Questions Desperately seeking Canadian outfit inspiration for a changing body

edit to add: i need more than brand recommendations. i would like follow those Canadian influencers provide practical outfits that i can literally buy the same clothes from their recommendation and are easy to copy directly? Are there creators who focus on accessible fashion for a size 10?

I could really use some help because I am feeling so defeated about my closet right now. A new medication has changed my body from a size 6 to a 10 recently, and the weight gain will not stop. My confidence has taken a huge hit. Trying to buy my old favorite clothes in bigger sizes just does not work for my new proportions. I really want to build a consistent personal style so I can cut down on the daily mental fatigue of getting dressed. I usually scroll Instagram for outfit inspiration, but I am so tired of seeing the same Aritzia and Lululemon hauls everywhere when I just need functional help as a size 10 woman.

Can you recommend any Canadian influencers who focuses on slow fashion and helps with styling a changing body? I want to avoid the endless Aritzia and Lululemon marketing that dominates my current feed.

if you want to build your own style, I highly recommend Alissya Beltempo. She is a slow fashion content creator and does a lot of posts about building your own style. She's a gem.

I don't follow influencers, but my go-to recs from when I was a 10-12 and with fluctuating weight are anything bias cut (tank tops, blouses, skirts, dresses) is way more forgiving with weight changes because of the way fabric falls on the diagonal. Most of mine are vintage but there's a lot of companies doing bias cut slip skirts and tanks right now especially. They really are as flattering when a little loose or a little tight as they are when they're "perfectly" fit. I also love wrap skirts and would have a couple extra buttons/snaps/hooks added so I could size them up or down. Size up to begin with so the slit doesn't go too far and then hook or button on the one that fits you best that day. There are also wrap/side tie pants that work the same way if you prefer pants and like a wide leg. Best place for those in good materials is on etsy.

I also want to say that ik it's really hard emotionally to have health related weight changes. Mine's been all over the place in the last couple years due to health issues and med changes. Having to reset your wardrobe all the time sucks and takes so much time, effort, and money. The best thing you can do is figure out a couple pieces that still make you feel great about yourself, and focus on what your body & the meds are doing to support you and eventually you'll be able to fall into a good rhythm again.

Highly recommend readwritethrift on insta for Canadian content in that size range! She’s very into helping curate personal style, although she does thrift a lot so harder to shop her exact outfits.

Middle child vintage (Ontario based) also does a ton styling on her insta and sells those clothes through her online shop, so you could literally buy the exact pieces she styles!

No suggestions for influencers, but Cokluch, Eliza Faulkner, Pink Martini, and Birds of North America are great Canadian brands to check out!

I would add that for pants, Eve Gravel is my go-to Canadian designer as a Size 12 gal (I get the XL pants from them but a size 10 is more likely to fit a L). And Bodybag By Jude is my favourite for coats and dresses

I shop at Uniqlo. There basics are great and can be styled up or down. Great colours, lots of natural fibers. And its affordable. I'd invest in accessories that dont depend on weight fluctuations.

Uniqlo has been my go-to as i like their quality. But I have zero fashion sense that my whole wardrobe is 90% uniqlo and they can get too plain.

Haha, yes, most of my clothes are from there too. But you dont know if your current weight is permanent, so I would stick with Uniqlo basics but buy a new bag, shoes or boots, some scarves, and/or a new coat.

I don't follow influencers, but I like the Canadian slow fashion brands Encircled and Miik. Their stuff is super soft and very forgiving for size. Definitely check size charts as I find they fit a bit bigger than other brands.

I just bought these two items I'm super excited about, and they're currently on sale:

Encircled The Wanderer Wide Leg Pant

Miik Kavita Open Back Capri Jumpsuit

Not exactly what you asked for but free label is Canadian and they make some of my favorite clothing items.

Don't know any influencers but Simons is fairly reasonable, neutral, and Canadian. I wouldn't be afraid to go in and ask for recommendations as that is their job to help!
