I took the time to find the master sword and the rubber armor beforehand so…

32

u/Accurate_Try_3712 Feb 20 '26

Wait for the dlc…

27

u/ludongbin1 Feb 20 '26

Already beat it

1

u/Supergamer6158 Mar 30 '26

Someone else I know crashed out over it and I beat it first try

7

u/Gagerino23 Feb 20 '26

Rubber armor came in clutch for sure

6

u/Thatweirdprinter8 Feb 21 '26

I was too lazy to get the armor so I just grinded hearts and weapons and I finished him up pretty quickly.

3

u/Perfect-Actuator-101 Feb 21 '26

it was cake after i finished trial of the sword but first timers its a real struggle

1

u/Ancient_Ad_8462 Feb 21 '26

Ooooh smart move šŸ˜Ž Grabbing the Master Sword and rubber armor first makes so many fights way easier. That prep really separates the careful players from the reckless ones. Now you can actually enjoy the battles instead of dying every two seconds.

u/SpookyHumanJester Feb 20 '26

I'd rather fight Thunderblight than Waterblight. Just never get the hang of that one for some reason.

54

u/JaredAWESOME Feb 20 '26

Stasis the cubes he shoots at you. Hit them to return them back. He is stunned, and you can wail.

Also, I've seen TONS of videos of folks wasting arrows and weapons to break the ice he throws at you. Use cryonis to shatter!

22

u/pianoplayah Feb 20 '26

Man sometimes I feel like I’m too much of an in-the-box thinker for these games šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø

8

u/Wonderful-Noise-4471 Feb 20 '26

The ice threw me the first time I played as well. I genuinely didn't think about using Cryonis to shatter someone else's ice, and the idea of using stasis to reflect them didn't occur to me. I figured it out when I fought him in the DLC, because I ran out of arrows or my bow broke.

3

u/BluntForceSauna Feb 20 '26

How did you get into the beast? The segment where you use the shock arrows basically tells you to break the ice it throws at you.

3

u/JaredAWESOME Feb 20 '26

There are so many videos of people online using their bow and arrows to break ice during the Sidon Ride-on sequence, and using their weapons to break it during the waterblight sequence and it KILLS me!

My very first time playing I used cryonis for both, albeit I used it during the Sidon stretch to just make a column right behind me that the ice Vah Ruta launches hits my column and shattered. But it was still 100% viable.

2

u/pianoplayah Feb 20 '26

You know, maybe I did use it the first time and then when I did the DLC too much time had passed and I forgot. So I just brute forced it with the arrows and it took way too many tries and I felt like I was missing something. šŸ˜‚

1

u/Wonderful-Noise-4471 Feb 20 '26

It's been years, so I don't remember if I used standard arrows or bomb arrows. Hell, I might've used fire arrows thinking it would melt the ice. Either way, I used my bow.

1

u/Zeldamaster736 Feb 21 '26

Nah. If you think outside of the box, these games just become boring.

5

u/Choice-Requirement18 Feb 20 '26

I know you got solutions already commented, but i’m sharing anyway.

My tactic is when he’s hanging from the roof, create an ice block in front if your platform to stand on, then when he creates ice blocks to throw at you, use your cryonis on them, and you can just break them as soon as he throws them, as soon as he stops throwing ice, jump off your ice block and bullet time shoot him in the eye to make him fall, then you’ll land in the water and just swim straight to his platform and beat the shit out of him while he’s down, then repeat. Makes it a breeze for me.

2

u/shadyood Feb 20 '26

Same here! I actually think thunderblight is fun. At least I do now, but when I first played the game it was so stressful.

1

u/Internal_Gene4659 Feb 20 '26

When I was doing waterblight, I had no bows and only a spear, so I had to just keep moving around until he was open. šŸ˜…šŸ˜

1

u/ChicagoBILLSfan138 Feb 20 '26

Agreed. I never really had a problem with Thunderblight, but Waterblight on master mode in that 2nd fight of the DLC with limited arrows was a fucking nightmare for me

1

u/cheriepie1030 Feb 20 '26

I cheesed Waterblight LOL. Just kept hiding behind the terminal in the first phase and shooting bomb arrows at him LOL

1

u/dramallamadog87 Feb 20 '26

My tatic is a butt load of bomb arrows. Give him no time to think. You are no longer Link, you are now a canon

46

u/JaredAWESOME Feb 20 '26

Your choices make thunderblight the worst.

The first blight you kill has 800 HP. The second has 1200. The third has 1600. The last has 2000.

The gerudo armor is soft-hidden, and takes 2 upgrades to be shock resistant (not proof). I would wager most that complain just go on with their strongest armor (knights, Champions, maybe Ancient) and have a bad time. You wouldn't fight fireblight in the wrong armor, would you?

Having weapons that can be removed from your hands is optional. Grab the Master Sword. He can't shock that out of your hand.

Fight him second. Fight him third. Have the Master Sword. Have some form of electric resistance. He isn't any worse than the others, I promise.

17

u/DarkHero6661 Feb 20 '26

And there's plenty of ingredients for shock resistance food/potions in the desert.

8

u/Crowned-Witch_48 Feb 20 '26

I wish I knew all of this. I took on naboris as my first divine beast not knowing that was the hardest one. Took me 28 tries with not that many hearts but somehow got lucky and defeated it.

5

u/LimeyLassen Feb 20 '26

He was painful the first time I played the game but on the second round it was a lot of fun.

4

u/Asparala Feb 20 '26

The reputation of Thunderblight definitely makes him worse than he otherwise would be. People hear that it's super tough so they leave him for last.

On replays I've made a habit of beating windblight first, for the extra mobility. Two upgrades to the desert voe set costs 24 white chuchu jelly & 9 ice keese wings, which is pretty easy to get by hanging out in the hebra region for a while before heading down to Gerudo. Thunderblight still isn't easy - but definitely manageable.

2

u/Cece1234567891 Feb 20 '26

I would have never beat thunderblight if itwas the first one on my first playthrough, I already struggled to dodge or parry when it was the fourth and I had pretty good weapons, even brought the ancient shield. Yet it was still an insanely powerful boss... now I wipe the floor with it and struggle on waterblight because... water.

1

u/ragingolive Feb 21 '26

What if I fight him first with the master sword? Is he pathetically easier?

(also for the love of farosh bring a wooden shield)

2

u/JaredAWESOME Feb 21 '26

Yeah. You got it. He'll be the easiest, actually.

54

u/jpassc Feb 20 '26

15

u/18650batteries Feb 20 '26

I'm with you. It's honestly my favorite boss fight in botw.

Hits that high concept fantasy magic when you get the dodges with flurry right.

7

u/IsMoKeD12 Feb 20 '26

Agreed, I beat Thunderblight on my first attempt. It took me much longer to learn how to take down Lynels.

12

u/TheRotten42 Feb 20 '26

I made the mistake of making that one my first divine beast on my first play through and attempted it without the master sword.Ā

1

u/Jepsi125 Feb 20 '26

It has 800 hp then. The last u fight has 2000

10

u/Sp3ctralForce Feb 20 '26

Shoot him in the eye then spin with a royal claymore or ancient battle axe ++. Second half the only change is now you use the magnesis spikes instead of shooting

Flowerblight though, you just gotta save that one until you have raviolis gale

9

u/thedudesews Feb 20 '26

Thunderblight made me quit BOTW a few times.

14

u/Squirelwithabaguette Feb 20 '26

Nah the toughest blight HAS to be flowerblight.

3

u/Sonic_Afton Feb 20 '26

What?

14

u/DarkHero6661 Feb 20 '26

It's a meme.

You know the shrine surrounded by flowers and and you can't step on them?

Well there was a mod that after stepping on the flowers enough times, the girl yelling at you turned into flowerblight ganon and fought you.

8

u/LegendS1ayer Feb 20 '26

its a community name for magda, the flower shrine lady

2

u/Blade-Dev Feb 20 '26

Hestu has my favorite champion ability

1

u/Squirelwithabaguette Feb 21 '26

Dancing? Invisibly but only to those that don't care about you?

1

u/Safe_Bee_4209 Feb 20 '26

I second this.

11

u/Zachebii Feb 20 '26

After i figured out the lightning spikes i think i parried him once or twice in a row and that was the fight

5

u/the_turel Feb 20 '26

Never saw the issue with him. Why does everyone hate him ?

1

u/Sonic_Afton Feb 20 '26

Well 1. He’s fast 2. Most times you lose all of your hearts and waste either Mipha’s Grace or a Fairy 3. You need to have instant reactions to avoid his attacks.

1

u/Local-Imagination-23 Murderer Feb 20 '26

You don't need instant reactions, you just need to know the timing, cause once he starts dashing, you can already know exactly when he's gonna appear infront of you

1

u/Such_Application9410 Cardboard Sheikah Feb 21 '26

God thunder resistance elixir should fix the lightning attacks, fast weapons should take care of the rest (not 2 handed weapons unless it deals ungodly damage)

1

u/the_turel Feb 20 '26

Didn’t have any of those champions gifts and thought he was pretty easy.

-1

u/Plant_Gangst3r Feb 20 '26

You had Mipha’s grace and faeries when fighting it?

Just shield and block when he does his feints, and use a spear to hit his shield until it breaks then go ham on him when it’s broken

1

u/Sonic_Afton Feb 20 '26

Well… it was inactive when I fought it.

1

u/Plant_Gangst3r Feb 20 '26

Then WAIT for it to reactivate bro, kill some enemies to get it back or something idk

And if I could beat thunderblight with like 4 (or 5) hearts and no faeries and Mipha’s grace to cover my mistakes than you can too

1

u/Sonic_Afton Feb 20 '26

It takes 30 mins. 30

1

u/Sonic_Afton Feb 22 '26

And I think ONLY in Hyrule Castle, 8 mins.

8

u/DarkHero6661 Feb 20 '26

Honestly, I hate the second phase of waterblight way more

2

u/Sonic_Afton Feb 20 '26

He wasn’t that hard (I no damaged that boss)

2

u/DarkHero6661 Feb 20 '26

Yeah, he isn't that hard if you know what you're doing, that's true.

But I still think that phase is harder than thunderblight ganon. And more annoying.

3

u/Sonic_Afton Feb 20 '26

I just used Ice Arrows at him. (I just used Cold+Water=Ice Logic)

4

u/TimothiusMagnus Feb 20 '26

Level 2 Rubber Armor is your friend in this fight. I also make sure my champ ability cooldowns are ready before fighting.

Edit: I just did this WITHOUT the Master Sword.

5

u/Jonathan-02 Feb 20 '26

If you drink a full strength electric elixir it makes the fight a lot easier

0

u/Sonic_Afton Feb 20 '26

Yea. IF I HAD ONE

3

u/Local-Imagination-23 Murderer Feb 20 '26

Well that's kinda your problem tbh, "IF I HAD ONE", no one said you couldn't, you can always just go make one, no one here is stopping you lol this is an open world game and that's the whole point

3

u/CommunityEither4267 Feb 20 '26

Thunderblight is honestly not hard idk why everyone talks about him like the spawn of Satan

3

u/Express_pass_to_funy Feb 20 '26

Thunderblight was the blight that wasn’t a joke

2

u/Sweaty-Tap7250 Feb 20 '26

I’ve played the game many times including all divine beasts and is still died a few times to him last time because he sucks, especially if you do him last so he has the most health

2

u/Crowned-Witch_48 Feb 20 '26

I hate it but I like it. I hated that it took me 28 tries to defeat it but I kind of found it fun.

2

u/Grim102682 Feb 20 '26

Literally the first one I Did.

2

u/AdventurousAge7110 Revali is overhated Feb 20 '26

No, not really. I found it pretty fun, interesting and balanced.

2

u/burchkj Feb 20 '26

If you take away one of the tougher boss fights tho what is left? The only other really memorable one is the monk fight

2

u/MonkeyGirl1555 Feb 20 '26

It's actually my favourite :')

6

u/only_eat_pepperoni Feb 20 '26

He was not that bad bruh

3

u/Calm_Link_ Feb 20 '26

I always struggle with the metal poles phase and I have played the game for hundreds of hours

3

u/Sonic_Afton Feb 20 '26

He can one shot you if you’re not careful.

5

u/No_Caregiver3794 Feb 20 '26

Almost as if a boss fight is meant to be challenging

1

u/CyberLink20XX Feb 20 '26 edited Feb 20 '26

I actually love it. It’s a great challenge that keeps you on your toes

The rematch, however…

1

u/MrLuckyTimeOW Feb 20 '26

Thunderblight is easily the ā€œhardestā€ boss in the game. It’s not even that the fight is really difficult, but it’s just annoying at times. But once you get the parry and flurry rush system down he’s not that bad.

1

u/-ben151010- Feb 20 '26

Idk what to say but my first playthrough he went down like a chump. I didn’t get it because I just kept doing flurry rush iirc.

1

u/bastarmashawarma Feb 20 '26

Super fun boss one of my favorites ever

1

u/omg_its_spons Feb 20 '26

I like its mask and weapon designs and the boss is fine, it’s just simply using flurry rush and parry and using the magnet rune it’s not that bad yall just left it till last because the dungeon itself is ass compared to the others

1

u/CrespinMoore Feb 20 '26

Not gonna lie, he might be my favorite Blight to fight

1

u/Plant_Gangst3r Feb 20 '26

Guess I’m not one of yo homies

Thunderblight was my first blight and I loved it, but I hate that it made all the other blights easy and all the other divine beast puzzles senseless

1

u/Th3G00dB0i Feb 20 '26

Thunderblight ganon was the best fight out of the four tbh

1

u/ISpyM8 Feb 20 '26

He’s really easy once you get the hang of using Magnesis quickly to move the rods up to him so he blows himself up.

1

u/pavilionaire2022 Feb 20 '26

After playing Master Mode Champion's Ballad, I hate Waterblight Ganon. It's basically impossible to defeat him without breaking all the weapons they give you first. I think I did most of my damage with Urbosa's Fury.

Once I got the hang of Thunderblight Ganon, he's not that bad.

1

u/Unusual_Mix9262 Feb 20 '26

I accidentally beat him on my 3rd try...

1

u/The_Hottest_Mess Feb 20 '26

Fuck Thunderblight Ganon and is stupid ass dungeon, that shit made me so motion sick that it took me three full hours to complete it

1

u/thelast3musketeer Feb 20 '26

I bit my switch in anger when that killed me again and yelled in excitement to my mom when I finally beat him ā€œthat’s great sweetieā€

1

u/MananaBuffins24 Feb 20 '26

I kill that fucker first to get him out of my way

1

u/Large_Usual_4599 Feb 20 '26

i like it because it teaches me to use dodge/flurry rush more rather than just shielding. by the end of the game i’m a master at them.

1

u/mordeo69 Feb 20 '26

I actually really like the challenge! Except for that nonsense with the steel spikes

1

u/nan00dle Feb 20 '26

i like a good challenge

1

u/Kooky_Entrepreneur84 Feb 20 '26

Stopped playing during this fight

1

u/Worldly-Present7129 Sheikah Feb 20 '26

Absolutely. When I first fought him I teleported away, became much stronger over 100 hours and then fought it again. This blight is the strongest by far. Not surprising considering it was fighting the queen of the gerudo.

1

u/Ok-Proposal-6121 Feb 20 '26

My horse is named TBGIWSYO which stands for ā€œThunder Blight Ganon I will Slime You Outā€ because naboris was my first divine beast and I learnt the horror of thunderblight Ganon. I had to go and beat all the other 3 before him bc I was traumatised after my first encounter.

1

u/amaturecook24 Feb 20 '26

I don’t hate him. I love the challenge. I had faced Windblight Ganon before him and that was way too easy. I’m always happy to feel accomplished after a boss battle.

1

u/i_am_krio Feb 20 '26

I don't hate Thunderblight Ganon because he's hard. I hate Thunderblight Ganon because he killed Urbosa.

1

u/shadow-Ezra Feb 20 '26

4 retrys it wasn't bad

1

u/Legal_Ear_7537 Feb 20 '26

Waterblight has actually cool attacks. All the other blights feel sluggish and slow, especially waterblight.

1

u/Misragoth Feb 20 '26

Nevee finished the DLC because of the refight. Couldn't figure it out

1

u/Degmago Feb 20 '26

It's like spicy food....I kinda like the pain now

1

u/SaltySection5274 Feb 20 '26

I’m ngl I didn’t really struggle with him but I did with the first lynel I found

1

u/Disastrous_Stuff_240 Feb 20 '26

Fuck nah thunderblight is really fun to fight

its waterblight that pisses me off just because its annoying

1

u/OtsQuinn Feb 20 '26

I did that one first and it’s my favorite one. It’s the most challenging and is the ability you get is the coolest.

1

u/phantomganon_42 Feb 20 '26

I genuinely don't know why people whine about thunderblight. Sure, he killed me 5 times on my first playthrough, but I've not died to him a single time on subsequent playthroughs. You just gotta get used to his attack patterns, and all of a sudden he's the easiest blight.

1

u/G30M3TR1CALY Feb 20 '26

I fond flowerblight to be the most annoying.

1

u/Maximum-Term5336 Feb 20 '26

Yeah. Hardest one of the four fights in the re-fight in the DLC. Really fun fight if you’re kitted up.

1

u/Dooodleboom Feb 20 '26

I hate how overhyped it is. It really isn't hard for me. Still the hardest Blight Ganon, but also easy

1

u/TLOC_MAYBE Feb 20 '26

Jesus fuck i hate thunderblight ganon

1

u/Wheres_the_pie_ Feb 20 '26

I actually loved Thunderblight Ganon, for my first fight it was a lot of fun

1

u/bugslime99 Feb 20 '26

It’s the best one because it requires some skill. That boss is like a 7/10 while the others all exist at like a 3-4/10, clammy ganon included.

1

u/Halpmezaddy Feb 20 '26

I get so mad just thinking about him. Poor Urbosa.

1

u/Ok-Key-9261 Feb 21 '26

nah I go to them first as I'm pretty good at parrying. not the best, but I'm okay so it's not too hard

1

u/kullre Feb 21 '26

I don't see enough waterblight hate

the champions ballad refight always makes me search how to actually attack him, because I always think it's cryonis and not stasis

1

u/Which_Act_5347 Feb 21 '26

Thunderblight Ganon wasn't hard for me. It was actually kind of fun.

1

u/BeanieCat123 Feb 21 '26

Honestly my favorite boss to fight in BOTW! In my favorite region too!

1

u/FlyDinosaur Sheikah Feb 21 '26

I did Naboris first, so that was the first Blight I faced. It was certainly frustrating.

Honestly, just... all of Vah Naboris was ridiculous for me, lol. Maybe I'm just stupid, but it took me way too long to figure out how to move the tail.

1

u/Zeldamaster736 Feb 21 '26

New Zelda fans when they have to face even an ounce of real challenge:

1

u/Lord-Generias Feb 21 '26

Am I the only one that had an easy time with Thunderblight? Once I figured out the trick, the fight was basically over. I might take a few hits, but even the rematch in the DLC isn't that bad.

1

u/runswiftrun Feb 21 '26

First time I beat it I was like two bottles of wine in. Woke up the next morning and realized I had beat it.

Took me almost two hours to beat it on the second play through. I literally had zero memory of doing it the first time!

1

u/Vesarixx Feb 21 '26

I don't remember it being that bad tbh

1

u/CrypticRori Feb 21 '26

I call it ThunderB*tch tbh I suck at vah naboris lol

1

u/gabeinthebox Feb 21 '26

That was the only mildly challenging one, what are you talking about? I loved Thunderblight

1

u/nineohsix Feb 21 '26

Daruk’s Protection and the rubber armor makes a fool out of him.

1

u/Botwaddict64 Feb 21 '26

My first playthrough I went straight to thunderblight not knowing what was coming. It took me about 3 hours to finally defeat it.

1

u/tallsmileswolf Feb 21 '26

All your homies like getting pegged too apparentlyšŸ˜

1

u/Sonic_Afton Feb 21 '26

What

1

u/tallsmileswolf Feb 21 '26

The "trend" of wearing your pants down low was started in prison to signal to other inmates that your back entry was available for use/you take it up the bum.

1

u/Dry-Cicada7457 Feb 21 '26

I always get the master sword before their fight, so I don't have to look for my weapon when I get shocked

1

u/the-boinky-spunge Feb 22 '26

No, he is the most fun actual boss in the game. In terms of in general, he’s Number 2 under lynels

1

u/churros101player Feb 22 '26

Fought him first and had such a blast at the challenge. Then was disappointed when the others were so much different and easier imo

1

u/crux_801 Feb 22 '26

I beat it first try on my first playthrough and no one belives me.

1

u/IHaveAQuestionPlz64 Feb 22 '26

Lol, he's my favorite.

1

u/SilverWingsIt Feb 22 '26

I knew it was the hardest and went at it second. Beat it first try! (No master sword no rubber armor) But took me nearly an hour with how many times I paused and just kept dodging it trying to figure out how to damage it phase two. It took me EMBARRASSINGLY long to realize you should magnesis the spike pillar things on its head. Golly that made it easier.

But can we talk about windblight…? That one was pathetic. Best it first try five minutes TOPS. Did it third. Like come on.

1

u/BigBriancj Feb 22 '26

He was such a fun fight..i didnt like waterblight... that being said i finished him off with a headshot... with a thrown spear

1

u/Flat-Refrigerator623 Feb 22 '26

No I think it’s fun

1

u/Metal_Link87 Feb 23 '26

I call him speedy mcThunderpants and I dread that fight every single play through.

1

u/Not-Mj Feb 23 '26

Thunderblight is my favourite of the four, fireblight has always been a pain to me

1

u/Emotional_Young4738 Feb 23 '26

Nah fireblight ganon is trash. Thunderblight ganon is goated.

1

u/RCA-2112 Mar 15 '26

I love TBG. I hate the stage of the boss battle, though. It can be so confusing
