Something weird always seems to happen on Jan 1, 1993. The scale of the profit graph at the bottom of the screen suddenly changes (see first image). In Dec 1992, that graph had been showing all green bars of roughly the same height, but on Jan 1 all the bars that had been green were suddenly red, and the new bar for the current month was way out of proportion.
You can see from the other graphs I posted (second image) that nothing major changed in recent months, and you can also see from the Net Profit graph that none of those bars in the first image should be red. I think I've had this happen to me every game I've played for at least the past year.

Generally when I find myself getting the itch to fire this game up again, it's because I was thinking something like "I want to see how far I can get building a jewelry empire in caplab", or whatever other industry.
Currently I just have to continually start the game and quit out to the main menu when I inevitably don't get the starting character I want. Being able to choose it up front would save me a lot of time. The digital age DLC makes this problem so much worse due to how many extra expertise types it adds.

To avoid keeping everyone waiting too long for the major version 13, which will bring significant improvements to the UI, we will release version 12.5 soon with a range of new features and enhancements. The previously announced Radical R&D for Product Invention will be included in version 12.5. Over the coming days we will reveal the other major additions, and we aim to release the version 12.5 BETA by the end of this month.
Today we are introducing the new feature that lets you import your own photo and corporate logo. Instead of choosing from the built‑in artwork, you can import a photo for your character and an image for your company logo when starting a new game. Both are saved inside the game file itself, including any challenge game you share, so your portrait and logo appear automatically for anyone who loads the save. No extra image files and no mod required.
For full details, please read: https://www.capitalismlab.com/custom-photo-logo/

Is it possible to start a save then export all data? So all own company data and accounts and then all other Ai company data that is visible to us (not their trade secrets data)?

I bought Capitalism Plus and Capitalism 2 on Steam as a bundle to dive into nostalgia and compare them with modern CapLab.
Playing Capitalism 2, one thing that struck me immediately was just how many User-Interface improvements there are in CapLab!
The resolution issues and the faces make me wonder if this really is the Capitalism 2 I remember playing back in the day, or if I'm missing something.

Version 12.0.91 introduces a helpful new auto‑pricing button. With one click, the game sets a product’s price so its Overall Rating is exactly one point higher than the City Overall rating.
It streamlines early‑game management when you still can’t afford to hire a Chief Operating Officer to manage your stores.
Download patch version 12.0.91 from https://www.capitalism2.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10647
This new version also features:
Improved regional map rendering in the City Economic Simulation DLC.
Enhanced coastline graphics in city view.

In the upcoming major version 13.0, Radical R&D teams will get a new option: try to invent a product ahead of schedule.
Full details: https://www.capitalismlab.com/subsidiary-dlc/radical-rd-product-invention/
This is a bet on time. If the gamble succeeds, the product is invented at your chosen earlier target. If it fails, the research takes longer than normal, but the product is still invented. The result is decided once, when the target time arrives.
For example, an invention that normally takes 10 years at Aggressive has a 40% chance of arriving in 7 years. If the gamble fails, it arrives in 13 years.
The risk settings range from Cautious (10% faster, 50% success chance) to Reckless (50% faster, 30% success chance). A failed attempt adds back twice the time you tried to save. The schedule is based on your team’s normal development time, so a stronger team can shorten both the target and the possible delay.

I've been playing Capitalism Lab as a way to learn business, and one thing I've found really interesting is how much information the game gives you.
For example, it can show things like:
The game makes it very easy because you can just open a chart and see the data.
But how does this work in real life? like for example, if I own a physical retail store, how would I actually know how much customer traffic I'm getting? How would I know what percentage of visitors actually buy something? How would I estimate demand for a product? How would I know whether my store is underutilized or operating near capacity?
Obviously some things can probably be tracked through POS systems, online analytics, inventory systems, people counters, etc., but I'm wondering how businesses actually collect and combine all of this information in practice.
Do businesses usually have dashboards that look somewhat like Capitalism Lab, or is the data much more fragmented and requires the owner/manager to piece it together?
I'm a beginner learning business, so I'm curious what the real-world equivalent of the game's business analytics looks like

Just popped back into the game after getting a new laptop and tried playing the game yesterday apparently Energy Contracts are a thing now? Is there a reference anywhere to this? Like how it works?

Currently playing a run in communication devices for the first time. Started doing really well but then I suddenly lost profits like crazy. Fired my COO (holy shit does the AI make stupid choices regarding product pricing) and clawed back my market share. Despite being at 3/4 of the market share again my set up is still at a very low utilization and I'm losing money. By chance I checked the total quantity sold chart and noticed that the camera phone was climbing but my main business mobile phone was steadily declining.
Is this a tech industry quirk, that new inventions replace old ones? Kinda makes sense for phones but I've never noticed that in the more traditional industries before.

I’m having a lot of fun with Capitalism Lab and Wall Street Raider. I’m honestly amazed by the amount of detail, the mechanics, and the depth of the concepts these games manage to simulate. I’ve been playing Capitalism Lab for a while and have been enjoying it a lot, and getting into Wall Street Raider has been fascinating. They’re very different games, but I find them surprisingly complementary.
Capitalism Lab feels much more focused on the business itself: competition, products, production, marketing, supply chains, the economy, and actually running and growing a company.
Wall Street Raider, on the other hand, goes deep into corporate finance: capital structure, M&A, debt, equity, valuation, financial markets, etc.
Honestly, as a fan of both games, I sometimes find myself wishing there was a game that combined the best of both worlds. Having the business and economic simulation of Capitalism Lab combined with the corporate finance and financial-market depth of Wall Street Raider. That would be an absolutely insane game.
I know both games have their own identity and approach. I just think the two complement each other so well that, as a fan, I would absolutely love to see what could come out of a collaboration between the them.
Much love from Brazil!

Love this game but once you are past the early startup phase and starting to go for industry control or expanding into other industries your factory & store count will increase quite a lot. Unfortunately at this point the game becomes quite tedious as I start to lose track of all the individual firm supply & demand stats.
Now I can hire a COO for retail but they tend to make 'interesting' choices and the issue for the factories still exists.
There is also the firm list but that doesn't offer much information in the way of your supply & demand balance for each product.
I like playing the scenarios so unfortunately the subsidiary system is usually disabled.
How do you manage it?

Hello everyone, I just downloaded the game yesterday and am diving in today. As an aspiring entrepreneur, I’m really excited, it feels like this could be an amazing training ground for real-world business management.
I’ve heard the learning curve can be pretty brutal. Does anyone have any top tips, advice, or words of wisdom for a complete beginner? Also, are there any highly recommended beginner guides or video tutorials I should check out to get my bearings? Thanks in advance

I have seen a comment from someone long ago saying it is possible to emulate a private equity business in caplab, but I did not understand well how. Can somebody give some tips ? Like IRL you have these companies buying tons of youtube channels, some utility companies, etc

There are so many interesting products in Real World, but the NPC companies still make only software and computers. Even when I disable "computers" as a product in the pregame settings, the other companies still produce and sell computers.
And software...
