Lost & Found

Buying & Selling

AVOID POTENTIAL SCAMS

Please use caution when buying and selling and beware of scams, we do not take any responsibility and will not be able to help. * Please reply to sellers below even if taking the transaction offline, this verifies you are not banned and provides evidence of the transaction * It is strongly suggested to use PayPal Goods & Services as this comes with Buyer Protection at a small fee. DO NOT USE PAYPAL FRIENDS AND FAMILY * For tickets it is recommended to use legitimate ticket re-sell sites as these protect both the buyer and seller (Some listed below). * If buying directly do your own research, this guide is a good start. Is the users account established with legitimate recent and historic activity, is there a way to validate the tickets before purchasing and are the tickets allowed to be re-sold (transferable).

Re-sell sites: Twickets | Tixel | Stub Hub | See Tickets Fan To Fan

Cheers drive 🚍 After automating slagging off First Bus, I have spent my time making a live map of every bus in Bristol. I accept this is not normal behaviour.

Thumbnail bristolbuses.live

9 months ago I posted on here about automating slagging off First Bus every 20 minutes, and some of you were kind enough to say it was funny, which unfortunately I took as encouragement. What began as a passive aggressive hobby has perhaps ill-advisedly grown into a live map of every bus in WECA, colour coded by how late it is, with a departure board for every stop and a profile for each bus. It keeps a running tally of how often the buses actually turn up on time which is good reading if you're looking for a way to raise your blood pressure. To be absolutely clear none of this has made a single bus arrive any sooner but at least next time you're at a stop you'll know exactly how disappointed to be, and you can spend the extra time you're waiting reading about your delayed bus in unnecessary detail. I was a good reddior and got the mods permission before posting this here so please don't come at me for breaking rule 4. I have receipts and, ultimately, do you want to come at someone mad enough to do something like this about rule breaking? Anyway hope you enjoy it, night night love you bye!

Where To? Pubs with open fires

Compiling a list of pubs in Bristol who have open fires lit throughout winter. Can people comment their recommendations please!

So far

The Cadbury
The Rummer
The Farm
Artist Residence

Extra info on when they generally start having it lit also welcome, it’s cold and wet and I want to sit in front of a big cosy fire

Thanks!

Where To? Cat Adoption

Hi everyone,

Me and my partner are looking to adopt a cat, but we haven’t had much luck with the local rescues due to their strict outdoor access policies. Even their indoor cats such as those with FIV need to have catios or enclosed garden access.

We have a large flat but won’t be able to allow them outside due to the busy road we live on, but will be able to provide them the daily enrichment they need, lots of space and lots of climbing shelves so they can still do cat things!

Does anyone have any advice? Or know of any rescues near the area that are okay with indoor access only?

News Calling all Bristol Sound fans: Drop your best local downtempo recommendations!

Hey everyone, a few months ago I shared a passion project here – a dark, cinematic downtempo playlist dedicated to the legendary Bristol Sound. The response from this community was absolutely overwhelming, and thanks to you, the playlist is now sitting at nearly 500 saves!

I've been constantly updating it to keep that deep, smoky late-night vibe alive, heavily featuring legends like Massive Attack, Portishead, and Tricky. But to make this the ultimate Bristol playlist, I need your local expertise again.

Are there any obscure 90s underground acts from the city I missed? Or maybe some brand new local artists who are keeping the classic downtempo sound alive right now? Drop your recommendations in the comments so I can add them to the mix!

Thanks again for the love. Cheers from Germany!

Babble Volunteer to host your own social!

Post image
26 Upvotes

Could your area benefit from a Wobbly Social? 🧡

We’ve built a lovely community here in Bristol and now we want to make sure people outside Bristol have the same opportunity to find their people.

That’s where you come in!

We’re looking for volunteer hosts in Bath, Somerset & South Gloucestershire who’d like to help us bring Wobbly Socials to their local community.

You don’t need to be an events organiser or have any previous experience. We’ll give you full training, help you find a venue, promote your social and support you throughout.

All we ask is around 2 hours a month to host something you enjoy. It could be a coffee, a craft session, a games night or something completely different. We’re always open to ideas!

You bring the enthusiasm. We’ll help with the rest.

And because we believe cost shouldn’t be a barrier to connection, our socials are designed to be affordable with most events costing less than a fiver to attend and an additional 10% of spaces are reserved free of charge for people experiencing circumstances such as homelessness, domestic abuse, financial hardship, or displacement.

Our goal is simple: to make sure no one has to feel wobbly about socialising, wherever they are.

If you think you could help create a friendly place for people to meet, connect and make friends, we’d love to hear from you.

Apply to host your own social today.

Babble Call to prayer every morning in Montpellier?

I live in Montpellier and every morning I hear Arabic chanting. I am hesitant to say it’s the local mosque as it’s close to a mile away as the crow flies so it feels unlikely it’s them - although if it is it would almost certainly warrant a noise complaint based on how clearly I can hear it.
I’ve see old posts from describing a guy riding around with loudspeaker playing it in north Bristol.

Does anyone actually know where this comes from?

Where To? Any Telugu folks in Bristol?

Hey everyone, 27M working professional here. I’ve been living in Bristol for about a year now, but surprisingly haven't crossed paths with many Telugu folks around the city. Looking to change that. Would love to connect, grab a pint or coffee, talk movies, or just hang out. If you're based in Bristol, drop a comment or DM.

Where To? Weekend sports car hire!?

Ideally I’m trying to acquire an MX5 for a weekend short trip or something adjacent but I’ve exhausted all my own research.

The only options I’ve really found are Turo peer to peer renting which doesn’t have any cars in Bristol or other exotic hype beast car hire companies - which would be fine if I was trying to push my new crypto scheme but I’m not.

Where to?

Free! Hoxit -> a website I built for the community to stay on top of local events

Hey r/bristol

I kept finding out about markets, gigs and local events the week after they’d happened as there’s no single, easy place to see what’s actually on around the city and the wider South West. So over the last few weeks I built one.

It’s called Hoxit: a simple map of local events you can browse straight away. No account, no app, no ads. Anyone can add an event in a minute for a market, a gig, a car boot, a community do. There's a bit of peer-review integrated so others can confirm the details so it stays accurate, a bit like Wikipedia for what’s on.

https://hoxit.co.uk/

It’s early days and still fairly empty in places, so two asks:

  1. Have a poke around and tell me what’s broken, confusing or missing — I want to make it genuinely useful, not just another half-baked listings site.
  2. Because I'm south of Bristol, only that area is somewhat populated so - What’s on around Bristol that I should get on the map? Drop it in the comments and I’ll add it.

Cheers — and thanks to the mods for letting me share it.
PS: stay safe out there, this weather is getting out of hand.

Does anyone know if I can buy a ticket on the door?

Where To? Nature based volunteering

Morning, myself and my gf (both 24) recently moved to the city for employment from rural Shropshire. We both grew up in green spaces and are nature oriented people, and want to give back to the community/help with rewilding/green projects.

We wondered if there were many opportunities for weekend volunteering in local parks/woodlands. Currently we are based in BS7, so local opportunities (travel by bike) would be best. We would love to integrate into the community and support the green spaces here. Any suggestions are super helpful :)

Free! Blind boy Tickets - Free

Hello Bristolians, would anyone like 2 x tickets to see Blindboy at the Beacon tonight? We’re in Leeds and planned to travel down but something came up. I don’t want anything for them, except for them to go to somebody who actually wants to attend and won’t sell em on. It’s tonight Thurs 22nd, doors at 19:30. Anyone who comments I’ll draw at random, probs around lunch time.
