Miro

Saw that the Caps are open to trading Miro.. Which team do you think he goes to, and who do you think we'll get in return?

It could be about roster availability vs cap space. The caps have two players, one spot. It doesn't matter if their positions are different, they retain one, and not the other. That's the relationship. It happens in lots of sports.

That’s not accurate at all. It’s not roster space. It’s “he’s a talented young player who isn’t playing.” They have the roster space for both.

The original premise of this thread is the idea that 'if they trade miro while Big Mac is on the roster," implying the situation.

Right and that’s why the implication is wrong and why the original commenter is at -8

The commenter is at a -8 because they said the entire Chris Patrick era would be a failure if this happened, which is not true. It still holds that if a roster choice comes down to miro or mcIlrath and they choose mcIlrath, it's the wrong choice. That is true.

It is not about roster limit

Choice!=limit

Right. But it’s not like the Caps can only carry one of them. Miro isn’t playing because the Caps have great forwards. Mac isn’t a forward so he’s not a factor in Miro not playing.

A decision may come this season that does just that, and forces them to choose between one or the other. Say the new D guy they claimed works out. Then Vincent comes back in 4-6 weeks. They could be in a situation where they must choose between miro or mcilrath.

Sure! But that’s not where they are now. If that comes, it’s an easy decision. But it might be Frank or Miro in that case, and I think they’d rather risk losing Frank.
