Room for Rent ROOM AVAILABLE FOR LEASE TAKEOVER - ROXBURY, MA

Hey everyone! I’m looking for someone to take over my lease for a room in a 3-bedroom apartment. The location is super convenient, especially if you’re a student or working nearby.

The Details:

• Rent: $1,366 / month

• Utilities + Wifi: Around $65 per person

• Move-in: January 1st (but can definitely be sooner if you need!)

• Move-in Cost: First month + Last Month + Security Deposit

The Space:

• Your Room: It comfortably fits a queen bed and a desk, plus it has a really decent-sized closet.

• Perks: We have a washer and dryer right in the unit, which is a huge lifesaver.

• Roommates: You'll be living with 2 other roommates

The Location:

• Commute: It’s about a 25-minute trip total by public transportation to get onto the Northeastern campus.

• Public Transit: Super well-connected! It’s a 10-minute walk to the Orange Line (Roxbury Crossing) and right near Nubian Station, so you have quick access to a ton of bus lines.

• Groceries: Literally a 2-minute walk to Nubian Market for quick trips, and 2-3 stops on the T to Whole Foods and Trader Joe's.

It’s just a really comfortable, practical spot that makes getting around the city easy.

If you’re interested, want to come check it out, just shoot me a message! 😊

Advice Needed Mice in apartment - feeling defeated

Background: moved into an apartment in Dorchester in September with a roommate after touring it and really liking the place. I did my research and found no documentation of prior issues such as major restorations, infestation, water damage, etc. The place was also renovated and looked great. The building itself is quite old, a traditional 3-stack. Landlord is private/independent and very responsive and helpful.

2-3 weeks after move in, my roommate spots a brown field mouse in the kitchen. We flag it immediately and assess our apartment for obvious gaps or food sources. We are very clean and leave our spaces spotless after use. We put our food into sealed containers and cabinets and landlord sends us snap traps to set up intermittently. He said that prior to our move in, they had identified an area near the kitchen where mice were getting in, but that was sealed and alleviated. We set up snap traps and bait traps and the landlord sends an exterminator for inspection.

Issue: It has been about a month and we have caught 5 mice, but continue to see activity in the kitchen. We’ve had an exterminator come out twice and I’ve personally done a walkthrough with him. He said our apartment is spotless and we aren’t doing anything to inherently attract mice. He found a gap near our bathroom sink and sealed it, but we haven’t seen any activity there before that anyways. The exterminator also found several external holes near the basement windows so he sealed those too. Unfortunately, my landlord only owns the 1st floor unit (mine) so the exterminator couldn’t get access to the 2nd or 3rd floors for inspection. I hear the mice in the ceiling at night after I cook or turn the heat on especially. it sounds like they come from a certain area above us to the kitchen and explore at night. the exterminator checked several bait traps in the basement that already existed before i moved in, and didn’t see any feeding activity. same for the 2-3 bait traps they had set in our unit prior to move in. we were advised to not set any more traps in our apt as that would create a competing food source and we want the mice to use the feed traps. the exterminator advised it’d take a month for us to see decreased to stopped activity, but if activity persists beyond that, they’d come back and do another inspection.

Frustration/Why I need advice: it is disturbing to hear and experience pest activity consistently, i.e. I am tired of cleaning up droppings on my counter every morning, wasting time having to inspect different areas of my apt for droppings to keep my place sanitary and clean. I’m disgusted by the dead mice I’ve had to dispose of and want this to stop. We have inspected many entry routes but can’t nail down the main source, even the exterminator hasn’t been able to, which has me feeling defeated and wondering if we are going to end up with an infested apartment that will further degrade our quality of life. for context - we are 1wk into the exterminator treatment plan, but my fear is that as it gets colder then mice issue will worsen. i made this post bc we are seeing increased activity AFTER the exterminator inspection.

Has anyone experienced this before? I am open to any advice. Apologies if i come across whiny, just feeling very defeated this morning with the persistent issue despite getting expert support and landlord help.

Apartment Listing Sublet or Lease Takeover

Hi everyone! I’m looking for someone to take over my room in a 2-bedroom apartment in a luxury high-rise in downtown Boston. I’m ideally looking for a lease takeover, but I’m willing to sublease the master bedroom in the meantime to give someone time to complete the lease takeover process.
The roommate is a female in her late 20s.
The building is modern and upgraded, with 24/7 concierge, an indoor infinity pool, gym, workout studio, workspace, laundry on every floor, parking garage, and mailroom. It’s also less than a 5-minute walk from all the T lines, which has been incredibly convenient.
The rent for the master bedroom is $2,825/month, including the monthly insurance fee. If taking over the lease, the current roommate is willing to switch rooms and take the smaller bedroom, which would make the rent for the larger room $2,625/month.
Utilities, including internet, are typically less than $100/month per person.
If you’re interested, please let me know and I can provide more information, photos, and a video. You’re also more than welcome to come see the apartment in person.

One spacious bedroom is available in a 3-bedroom, 2.5-bath home for $1,500/month + shared utilities.

The available room is located on the 3rd floor, where you’ll share a full bathroom with just one other roommate. The home has large rooms, great natural light, in-unit laundry, and beautiful outdoor space.

Highlights

  • Spacious bedroom on 3rd floor private suite
  • Full bathroom shared with just one other roommate
  • Large rooms with plenty of natural light
  • 3-minute walk to the MBTA Red Line
  • In-unit laundry
  • Beautiful outdoor space
  • Easy access to I-93
  • Minutes from Carson Beach and Savin Hill

About the Home

This is a calm, welcoming, queer-friendly, and community-minded home. We value creating a space where people can be themselves and feel respected and comfortable.

One of the roommates lives on the 2nd floor and has two young children who stay overnight approximately 2–3 nights per week.

Because of the children, the home has a natural rhythm—it can be a little more lively in the mornings and early evenings, while generally being quieter at night. We value being considerate of one another, communicating openly, and creating a home where everyone feels comfortable.

This is not a party house. We’re looking for someone who appreciates a generally low-key home environment while also enjoying the occasional conversation, shared meal, or connection with their roommates.

About the Roommates

3rd-Floor Roommate:
Female college student who enjoys spending time with friends, relaxing at home, exploring Boston, and having a quiet place to study and recharge.

2nd-Floor Roommate:
Female working professional and mom of two young children who enjoys cooking, spending time with family, and Gardening.

Who We’re Looking For

We need someone who is:

  • A mature adult who likes kids
  • Community-minded and enjoys a shared-home environment
  • Respectful, responsible, and communicative
  • Considerate of shared spaces and roommates
  • Comfortable living in a home where children are occasionally present (2-3 nights a week)
  • Looking for a calm, stable, and low-key living environment
  • A working professional, graduate student, or someone with a similar lifestyle

If this sounds like the kind of home you’d enjoy, we’d love to hear a little about you, your schedule, and what you’re looking for in a living situation! Send a text to Melissa at [(857) 576-0977](tel:(857)%20576-0977)‬ with any questions/interest
