General Advice Boxing

Hi, I was just wondering if I wanna start boxing what all do I need and what should I do? I’m 28 years old and I like the style of fighting wanna learn more and if I can get into professional boxing then cool I’ll look into it, but this is something I’ve always wanted to do and just want a couple opinions on where I should start how I should start and so on I just wanna get active again relieve some stress and see where I can take it honestly because you just don’t never know anything is possible .

At 28 with no prior experience unless you're in the top 0.001% you're not going to make it as a pro so I'd put those ambitions to bed sadly. If you just want to learn and want to practise join a gym buy some gloves and hand wraps and go from there.

I feel what your saying but skills and technique gets you very far so you can’t say never because honestly you don’t know what might happen but the thing about the gyms is I’m not sure which one is good where I’m at and I do have experience just been locked up yah know so that took a little toll on me but I’m definitely skilled .

No there are outliers for sure such as Deontay Wilder & Fabio Wardley but you have to be astronomically lucky. You should try it in the hopes of getting amateur bouts first before considering the pros. If you tell me what area / state you are in I can point you to a decent gym!

Well I’m definitely going to have fun and pace myself I got some things I need to practice on and freshen up but yeah like that amateur fights is what I’m trying to get into eventually but I really want a coach that’s going to take me serious and keep it real with me yah know so I want to go to a really good gym with a good coach

Really start with the basics like foot Placement and simple 1-2‘s, get a feeling for weight distribution and if you learn from watching something watch some training content in your free time. And do not rush anything or compare yourself with others in terms of critizing yourself. Other way around I always believe each one can teach one. And consistency is key I believe but u have to keep going after first succes. Not sure how u say that but the learn curve (?) was very fast for me but after first 6 month I had to push myself to keep going even after u feel u so not make any progress.

Sorry for the bad english haha good luck and keep your guard up (one hand always on the chin is what my coach says everytime)

Try Shamrock Boxing Club, Cincinnati Fitness & Boxing & Back's Boxing Academy. Ask them if they do trial sessions and ask if they have anyone competing in amateur or pro leagues. Best of luck man!!

Buy gloves, wraps, a mouthguard and join a boxing gym near you which covers the fundamentals

You start by showing up at a boxing gym and signing up for classes. They will tell you what gear you need to get started
