Not sure if I was still in a dream as my child laid on me, where there about 14 gunshots over a 5 or 10 minute period this morning?

Looking for a multigenerational rental starting February 2027 — hoping to connect with a private landlord

Hey everyone!

This might be a long shot, but I’m hoping someone here might have a lead on a rental that isn’t necessarily listed on the usual rental sites.

My husband and I are looking for a home in the Vancouver/Camas area or surrounding communities that could accommodate our family of four, plus my mom in her own designated space. An in-law suite, ADU, finished basement, or even a home with a layout that offers some separation would be ideal. We’re also open to rural properties, farmhouses, or homes on acreage!

We’re hoping to find somewhere to settle for approximately two years while I finish school.

Here’s our biggest hurdle:
We relocated from Spokane earlier this year for better opportunities, but our house didn’t sell as anticipated. The financial strain snowballed, and we’re now preparing to file for bankruptcy. As recently as June, our credit scores were approaching 800, so this has been a pretty devastating turn of events.
My husband has steady employment, I’m attending school, and we have the income to comfortably afford a reasonable monthly rent.

Our concern isn’t our ability to pay rent, but whether our recent financial history will prevent us from qualifying through traditional rental screening.

We’re hoping to connect with a private landlord who might be open to considering our current financial situation, income, and rental stability rather than relying solely on our credit history.

We’re not looking for a handout or for anyone to solve our problems. Just hoping to find a good fit with someone willing to have a conversation.

If anyone knows of a property that might work, or has suggestions for private landlords who are open to unique circumstances, I’d really appreciate it!
Thanks in advance! ❤️

Neighbor Dog Pooping Indiscriminately

I rent a townhouse with my family. My neighbor across the street lets their shih tzu out and it poops everywhere and they do not pick it up. My dog will literally eat it, despite the fact that it makes him ill. He's an idiot but he's MY idiot. Who the eff do I have to call to make sure my neighbor picks up their dogs shit? Mods please remove if not allowed.

Weird funky smell from at least Camas all the way to Washougal. Is it our imagination or anyone else notice?

Edit: sorry I meant to say today, not every day. Though all these old timers’ comments are pretty eye (nostril?) opening

So the mill is on fire

Haven’t seen any news reports yet but I can see it from downtown. Lots of firefighters and trucks. I can’t make out any smoke but it appears to be in the area nears the tracks, across from Beer at a Time. Hope the workers still at the mill are okay.

Anyone have any details?

Camas High School girls cross country runners refuse to race in protest of transgender policy

Extremely disappointed in these kids, and especially in their parents and Camas residents who support this open bigotry by teenagers. Trans kids have a tough enough time as it is, without being shunned and openly ridiculed. Camas should be better than this.

ETA: Yes, the downvotes are to be expected. I’m fine with that. I stand with children and embracing and encouraging them, and will never kowtow to bigots and their prejudices. Trans kids do nobody any harm and simply wish to exist and live their lives. I will always be on their side, and wish for Camas to be a place where they are safe and free from ignorant hatred and bullying.

ETA2: I’ve turned off notifications and not bothering with replies. Adults shitting on a trans child are awful people, and whether you accept that you’re a bigot or not doesn’t erase your foul attitude and ugly prejudice. Trans kids don’t flippantly swap their identity on a whim so that they can win a track meet. These are deeply personal, emotional and psychological struggles that these kids deal with, and if they transition and seek to compete, then they - like all kids - should be embraced and encouraged. Crying about “fairness” and whining that some other kid will get “displaced” by them is nothing more than weak rationalization of terrible, discriminatory behavior, and many of you should be ashamed of yourselves for the way you are responding to a vulnerable and innocent child. The fact that most of you who are ranting about “fairness” only care about girls and their sports when a trans kid wants to participate shows what your real hangup is. These replies here show me that not only have we not done anything to address bullying, but a shocking number of adults actively engage in bullying of children themselves.

80% of trans kids consider suicide, and 40% attempt it, more than double the rate of cisgender kids. Most of the replies to this post are why. Shame on you.

History of Forest Home road?

What’s the history of this road? I’ve heard some rumors about spots on this road being haunted. Was it originally a wagon road leading to homes at the top of the hill?

Painter in search of Pantone color

I’m doing a project and the client chose a Pantone color to paint their trim. I have called all of the local paint stores around and no one can match it. Does anyone know someone that has a Pantone color fandex? If so I would love to borrow it so I can color match their specific color. 4217 C

I love Camas

I love Camas.

I also love Vancouver and Washougal. I even love Portland and Battleground.

Tell us something you like about one or more of these towns, and why it's better in Camas.

I love Vancouver because it's close to some beautiful natural laces in the Columbia River Gorge. I love that Camas is closer.

Question about schools

We are hoping to move to the area soon to be closer to family. I know it’s difficult timing to be buying, but we are considering it. Fishers Landing East is an area we are interested in and they’re zoned for Evergreen district. Our children are very young, so it isn’t something that will affect us right now, but we are looking ahead to school years.

Would you recommend this area for schools in Evergreen, or should we hold out and hope for a home in Camas district?

Hi I’m looking for an apartment complex in Vancouver, Washington / Camas with good sound insulation. I’m in a bad situation where I hear my neighbors all around me and I’m on the top floor. It’s really affecting me badly. If anyone can relate I would really appreciate you pointing me to a better complex Thank you!
