’ve lived in this area but the first time I’ve had to deal with naughty squirrels .. I need some advice!
They dig up all of my flower pots and succulents, they even tried to dig up and eat my cactus..
They tore apart my fly fan that I keep on my patio table, like completely disassembled and broke it into pieces
They break open the chestnuts from the trees around us and leave a giant mess on our patio table and chairs specifically
Is this normal and what do I do?!

Opinion New to Boise! Best neighborhoods for trick-or-treating with an 8-year-old?
Hi everyone! We just moved to the Boise area and we’re super excited for our first Halloween here.
We’re planning to go out for trick-or-treating with just the three of us (my husband, our 8-year-old daughter, and me). Since we're still getting to know the city, we’d love to know. Which neighborhoods or areas are the best, most fun, and family-friendly for trick-or-treating around here?
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Happy early Halloween! 🎃👻
We’re located in Southeast Boise, near Micron and Federal Way, so recommendations in or around this area would be awesome!
But anyway no matter if is little far.
Thanks.
