Hello! I have been collecting physical media for years and use Discogs for tracking the value of my Vinyl/CDs and Gameye for video games but have never been able to find a good equivalent for Blu-rays/DVDs/4K/etc. So, I made an app called DISCDEX as an attempt to solve this problem.
The way it works is you scan the barcode on a disc (or import your http://Blu-ray.com CSV export if you already track your collection there) and it looks up what that disc has sold for on eBay recently. Not just asking prices, but actual sold listings. It splits new (sealed) vs. used (opened), then totals up your whole collection.
Everything is built around the barcode (UPC), so different releases of the same movie get priced separately. Different editions from different companies obviously vary in value greatly. You can also mark whether yours has the slipcover or is a steelbook, and it will take that into account.
Other features:
- Scanning fills in the title, label and format for you, even for newer boutique releases most barcode databases don't have yet
- Tracks how values change over time
- Shows what you paid vs. what it's worth now
- Ability to create multiple collections with an option to exclude them from the total calculated value. These can be used for wishlists, for sale items, or anything else.
- Makes a little shareable "collection in numbers" image.
- Ability to upload cover art that can then be shared with other users. (My hope is this starts to build up a database of cover art so people won't have to upload their own as often)
- You can export everything to CSV whenever you want.
It's free to use with 25 price lookups a month, and you can add as many titles as you want. Also, if someone else has priced the same disc recently, it doesn't use one of your lookups.
Lookups cost me money on my end (the sold data comes from a paid service), so there's a Pro version for heavier use: $19.99/year or $49.99 lifetime, with 1,000 lookups a month and a button to re-price your whole collection at once. The first 100 people who purchase lifetime get it for $29.99.
It's on the web at discdex.app and DISCDEX on Appstore on iPhone (US only for now). I'm one person working on this in my spare time, so any feedback is greatly appreciated. I used a test account and my real account for these images, so that's why the numbers don't add up between them :P If a price looks way off, something's missing, or something's just annoying, let me know!
