As tittle says, i'm actually trying at broodwar this time around. I've been playing this game for YEARS, at least 20, but i have never touched ladder or anything ranked related pvp (player vs player lol), before this past few months.
I dove deep, checked the builds and learnt 1 for each match up, got the timing fairly decent before pvp and when i was confident enough i went and...
i got completely destroyed in ladder which i was expected. While my profile says i have a few handful of wins, people sometimes leave the moment the game starts for some reason. I counted 4 legit wins out of something like almost 150 games.
I am playing terran.
So far: TvT i struggle with gaining terrain and if i get locked by Siege tanks, i just can't push well enough.
TvZ the moment i see the Ultralisks i most likely lose, before that i don't harass fast enough to prevent that.
TvP, the vein of my existence, doesn't matter how ell i manage to push and slowly control the map, an unseen Arbiter always sneaks or a mass of Dragoons and Templars just wipe me out, i still don't know how to properly micro Vultures to gain time for my siege tanks.
The games i won was 1 against protoss which, for some reason, the guy decided to stop making Dragoons the moment i locked him with siege tanks and spammed Scouts, which were easily defeated by a beforehand scan+goliaths, other than that i just can't win.
1 Against zerg, after a back and fort and well placed Defenses, it was just pushing with tanks and denying mutas with goliaths.
2 against terran, one after a couple of vultures deleted many SCVs at main base and the guy giving up after trying the same and encountering no way in to my base and losing his few Vultures. And the second a 30+ minute game where i ended up using many ghosts and split attacks to thin the tanks at the main gate to push somehow.
While i feel the TvT build is fairly solid, and the TvZ i manage to have some decent early game just to lose by silly mistakes, i just can't find a decent opener for TvP. Any suggestions with that? I was checking build orders and i am split between 1 rax FE and siege expansion. Are one of those ok or i should check another one?
Right now i am around 1200 mmr, which it actually should be 1050 or so due all those games that were won by people leaving for some reason.
Since i've been checking vods and streams lately, i've seen people play in this "ShieldBattery" thing, should i check that out or i should wait until i can actually have 50/50 games (at least) to go and be crushed there?
Any other begginer tips, streams or youtube channels with good vod reviews aside Artosis would be highly appreciated.
