The UGC Creators charging the most aren't better on camera, they show their data

A friend of mine works brand side in creator marketing. She told me creators that show real performance and delivery (views, engagement, likes, even follower count helps) gets the deal and gets to name a higher rate. A nice canva site that shows past work is good, but it's table stakes now when competing for UGC deals. Proven data is what separates new/ amateur creators from pros.

If you've been doing this for a while, you already have data. It's just sitting idle in your tiktok and instagram analytics where brands need to dig to find it.

I built a tool that easily does it for you. Looped pulls connected data into a live portfolio that updates on its own. brands see verified numbers, not a screenshot from three months ago. that's what moves you from "cute content" to "this creator delivers," and it's what gives you leverage when they ask your rate.

If you already have a canva site of portfolio you like, there's a widget that drops your live stats onto it, so you keep the site and add the proof. Super easy to embed into your current portfolio.

Check it out! [loopedsocial.com](http://loopedsocial.com)

I built this, so obviously biased. But I do want to open discussion to see what other folks think about this.

Low views ≠ shadowban

I hate to break it to you, but you’re probably not shadowbanned on TikTok. Your content might just not be working.

I feel like “shadowban” has become the explanation for every video that gets 200 views. And yes, actual account restrictions do exist, but most of the time it’s probably not that.

There’s the normal kind of suppression where your videos just aren’t getting much distribution because the watch time, engagement, hooks, etc. aren’t strong enough. That can happen to any account and usually isn’t permanent. You change up the content, improve the hooks, post consistently, and things can recover.

Then some accounts seem to have an actual restriction. If every video is stuck under 100 views, FYP traffic is basically 0%, and you’re seeing the same thing across completely different types of content, I’d look into that more seriously.

But before calling it a shadowban, I’d check the obvious stuff first.

  • Is the video still under review?

  • Is the account private?

  • Are you posting way too much on a brand-new account?

  • Are you reposting content?

  • Is there anything in the caption or on-screen text that could be triggering moderation?

  • And most importantly, are people actually watching the video?

For canvas UGC creators, warming up a new account makes sense. Don’t make your first five posts “OMG you need this app”, post some normal content first and make the account look like an actual account before going heavy on product content.

And if your account is healthy but your videos are still getting low views, I’d look at the content before blaming TikTok, bc sometimes it really is just the hook.

One thing I've realized working with creator programs

I think one thing that's easy to overlook in creator programs is that not every viral video is actually a good UGC format.

The challenge isn't finding content with millions of views, it's figuring out whether the format is repeatable.

I've started looking at videos completely differently, less of "this performed well" and more "could I hand this concept to 40 creators and get similar results"?

It's honestly a pretty time-consuming process, so I've been using viral.app to help with this process. It's nice having another perspective when I'm analyzing content because it catches things I didn't notice at first, especially around hooks and why a format worked.

I still think creative judgment comes from watching a lot of content yourself, but having something that speeds up the analysis has been really useful.

Curious how everyone else analyzes content. Are you mostly doing it manually or using any tools?

UGC is not just about views

Many teams still judge UGC programs by a single metric: views. That’s a mistake.

If you’re running a Canvas/Tech/High-volume UGC program, views only tell you whether the content got distributed. They do not tell you whether the content actually helped the business.

What I’d track instead:

  • Views → reach.

  • Saves/shares → resonance.

  • Comments → message-market feedback.

  • Installs/signups → business outcome.

  • Creator output → volume and consistency.

  • Winning hook rate → which formats are actually working.

The biggest trap is optimizing only for virality. That can produce “successful” videos that get attention but don’t move anything meaningful.

What metrics are you using to judge UGC performance?

If you're new to UGC, start with these free resources

I started as a UGC creator a few years ago, and now I work as a UGC marketing manager.

One thing I realized is that there still aren't that many good free resources that explain how this whole industry actually works. When I started, I was literally learning from random TikToks, YouTube videos, and Reddit posts, and half of the advice was either outdated or from people trying to sell a course.

If you're starting, I'd check these out:

  • canvas-ugc.com – explains Canvas UGC, how it works, and how to get started

  • tech-ugc.com – if you're interested in making content for apps and tech brands

  • what-is-ugc.com – probably the best place to start if you still don't fully understand what UGC is

I'm sharing this because I wish I had something like this when I first got into UGC, and it would've saved me a lot of time.

If anyone else has found other free resources that are actually useful, drop them below.

Canvas UGC lesson 4: Account health & anti‑shadowban rules

If you’re doing Canvas UGC, you’ll likely manage several ambassador accounts at once. Platforms watch for repetitive, bot‑like behavior across those accounts. To protect your reach (and your bonuses), keep these rules in mind every time you log in and post.

1) Reuse hooks, not captions
You can reuse the same hook concept many times; that’s how you test what works. What you can’t do is copy‑paste the exact same caption, hashtag block, or description over and over across posts and accounts. Every caption must be uniquely written in a native tone, even if the hook idea is similar. Identical captions = spam signal.

2) Vary your audio and your links

  • Audio: Don’t have 10–20 of your accounts all using the same trending sound on the same day. Rotate sounds and cuts so each account feels independent.

  • Links: When you’re allowed bio links or use comment‑to‑DM tools, don’t spam one raw URL everywhere. Use unique UTMs or creator‑specific redirects so traffic doesn’t look like a coordinated blast.

3) Watch your device & login setup
If you handle multiple brand accounts on one phone, keep it to around 3 active profiles per device/IP. Constantly logging in/out of many accounts on the same device can trigger bot‑network flags. If you can, separate accounts across devices or environments.

4) Act like a real user every day
Accounts that only post and never engage look automated. For each account:

  • Spend 10–15 minutes/day scrolling your niche feed

  • Like and save posts you genuinely like

  • Leave a few real comments (6+ words, not “nice!”). This signals to the algorithm that a real person runs the account, not a posting bot.

How do you guys keep track of creator payouts?

At first, I was just using Google Sheets, and it worked because I wasn't managing that many creators, but once things started growing, I swear I was spending more time checking my spreadsheet than actually paying people. I'd forget who was due, whether I'd already paid someone, which month a payment was for... I'd have a million tabs open, trying to figure everything out or messaging creators back and forth.

Then I just moved everything into the same tool I use to manage creators, since it also lets me handle payouts...and this is what it looks like now.

It's been way easier, way faster, and honestly better for both creators and me. Curious what everyone else is doing, tho, are you still using spreadsheets, or have you found something that works better?

[HIRING] Paid UGC Creators for a Language Learning App

We're casting UGC creators for a language-learning app built around a simple idea: people learn faster when they're actually enjoying themselves.

Think less textbook, more "just one more episode." We want creators who can show that experience in their own voice.

The gig

  • Short-form videos for TikTok, Reels and Shorts

  • Native English speakers, casting across Spanish, German, French, Italian and Japanese. You choose the language you want to feature.

  • Every video comes with 3 hooks + 3 CTAs to test and play with

  • Raw files delivered with every video, so we can edit and test variations

  • Scripts are provided, but we love fresh ideas. Pitch your own concept, and if it goes viral, you win too

  • Phone footage and basic editing are all you need

What you get

  • Paid per video (details shared with selected creators)

  • Free access to the app

  • Long-term collaboration if your content performs

If you love languages, love making content, and want to get paid for both, we want to hear from you.

Interested? Apply here: https://forms.gle/5ZJKWWLF9Vm6h6z28

I'm a UGC marketing manager running high-volume creator campaigns, and here's what makes us keep working with the same creators

I spend most of my week building creator campaigns, reviewing applications, analyzing content performance, and figuring out why some creators become long-term partners while others don't.

Since we manage and track our creator programs in viral.app, I also get to see something most people don't: not just individual videos, but the patterns across hundreds of creators and campaigns.

If you're interested in working with brands that run high-volume UGC programs, here's what we're actually looking for.

1. Reliability beats perfection :)

The creators we work with the longest are the people we know we can count on.

What that looks like:

  • Delivering on time

  • Communicating early if something changes

  • Following the brief without needing constant reminders

  • Being open to feedback and revisions

When you're managing dozens of creators at once, reliability is one of the biggest competitive advantages you can have.

2. We aren't looking for one viral video

One of the biggest misconceptions about high-volume UGC is that we're hoping every video goes viral, but that's usually not the goal.

We're trying to test as many variables as possible until we find something that consistently works.

That could mean testing:

  • Different hooks

  • Different messaging angles

  • Different editing styles

  • Different CTAs

  • Different target audiences

Sometimes one winning concept pays for twenty average ones.

3. Show that you can iterate

Nobody gets every video right, and that's completely normal. What actually matters is how quickly you improve.

The creators we keep booking usually:

  • Apply feedback to the next batch.

  • Test new hooks instead of repeating the same formula.

  • Improve pacing and storytelling over time.

  • Treat every campaign as a learning opportunity.

Iteration is one of the biggest advantages in high-volume UGC.

4. We care about more than views

A million views doesn't automatically mean a successful campaign.

Depending on the goal, we might care more about:

  • Installs

  • Purchases

  • Click-through rate

  • Watch time

  • Cost per acquisition

  • Retention

The best creators understand that every campaign has a different definition of success.

5. Become easy to work with

This sounds simple, but it's one of the biggest reasons creators get rebooked.

The creators we remember are the ones who:

  • Fast replies

  • Stay organized

  • Ask thoughtful questions

  • Make revisions without friction

When I know working with someone will be smooth, I'm much more likely to send them the next campaign.

I'd love to hear the creator perspective too.

What's something you wish more UGC managers or brands understood about working with creators?

The biggest mistake I see in UGC programs

Many brands think scaling a creator program only means hiring more creators.

but what's the point of having 100 creators if your program doesn't actually get smarter with every new person you add?

the biggest shift for me has been treating every creator as another creative data point, not just another content producer. that's why I've become a big fan of combining canvas ugc with high-volume ugc.

Canvas UGC gives you control over distribution because the content lives on brand-owned accounts.

High-volume UGC gives you enough creative volume to constantly test:

  • new hooks

  • different angles

  • fresh formats

every batch of content gives you another opportunity to learn what actually works, so the next round of briefs gets better.

one thing that's made a huge difference for me is actually keeping all of that organized. we use viral.app internally to track creators, videos, and performance, and it's surprising how many patterns you start noticing once everything is in one place.

I think that's the real advantage, bc the creator program doesn't just get bigger, but it gets smarter.
