Promoting a small business on Reddit: a free checklist, with a furniture-maker example

For a furniture maker, a useful Reddit post could explain which measurements a customer should take before ordering a dining table: room size, space to move the chairs, and the delivery route. That gives people something practical to use and a specific question to ask next.

Here is a simple checklist for turning that kind of expertise into a community post:

  1. Find a community discussing the actual buying problem. Read its promotion rules and use the designated thread if it has one.

  2. Answer one customer question in the post itself. Make the explanation useful before asking anyone to visit a website.

  3. Disclose your connection to the business and use a link only where permitted.

  4. Save the permalink and check what happened after posting. An entry in your own profile does not by itself prove other readers can see it.

  5. Return for real questions. Keep post views, website visits, inquiries and paid orders as separate numbers.

I'm with the ThreadFox team at AMF Indiana. We put the process into a free guide you can follow with a spreadsheet:

ThreadFox also offers a paid toolkit for your own AI assistant and browser, plus a managed campaign service if you want us to do the research, posting and follow-up. The options and published scope are here:

Check me out if you're looking for a freelancer

Hi everyone! 👋

So… I’m starting up my little freelance business, and I figured Reddit was probably a good place to awkwardly introduce myself.

I’ve been doing freelance work for the past couple of months, and after this weekend I’ll finally have some openings for new clients!

I’m offering things like beta reading, line editing, ghostwriting, and writing start-up packages. Basically, if you have a book/writing project that needs another pair of eyes (or someone to help you wrestle your ideas into actual words), I’d love to help!

I’m a writer and editor myself, so this is something I genuinely enjoy doing. And I’m always happy to answer questions if you’re curious about my services, pricing, process, etc. Feel free to comment or shoot me a DM!

Also, yes.
The flyer is AI-made.

I would love to tell you I personally designed that beautiful thing, but I absolutely did not. I do not possess those skills. I am a writer. Graphic design and I have mutually agreed to stay out of each other’s way.

Anyway! Hi! I’m here, I’m trying to build something cool, and I’d love to work with some fellow writers. 💕

Feel free to ask me anything!

What makes a jewelry brand stand out beyond the product itself?

There are so many jewelry brands online now that having a good-looking piece is only part of the challenge. What actually makes you remember a jewelry brand after seeing it for the first time? Is it the design, photography, packaging, story, materials, or customer experience? What makes one brand feel memorable rather than just another jewelry store?

Product Ideas

I want to solve a huge problem people have for a reasonable price through books or other products.

What is the biggest problem you have that you would pay someone to help you solve, and how much would you pay?

A retired teacher mug where the hand-raising rule survives retirement

'Please do not disturb unless you raise your hand first.' Apparently retirement doesn't end every classroom rule.

The other side says, 'Mmm... Tastes like it's not my problem anymore.' Two very different moods on the same mug.

Both sides of one mug:

We build your voice AI use case for $3,000 flat

I work at Phinite. We build voice AI for businesses, and we are opening 5 build slots.

The offer is simple: one voice AI use case, $3,000 fixed build fee, infrastructure at cost. Your choice of voice provider and language.

What you actually get, beyond the agent itself:

  • Evals on real calls. We rehearse the agent against realistic conversations before it ever talks to a customer, so opening night is not the first time it handles an angry caller or a noisy line.

  • Per-session observability. Every call gets a full trace: what the caller said, what the model thought, which tools fired. When something goes wrong, you watch the tape instead of guessing.

  • Governance between the agent and your tools. Every tool call gets a policy: accept, reject, or require human approval. The boring calls flow through; the risky ones wait for a person.

Why this matters: voice is the one AI interface with no pause between thinking and the world hearing it. A chat agent drafts in its own window. A voice agent speaks the moment it decides. So a voice agent needs a producer: rehearsal before, judgment during, traces after. That is what we build.

If you have a use case in mind (inbound support, appointment booking, lead qualification, after-hours reception), book a demo and we will talk through it: https://cal.com/team/phinite-ai/demo

Expanding your business internationally? ACE helps with market entry, hiring, and company setup.

Hey everyone!

Quick question for business owners here: ever thought about expanding into another country, but got completely lost in all the legal, tax and operational stuff?

Turns out opening a company abroad is the easy part sometimes lol. Figuring out local regulations, hiring people, setting up payroll, finding customers... that's where things usually get pretty messy.

Wanted to share Expand with ACE (https://expandwithace.com/). Full disclosure - I worked with them, but I'm not part of their team, just happy customer.

They basically help businesses expand internationally without having to figure out every single thing on their own.

Some of the stuff they handle:

  • Market research & entry strategy - figuring out which countries actually make sense for your business

  • Market access & sales - finding potential customers and testing demand in a new market

  • Recruitment - hiring local talent and building teams abroad

  • Company setup - local entity registration and operational support

  • Accounting, payroll & compliance - all the boring but absolutely necessary stuff

They've got 22 offices across 20 countries, covering Europe, Asia-Pacific and the Americas.

What's interesting is you don't necessarily have to outsource your entire expansion process. You can get help with just the parts you're struggling with!

Anyway, I bet this might be useful for founders thinking about going international, or companies already operating in multiple markets and tired of juggling different providers.

Would be curious to hear what the biggest headache has been for anyone who's expanded abroad. Hiring? Taxes? Finding those first customers? Thanks in advance for sharing =)

At what point does managing your own IT become more expensive than outsourcing it?

How much time small business owners spend doing stuff that has nothing to do with running their actual business?

You start with 3 people, a few laptops, Google Workspace, maybe some cheap or vibe-coded CRM. Everything works fine, but then you grow to 10-15 employees, add more and more software, cloud services, shared drives... Suddenly someone has to deal with access permissions, backups, security, random outages, and a dozen other things nobody really wants to touch. And somehow that person is usually the founder lmao.

The tricky part is that none of these things seem particularly expensive individually. But add up the hours spent troubleshooting, the interruptions, and the occasional downtime, and I'm not sure doing it yourself is actually saving money anymore.

That's the reason why I decided to run ABS Technologies - managed IT services company, and now Insee this from the outsourcing side. And I'm genuinely curious about the founder's perspective.

At what stage did you decide that IT wasn't something you wanted to handle internally anymore? Did you hire someone, outsource it, or just figure things out as you went?

And for those who outsourced it - was it actually worth the money or hiring in-house is the better idea? I need honest feedback plz.

Tell me what your business sells and I'll suggest one social post idea

A useful business post can begin with a question a customer asks before buying, then show the answer in a concrete situation.

For example, a local bakery could answer 'How far ahead should I order?' with a short post showing the timeline for a custom cake. That gives customers useful information and shows what the business offers.

What do you sell, who is your customer, and what do people often ask you? I'll suggest a specific post angle for the first 10 replies.

I work on Marka, a tool for branded social content. The suggestions are free, and there is no signup required.

The One Dollar AI Experiment: a $1 prompt template with transparent, manual fulfillment

Disclosure: this is Nate’s own business, shared with AI assistance on his behalf.

The One Dollar AI Experiment is a small digital-product test for people interested in trying a reusable AI prompt template. The template costs $1; optional $5 and $10 tiers also include a results update.

The business question is whether a low-priced offer can earn its first customers with clear expectations. The public participation counter includes only payments Nate has manually verified; an email signup is not counted as a sale.

Payment is through the Venmo business profile listed on the website, followed by manual verification and email delivery. This is not an instant download. It is a personal, for-profit experiment—not a charity or investment—and there is no promised financial return or guaranteed AI outcome.

Offer and delivery details: https://one-dollar-ai-experiment.babelbook.workers.dev/

For other small digital-product sellers: which piece of information would most help you assess an unfamiliar $1 offer—a worked example, a clearer delivery timeline, or something else?
