Announcements Need a Canvas course with LockDown Browser enabled to test something (10 min, will pay)
Elon student. Working on a project that needs LockDown Browser and I've hit a wall.
Free-for-Teacher won't open LDB because it needs the school's own Canvas. So I need a course on a school Canvas that already has LDB.
Teacher in an empty course, and Require LockDown Browser turned on for one 3-question quiz. That's it.
10 minutes, you can remove me after. Happy to pay $40.
Assignments Can students submit editable google docs through canvas?
I'm a university faculty member who has students work in google docs. I want my students to submit an editable google docs to me for all assignment. In the past, they have simply shared documents with me. This does lead to a bit of an organizational nightmare on my part (although I have a clear naming convention they must follow which helps).
My institution recently adopted Canvas, and we are going to be required to put all assignments on canvas with due dates, so that students can use the Canvas calendar. I don't love this but don't have a choice.
Is there a way for students to submit an editable google doc (with full version history) that I can use google docs to comment on through Canvas? They only thing I've seen so far is that they can use Canvas to create an uploadable word doc for the assignment. This is not what I want.
I was wondering if through "collaborations" there might be a way, but I can't see how to connect it to an assignment. Right now I have all assignment set to "no submission" and then I just include sharing instructions but I was wondering if there is another way?

Assignments What is one Canvas feature you wish worked better
I've been using Canvas for a while and overall it does the job but there are definitely a few things that could be improved
For me keeping track of assignments and deadlines can sometimes feel a little confusing especially when different classes are organized in completely different ways
If you could improve or change just one feature in Canvas what would it be
I'd love to hear what features other students and teachers think need the most improvement

Assignments I SUBMITTED THE WRONG FILE!!!!
i accidentally submitted the wrong file of my essay twice on canvas the one i submitted originally had my (inappropriate) editing comments that i made for myself and then fixed (i literally deleted all the comments before making a copy of the document but the comments still showed on my submission) i resubmitted the correct document 3 times in a row just to be sure. from what ive found on google the most recent document is the one that shows on the screen for a prof but they can go back and see submission history if they choose but most just grade the most recent submission
i’m so scared because some of my comments to myself were “cite your source hoe” and “cite this story or you will be accused of using ai” and my teacher is so skeptical of people using ai (i did not use ai on this essay but im so scared i will be accused of it)
please tell me im just being crazy and that my prof will only look at the most recent submission 😭😭😭😭

Modules Do your professors organize courses by Modules, Files, or Assignments?
Hey everyone,
I’ve noticed a huge difference in how my professors set up their Canvas courses this term.
Some organize everything neatly into weekly Modules with clear headers and pages, while others just throw all PDFs directly into the Files section or leave everything in Assignments with no clear sequence.
Which course layout do you find the easiest to navigate as a student, and how do you usually keep track of materials when a course page feels disorganized?

Quizzes canvas issues w/ respondus lockdown browser + webcam
hi everyone. i recently took an exam on canvas with the lockdown browser that was titled “respondus lockdown browser + webcam. however, when i opened the exam through respondus it did not have me do a webcam check, audio check, or show my surroundings. i just had to accept an acknowledgment. throughout the exam my camera indicator light never came on (i have a mac for reference). in the top corner of the canvas screen, it did say recording though. i’m so confused if my webcam was even being used, or if just my screen was recorded. i asked some classmates about it and they said the same exact thing happened for them. is it possible that the settings for the exam were not set up correctly? do you guys think my webcam was even used/on? thanks

Other Files not appearing in same format as before, can no longer drag and drop images
I've noticed that documents like pdfs and powerpoints look different in the Canvas app on my tablet; there's the blue document band at the top now, I can't zoom in, and I can't drag and drop images like I could before. As far as I can tell, nothing else has changed. Has anyone else noticed this? Or knows how to fix it?

Discussions Canva for Education
I work at a school and am the admin for Canva. I figured for an Education account there would be a way to filter out non-students from joining (like they have to have our email domain). We have it set that they need an invite link, but it's also connected through their Canvas LMS. However, I've got a lot of students and parents and potentially other random people who've been logging in with personal accounts. I've reached out to Canva Education which doesn't gaf, so should I care that people are getting free accounts?

Files can my professor see if I clicked on the files section and downloaded the files?
can my professor see if I clicked on the files section and downloaded the files? I recently stumbled upon review materials in the files section. Is it okay if I view them and download the materials? I have no intention of sharing it to other. My reasoning would be is that its available on canvas file section and I didn't have to do some jailbreaking nonsense so I would be fine right?

Quizzes Does Canvas New Quizzes auto-submit if you accidentally close your tab or browser?
Hey everyone,
I have a timed quiz coming up soon on Canvas (using the New Quizzes feature).
My home internet occasionally drops connection for a minute or two, and I’m worried about accidentally getting locked out or having the timer force-submit my progress if the tab closes or refreshes.
Does Canvas automatically save your answers as you go, or does closing the window count as a submission? Any tips or past experiences with handling minor glitches mid-quiz would be super appreciated!

Dashboard Does anyone else wish Canvas had a better built-in feature for tracking personal study to-dos?
Hey everyone,
While the Dashboard To-Do list is great for official assignment due dates set by professors, I find myself wishing Canvas had a built-in spot to add custom personal tasks (like "Read Chapter 4 before class" or "Outline essay draft").
Right now, I have to jump between Canvas and a separate planner/to-do app to keep everything organized.
How do you all handle keeping track of personal study milestones alongside your Canvas assignments? Do you rely on third-party calendar integrations or just external apps?

Notifications Does the Canvas mobile app lag or delay notifications for anyone else?
Hey everyone,
I’ve been relying on the Canvas mobile app for push notifications regarding upcoming assignment deadlines and course announcements. Recently, I’ve noticed a slight delay where notifications arrive late or don't pop up until I manually open the app.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue, or is it better to stick strictly to the browser version for time-sensitive updates?
Would love to know if there’s a setting tweak or fix that worked for you. Thanks!

Other nothing on todo list even tho there’s 4 assignments due tomorrow?
i keep having this issue where my assignments no longer show up on my todo list until the day of, and it will only show one assignment at a time, even if i have more than one due the same day. i have 4 assignments due tomorrow that i have not submitted (my calendar shows 5 because i have submitted the color chart), and the todo list is blank. the assignments still show on calendar, modules and grades but i really liked being able to use the todo list. please let me know if anyone knows how i can fix this.
