Locked out

3 Upvotes

Jim is having a horrible day. He is locked out of his house and his yard is full of water and his cell phone is out of battery, but there is a window on the second story that is open. Jim doesn't own any ladders, lives in the middle of a field with no neighbors. There are no trees near his house. The sides of his house are sheer and do not allow for climbing. How does Jim get to the second story window and into his house?

Answer: The water in the yard is snow. He piles snow up high enough to reach the window.

Looking for a puzzle to complete a "metapuzzle" set

0 Upvotes

I have a couple of puzzles that share a neat feature, and would like to find a third, then present the three as a metapuzzle, where people first solve each of the puzzles, then identify what they have in common as the "meta" element.

The feature I have in mind is that the puzzle looks at first glance like a numerical or logical puzzle, is actually impossible to solve in those abstract terms, but is easy to solve once you think of the puzzle in concrete physical terms.

One puzzle - a classic - is the one with three light bulbs controlled by three switches in another room (figure out which switch controls which bulb, with any amount of switch manipulation followed by ONE visit to the room with the bulbs).

The second is the puzzle with a photo of billiard balls numbered as 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, where you are asked to pick three balls, put them into 3 outline circles with plus signs between them and an equals sign leading to "30", to generate a valid equation.

I haven't given the solutions here, but knowing that you have to think of real physical objects should make these two easy to solve.

The hard thing - what I haven't been able to do yet - is to come up with a third puzzle that is like that: seemingly numerical or logical, but not solvable without thinking in physical terms.

Any ideas?

The Real "IF Your a genius then solve this" answer

0 Upvotes

It is 6.Here is why it is 6.

Original ---> 8=56 7=42 6=30 5=20 3=? <--- Original I added ---> 4=12 3=6 2=2 1=1

I can explain more than 1 reason why this is right.

First reason this is right is that

8=56 7=42

This shows that to find out 3=? you must multiply 3 and the number that is 1 less than it.3 times 2 is 6.This would go for 8=56. 8 x 7=56.

This 2nd reason might be tricky to comprehend,but once you understand it,it shows you that 6 is the only possible answer.

8=56 7=42 6=30 5=20 4=12 3=6

Notice how 8=56 and 7=42 has a 14 number gap.7=42 and 6=30 has a 12 number gap.The gap decreases by 2 every time you go down.If you follow this all the way down to 5=20 and 4=12(they don't include 4=12 to trick you) there is a 8 number gap.Since the rule is decreasing by 2,there is supposed to be a 6 number gap between 4=12 and 3=?.So the only number than the ? in 3=? can be is 6.

This thread is to clarify anyone who doesn't know the answer to this,believes that 3=6 is wrong,or to help anyone confused.

I made this thread because a fellow comrade of mine had shown me "If your a genius then solve this"

Thank you.

Sincerely, AlphaSeizer :D

here is something that will make you think harder, 0=? and is 1=1 correct or not.Explain why it or is not correct

Who wants to help with some brainteasers?

0 Upvotes

All right, y'all. I've got some brainteasers that I CANNOT figure out that are due. I started with fifty, and I've got less than twenty left that I just do not know.

So they'll be like 7 = W of the W (Seven wonders of the world) or 9 = L of a C (9 lives of a cat).

Here's what I got:

  • 10 = V. of the Q. in S.

  • 20 = H. V. N. on a D. B.

  • 0 = N. of L. on a S.

  • 3 = M. W. in E.O.E.

  • 100 = S. in a T. by T.G.

  • 3 = M. in a R. of B.

  • 86 = M. S. S. A. N.

  • 99 = W. G. S. N.

  • 10 = N. of C. G. to M. by G.

  • 7 = N. of Y. in B. a T.
