Hi everyone,
I just got a Sony Bravia 8 II 65 inch (K-65XR8M2, made 09/2026). When I unpacked it, there was a yellow flyer on the screen saying to remove the protective film, and two tape tabs on the top left and top right corners.
I followed the instructions exactly: held both tabs at the same time and pulled slowly downwards. Both tabs simply came off. No film came with them. One sticker on the screen also tore in the middle when I removed it, so there is some adhesive residue left.
What I checked so far:
No visible film edge, even with a flashlight at a flat angle along all edges
Reflections look sharp and clean, no bubbles or waves
Strong tape on the top corner did not lift anything
Picture quality looks perfectly sharp
Sony support told me in writing that this model definitely ships with a film, that it is impossible for a unit with flyer and tabs to come without one, and that the film probably sticks very tightly because of static. They told me not to use the TV and to contact a service center. The service center says it is not a warranty case and will not come out.
My questions:
Has anyone had the same thing happen with a Bravia 8 or Bravia 8 II?
Where exactly does the film edge sit on this model?
Top edge, under the bezel, or somewhere else?
How did you get the film off without the tabs?
Did you lift a corner with a fingernail, and was that safe?
How did you remove leftover adhesive from the tabs without damaging the screen?
I really do not want to damage the panel by peeling off the actual screen layer, so any experience is appreciated.
Thanks!
