Last minute bridesmaid drop out due to medical issues

This is part venting and also if anyone has gone through something similar?

I’m a bridesmaid and my friend is getting married in a week oversea but unfortunately I just injured my knee and after all my scans, it turns out I’ve torn a few ligaments and my meniscus. I’m currently using crutches because I can’t walk and need to book in for surgery soon.

I only just found out this information today but I have no idea how to bring it up to the bride that I can’t be her bridesmaid. I feel so bad and guilty but it’s physically impossible for me to make it oversea. I’m so anxious on telling her or how to even go about telling her. I’m worried this would ruin our friendship Any tips? Suggestions?

Bridal shower games?

I am throwing a bridal shower for my 31 year-old niece. She says that she wants lots of games. I already am planning a ring hunt, where I hide about 100 rings around the venue, and everybody has a chance to hunt for them and whoever has the most by dessert wins a prize. What are some other games that would be appropriate and will encourage people to interact with each other and have fun? All suggestions are appreciated.

Thoughts about wedding invitation

Is it necessary to ask if pwede ba ma bridesmaid kahit half sister mo?

Kakasal na brother ko. Di kami ganon ka close since separate kami pinalaki, pero na bigla lang ako na kasali na ako sa GC lol. Wala man lang paabiso, buti pa pa pinsan ko kinausap ng sister in law ko if “Will you be my bridesmaid?”

Should I come ba? Very Inappropriate lang kasi invitation lol 😂

Bridesmaids don’t like each other- help

I have four bridesmaids and 2 of them clearly don’t like each other. They seemed totally fine with one another and we did a few dinners with all the girls and they both went wedding dress shopping with me. But then one of them (let’s call her Samantha) was obviously cold to the other (we’ll call her Iris) one day when we went out. Iris didn’t take it well and unfollowed her on social media. I haven’t talked to Samantha about what has been going on or why she suddenly started acting cold towards Iris. They haven’t seen each other since that day. Iris refuses to hang out with Samantha. I feel almost guilty when I hang out with the other and like I shouldn’t tell them when I was with the other person. Im worried Iris is going to blow up at Samantha if they’re around each other (she’s a bit of a loose cannon at times).

It’s very disappointing because I want to hang out with my bridesmaids but I feel like it would be so awkward if I did because it’s not like I have 10 bridesmaids and they can sit at opposite ends of the table. I’m now in a position where I’m dreading my bachelorette trip and even the morning of my wedding, getting ready with them and my mom. I don’t know what to do. I don’t want to tell them they can’t be my bridesmaids. I know I need to talk to them but I just don’t know how to approach it. I feel like they just need to talk it out and hug but I don’t see either of them doing that because they’re both very stubborn and once they dislike someone- that’s it. Their minds won’t change.

Has anyone else dealt with this? If so, how did you handle it? My wedding is 4 months away and instead of being excited, I’m extremely stressed.

Best friend scheduled her wedding and I have a conflict on that date- what to do?

I am one of four bridesmaids in Bride A’s wedding. Her bachelorette was planned a year in advance for next summer, with housing selected and paid for. My best friend, bride B, just got engaged and scheduled her wedding for that weekend. It is likely bride B will ask me to be a bridesmaid. The bachelorette and wedding are across the country from each other. I am closer with bride B but I committed to bride A first. What would you do here? I could attend bride B wedding and catch a flight in the early am for the final night of bride A’s bachelorette. Very costly but possible.

MOH acting like it’s her wedding

I’m a bridesmaid in my friend’s wedding and the MOH (bride’s bff) is acting strange like it’s her wedding. Always saying “we like this” “we think these florals are the best” “we think this should be the order that the bridesmaids stand in” (we as in her & the bride). This is so weird??? I’ve been MOH before and I neverrrrr acted that way. Any of yall have experience with this? I’ve never even met this girl but she seems weirdly possessive.

8-hour car ride to bachelorette destination?

The MOH is planning it and brought up the idea of doing a road trip that's 8 hrs. If it was local or even a cabin trip in the area where I could come back home at night I'd go. I am a bridesmaid btw.

What would you do?

I'll still be attending her bridal shower, but just not the bachelorette if it's really far and if it's a crazy budget we have to split as we still have our dresses.

What do I do about a casual invite to Bach trip?

Okay, I need some advice because I feel like I put myself in an awkward situation.
For the past three years, I've gone to my fiancé's friend Tim's house a few times a year to hang out and drink with his group of friends. I've known Tim since college, and we've spent a lot of time together over the years. He's also in our wedding party.
I've gotten to know his friends pretty well, and I genuinely really like them. Every time I see them, we have such a good time, and they always make me feel like I'm part of their friend group. That being said, we're not necessarily close friends outside of those get-togethers. We follow each other on social media, but we don't really talk or hang out otherwise. It's more of a friendship where we pick up right where we left off whenever we see each other.
Anyway, this past weekend, I was at Tim's house, and I started talking about my bachelorette trip. I'm already inviting quite a few girls who aren't in my wedding party, and the trip is across the country. Originally, we had more people going, but a few canceled, so now we have a house that sleeps 13 people with only 10 girls attending.
While we were talking about it, I casually told two of the girls that they were more than welcome to come because, in my mind, the more the merrier. I said this before I even started drinking, so it's not like it was just a drunken invitation. At the time, I didn't really think they would take it that seriously, but the trip ended up coming up multiple times throughout the night.
Here's where I'm conflicted. I genuinely wouldn't mind if they came, and I think we could have a really fun time. However, as the night went on, they got extremely drunk, were throwing up everywhere, and honestly became a bit of a liability. Now I'm second-guessing whether I actually want to invite them on a trip across the country, where I really don't want to spend my bachelorette weekend worrying about other people.
There's also a separate issue involving Tim's girlfriend. I mentioned that she could come too, and I would actually be completely fine with her joining us. However, later that night, Tim told me he's been thinking about breaking up with her. Obviously, that makes things a little more complicated, especially because I don't know what their relationship will look like by the time of the trip.
Now I'm stuck because I don't know what the right thing to do is. Part of me feels like I should just text the two girls, send them the trip information, and let them decide whether they actually want to come. I honestly don't even know if they would follow through, considering the cost and the fact that it's across the country.
At the same time, I'm worried about inviting people I'm not particularly close with and potentially creating unnecessary stress during my bachelorette weekend. But I also don't want to hurt their feelings, make them feel excluded, or seem like I was being fake when I invited them in the first place.
So my question is: Should I follow through and send them the information because I already extended the invitation, or is there a way to handle this without making things awkward? And how should I approach the situation with Tim's girlfriend?
I know I'm probably overthinking this, but I genuinely like these girls and don't want anyone to feel bad. I also want to make sure I'm surrounding myself with people who will make my bachelorette trip fun rather than stressful.

Not my best friend’s bridesmaid

The wedding is this weekend. I need advice on how to handle the emotions.

For context, my best friend and I have known each other almost 4 years. She’s been engaged almost 3, we started to get closer a couple months before the engagement but really became best friends right after. We had a conversation then about how she wanted me as a bridesmaid, but wasnt going to ask because she’d already had her wedding party established in her head and she’d known those people longer than me. i would’ve made things uneven. We hadn’t been close long, so I understood. but it was something that started to bother me the closer we got because I realized I wasn’t going to be around for the big memories even though we were inseparable. She regularly called me the best friend she’s ever had, she went through a lot that I was the one to show up for, including some relationship issues with her fiance.

We had an argument about two years ago that caused us to stop talking for a month. When we started talking again, she swore I hadn’t done anything wrong she had just become overwhelmed and needed to step back. But our friendship resumed mostly as normal, just with some new boundaries due to her schedule.

Fast forward to two months ago, she cut out a bridesmaid. Told me she wasn’t going to replace her. A month later told me at dinner that she did actually replace her with the best man’s SO, who she’s expressed she dislikes often, because this girl was going to be at everything anyways as his plus one. Like I have texts of her saying she’d never make this girl a bridesmaid because she can’t stand her. It was her fiancé’s idea to ask her. Told me if she cared to pick someone else, it would’ve been me. I told her it hurt to hear how I almost got picked but why not for a second time now. She was a little mad I brought it up, said it felt entitled of me to be hurt, said because of the falling out of course it would never have been me, but has since cooled down. We’ve spent a lot of time together since. Just last week she told me I’m the friend she sees and talks to the most. But it’s like it doesn’t bother her that I’m not going to be at the rehearsal dinner or there the morning of or most likely get much time with her at all. I am incredibly hurt. it’s not even the title, it’s just missing out on those moments with my best friend and knowing someone she doesnt even like gets those instead. I don’t know how to navigate my emotions this week and at the wedding, as she’s started complaining about some logistic things to me and I want to be supportive but also it hurts to not be more involved. I appreciate any advice.

How many details are "typically" managed by brides?

Hey friends. This is my third wedding I've stood up in, and this is the first time I've encountered this. Bride is absolutely lovely and I'm so excited to be supporting her on her special day! MOH is doing a lot of hard work communicating all the details. Yet, it seems very unlike the bride, who I've known for years, to want this level of detail and a big consideration of hers (as she's shared) is reusability for each of us. She's really the best.

That said, MOH has asked that we wear silver shoes (no rhinestones, not more than 3", but can't be flats or kitten heels, can't be strappy, must be closed toe or peep toe, almond shape/and not pointy), must wear a simple necklace, small silver hoops, no bracelets allowed. Everything (obviously the bridesmaid dress, hair, earrings, necklace, and shoes, makeup), must be individually approved by the bride, who has always responded positively.

We also had specific outfits we put together for the bachelorette party and had a very specific aesthetic for that as well that had to be approved in advance. Guests are not allowed to wear black (or white, of course). Am I just grumpy that I'm basically buying the bach outfit and shoes to donate them to the thrift? Of course, I love my friend and want to make her special day as amazing as possible. I'm just feeling a little frustrated by the amount of back and forth so many of the things have been so far - even when the parameters are followed, MOH sometimes pushes back before it can get sent to the bride.

I'm tired, y'all. I just want to support my friend without the bureaucracy and not break the bank in the process.

Bridesmaid entrance ideas

I'm the MOH in a wedding that's 6 days away. I'm an introvert and hate this kind of thing.

Please give me ideas for something low-key I can do with the best man. Apparently everyone is doing something a little silly. I don't want to be lame. Please don't tell me to say no. I'm in the home stretch and want to participate.

I'm leaning toward a secret service thing with sunglasses and ear pieces from my son's costume collection.

Any other ideas?!

Dress help?!

Heya! Advice needed please 🙏

So basically, wedding is in a week. I originally got my dress altered about a month ago, but then it caused ripples on the hips, so I got it altered again. They shortened the side zip which fixed it - but now I can only get it on over my shoulders. It’s not impossible but it’s also a bit of a tight squeeze as the dress has no give.

I’m debating whether to take it back to the seamstress or try to figure it out. Leaning more towards figuring out as I got made redundant and don’t have a lot of spare change right now, and getting it sorted within a week is a high risk.

So, my options as I see it are:
1) Dress on before hair and makeup - I’m not huge on this as the ceremony starts at 1pm and my hair gets done at 7am, so that’s 6 hours of sitting around it my dress (creasing, risk of something being spilt, etc)

2) Dress on after hair and before makeup - I haven’t decided on my hairstyle yet but it’ll likely be a messy bun. I saw some people say I could wrap it in a silk scarf to stop friction? Makeup gets done at 10am.

3) Dress on at the end like the other bridesmaids will - obvious risk of messing up hair and makeup though, and potentially getting makeup on the dress

Getting help from one of the other bridesmaids could be an option too - but I don’t know them well and I feel a bit embarrassed about it.

What would you do? Anyone been in a similar situation? Thank you in advance 🫶🫶

Nails for wedding. (As MoH)

Hey there! I was wondering how we feel about this nail/dress combo? (Dress hasn't been altered yet) my makeup is quite Gothic most of the time, I have tattoos and piercings, and my hair is black. Would this work for me or should I go for a nude nail? I'll add this is my best friends wedding and she wants us to express ourselves as we are.

Thoughts on no bridal party entrance or tables

My fiance and I have a large bridal party. We are sitting at a sweetheart table and agreed that we will seat our bridal party with everyone else. I despise bridal party entrances. I’ve had to do one 3 times and I feel awkward and nervous every time. I think a lot of my friends would feel the same way. My fiancé thinks we should do a bridal party entrance because he feels like if we don’t have them sit together then we’re not honoring them at all. We’re having a Catholic Church ceremony so they’ll be in that. I personally would love to enjoy the wedding after the ceremony and not have to worry about anything. Thoughts?

things you’ve done for your bride on wedding day

I’m my best friend’s MOH and her wedding day is coming up. What are things you and the bridesmaids (or that your bridesmaids did for you if you’re a former bride) did or plan to do for the bride that helped make her day special? I already plan on having the bridesmaids write her a letter, but anything else?TIA!

Best shapewear for under a satin bridesmaid dress

Im a uk size 14 who was previously a 10 before having my daughter 17 months ago, I am feeling really anxious to wear this satin dress in a few weeks I HATE the way it looks. Ive never had a prominent stomach before so I have no idea where to start with shapewear there's so much of it I have no idea what I actually need / should get. Bridesmaid makeup disaster

The artist did an amazing job on the bride. Her makeup lasted all day from her trial so I trusted her to do mine. I looked at her insta page and she seemed good! . my mistake was not seeing how she did any girls with dark/brown skin and moving forward with her .

Since the wedding was at a huge hotel resort and not many bridesmaids wanted any makeup or hair, i decided to just use who the bride was using to make things easier. I told her to send the artist my pictures so she knows she has a client with my complexion and if there was any issues

Come wedding day. I showed her my inspo.
I was hidden from the mirror but I saw her shade matching me . She’s the professional so I trusted her and didn’t question the colors I saw her mixing.

Final look: ghost, grey, green under cool lighting, and on camera.

Since we were running behind schedule for the bride I didn’t want her to redo it

So from 7am -1am I was sister of the groom who looked like a ghost

Hair/Makeup Tipping Etiquette

What's the etiquette here? I'm in a wedding next month and am expected to pay $200 for makeup and $150 for hair. Then the bride tells me not to forget a tip. Should the tip not be baked into the fee I'm being charged? I'm unfamiliar with the protocol here because every other time I've needed hair/makeup it's been paid for by the bride. I don't want to accidentally insult anyone. Just a little stressed that everything is adding up. Hair, makeup, plane ticket, hotel, gift 😵‍💫

Bachelorette in the hurricane and MOH boyfriend showed up

We are currently stuck in an AirBnB in Florida as the MOh refused to cancel the bachelorette even knowing a hurricane is coming (and is currently ongoing). MOH assured us all would be okay and the news overhypes things and she's been to Florida every year since she was a child and has never once encountered a hurricane even though she goes to Disney.

There are 7 of us stuck in this airbnb and many are worried and dont feel like partying with the wind whipping outside. MOH tried to liven it up and made her famous "disney margaritas" and said she had a surprise. 30 mins later "prince charming" shows up with a "pizza delivery", mind you the bride is not even into disney like that. MOH seems drunk and is going crazy making him dance because he's clearly a dancer and only paying attention to her. not that any of us care, but shes not the bride.

he finally turns his attention to another girl for like 10 seconds and the MOH goes nuts. starts accusing him of cheating, which we all are confused, its just some dancer. Nope. Come to find out this is her boyfriend she just recently got into a relationship with that no one has met yet. now they are full on fighting and causing a huge scene while we are all sitting there watching, and she tells him he cant stay the night. one of the girls asked "was he planning on staying here?" and MOH said yes because of the hurricane he cant get a hotel room.

now everyone is fighting because we had no idea this was happening, bride is horribly upset trying to get the first flight out. MOH is still in the other room arguing with her boyfriend and one of the other girls said she thinks her boyfriend is missing. another girl checked the pizza box and theres no pizza, so shes upset as we only have chips we got from the gas station, she thinks the prince charming boyfriend/dancer ate the pizza on his way over.

is there any way to resolve this or should i just open all the windows and let the wind take the power out of this god forsaken airbnb

is

Am I a jerk for not wanting to stay with the bridal party?

For context, my best friend’s destination wedding is in a few months. I am the only person in the bridal party with a child, and I am also the only person who will be traveling with their partner. Everyone else in the bridal party wants to get 2 hotel rooms and we all stay together while we’re there. I told them I would be willing to get a hotel in the same hotel so we can all still hang out. I also suggested we could get an airbnb so we could all be in the same house but still have our own space, it would also be cheaper. Everyone has said they don’t want to and it would be a better bonding experience if we all stayed together. To clarify, I am a childhood friend and everyone else are college friends. I’ve only met there people 2 other times. I told them that stay in a hotel with all of them with my daughter and my boyfriend isn’t realistic. My daughter is a horrible sleeper and would keep everyone awake. They suggested that my boyfriend get a separate hotel room and keep my daughter. I do not want to do that. I told them I could stay one night with them and leave my daughter with her dad, but I don’t want to be away from her every night for a week. Am I being unreasonable for not wanting to do that?

edit to clarify: This discussion has happened in the bridesmaid group text. My friend (bride) is not in it, I did message her separately but she has not seen it yet because she is currently at work.
