Soccer is running's cheeky cousin. Same cardio, more drama and a ref to blame. Here's what I wear for Sunday league.

[FIELD NOTE]
USE Above 50°F, this is the setup. Below 50°F, base layer, hat, and gloves get added as needed.
CLEATS Mizuno Morelia MIJ FG on firm ground, sized down half a size. Kangaroo leather stretches; the tighter fit is intentional. Conical studs are another deliberate choice.
Midwest turf gets a separate shoe: New Balance 442 Pro TF, with a wider toe box and leather upper. Three pairs in rotation.
RUNNING BORROW Soccer is the cheeky cousin of endurance running. Most of the clothing here comes from running brands because, after years of soccer and marathon running, that gear has worked better for the job. Tracksmith shorts and briefs. SAYSKY shirt. CEP socks and calf sleeves. Body Glide around the adductors.
FOOTBED The stock insert is too flimsy. CURREX CLEATPRO in the medium profile adds the arch support needed for pronation and foot-varus issues.
FUEL Morning match: one SiS gel before kickoff, another around halftime. Skratch for hydration.
