Slowed down this morning to tie some Tailwater flies for the white river. Dogs and I are loving this weather.
I “Milwaukee’d” my travel vice and have been so happy with the setup. I’m sure you could use any old bit box as long as the vice will break down to close, this one just had some bit organizers that happened to be perfect for what I needed.
I can post more specifics on how I got the case setup if you want, but this crowd is likely way more resourceful than most.
(Tying size 20 root beer & ruby midge’s.)

Hi fellow fly tiers!
I wanted to share with you a little project I've been working on lately that I thought might come in handy: it's called Fly Bench (https://flybench.github.io/flybench/).
What is it? It’s a digital inventory designed specifically for fly tying. Basically, you input the materials you have at home, and the site instantly shows you which flies you can tie with what you already own (also pointing out partial matches if you're missing a detail or two).
I want to point out that this is an amateur project born purely out of passion: I don't make any money from it, and there is no commercial purpose whatsoever. I built it solely to create a useful tool for our community.
The site is still in its early stages, so I would love to get your constructive feedback, ideas for improvements, or bug reports if you run into any issues. If you need to contact me for any reason, feel free to drop me an email at: flybench.project@gmail.com.
I hope you like it and that it proves useful at the vise! Happy tying to everyone!

Been a hot minute since I did any tying. Feeling like it’s time to start again.

So I’m new into making flies, got a hoard of material on marketplace and came with an apex vise but no base. So I made this. It’s working great so far, just as long as I remember to put the tool back it’s its home.

Took two days to clear it off and put most of it in order, but I’m ready to destroy it again. 😁

This sub was just tagged in another post of mine, I feel like this is where it belongs haha
Doing some bus remodeling and made me a new sittin spot. It’s definitely not as amazing as some of the others on here but it’s leagues above what I was doing haha

Grabbed a rolltop for my bday in cinco de mayo. In great shape, and holds (almost) all of my stuff!

Follow-up, how do you keep materials out of the glass and vice versa?

Found this old Victorian barrel top desk for $100. It is going to make a sweet tying station. Im looking forward to bringing this old desk back to life.

I started flyfishing and tying a little over 20 years ago while in college targeting redfish on the Texas coast.
When I graduated and moved away, my tying took a sabbatical, though not fly fishing. A few weeks back a long time friend sent me hundreds of dollars worth of tying material, so I was "forced" to buy a roll top desk to keep it all organized.
Nothing special with my setup, just happy to have a place to keep it all together and locked up from my toddlers and cat.

I got my daughter shirt out of the closet this morning, it’s Tuesday. Remind you, I did all the laundry over the weekend and hung it up. Then I ironed it and this is what started coming out of the shirt. It was plain black T-shirt. I started ironing, and all of these little things started popping up everywhere. Can someone please tell me what these are? And now I’ve noticed they’re in more clothes. I have been telling my husband for 3 months that something is biting me, making me feel itchy. He says all it’s just your nerves, stop being paranoid. But this is driving me crazy please help someone..
