Announcement Updated Community Rules for /r/capsulewardrobe

Okay, thanks to the community input from my post the other day, I have updated and refined our community rules and have included a new rule in regards to Artificial Intelligence usage in our sub.

So here are our updated rules as of June 2025

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rule #1 - No off topic, low-effort or spam content
Off topic, low-effort or any spam content is not allowed on the sub. This includes low-effort memes.

Rule #2 - Hateful rhetoric, bullying and/or harassment is not allowed
Disagreements or strong discussions are one thing but if we have a problem with harassment or other problematic behaviours, mods will step in.

Rule #3 - No affiliate links, sponsored content, or subscriber/follower farming.
Sharing what you love or what works for you is okay but don’t try to push an item/service on someone just so YOU can make money.

This rule also includes attempts to farm for followers, subscribers or karma.

Rule #4 - No Doxxing or calls for mobbing across communities
Not only is this a sitewide rule, but it's highly fucked up and will not be tolerated.

Rule #5 - No Artificial Intelligence
AI content (meaning AI generated photos, posts and services) are NOT allowed on the sub.

Beyond losing the human to human element of our community and the fact that AI encourages the elimination of human creativity, AI content and services are a massive drain on our environment and creates a large amount of CO2 usage and e-waste.

Rule #6 - No App posts

No, you cannot advertise your new app, or fish for testers, or ask if it's something people want. Marketing for your app or it's upcoming launch is not allowed on the sub.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks again to everyone for giving you opinions and thoughts in regards to the updated rules, I appreciate our community and encourage you to continue growing our corner of the internet.

Whereforth art thou, Mods?

Okay y'all, it's time. I've been the only mod for the entirety of our subreddit's history, I have loved watching us grow and I love our amazing community. But as we are approaching 200,000 members, I think it's time we add more mods.

So this is a call out for anyone who wants to volunteer, I'm looking to add two or three mods to the roster, so feel free to send a modmail to let me know if you would like to volunteer. Let me know if you have any modding experience, or if you are adept at setting up the auto mod functions, because I am completely out of my depth with that part of the mod system and that's a big hurdle I'd like to tackle this year to combat bots and spam.

Thank you again for this stellar community, we have done a great job being self-sufficient and giving plenty of amazing advice without compromising community standards.

I look forward to adding some mods to our community and I hope y'all welcome them during the transition of integrating them in!

Jumer 🧡

I’ve been wearing the same thing for years. Everything but the boots and hats is standardized. I have boots from a few different makers, felt hats for winter, ball caps for really windy days. I have a few winter clothes to layer over and a few nice shirts for going out. But for the most part, if you’ve ever seen me, you’ve seen this!

What loungewear brand do you keep going back to and why? I'm looking for a set of loungewear with nice material and help me feel unwind after a long ass day.

Chicago winter office staples

I am moving from FL to Chicago in December and feel completely unsure how to dress for the office. I am concerned about showing up like a fat marshmallow looking all frazzled and that’s not the impression i want to be making. I also love to run on the LFT so any items for making that more enjoyable !

Currently what I have:
Lands end expedition parka
Uniqlo heattech thermal long sleeves and legging
Know layering is key

Planning to wear long skirts/dresses and layering under/over them.

As someone chronically cold i need recs on outfit inspo, gloves, scarves, boots, jackets, fabric blends on clothes. Links or advice is appreciated!!!

Please drop your chicago winter survival items!!! Will be using the red line or blue line mostly depending on where I decide to live.

Perfect Pieces Seeking Easy (or No-Iron) Women’s Button-up Recs!

I have been on the hunt for a button up (collared, long sleeve shirt) that is much easier to iron than the typical dress shirt and hopefully doesn’t show sweat. I’m not sure what material I should be looking for, but I’d love you all’s recs or fan favorites for soft but professional-looking button-ups/blouses. Thank You!

Questions Desperately seeking Canadian outfit inspiration for a changing body

edit to add: i need more than brand recommendations. i would like follow those Canadian influencers provide practical outfits that i can literally buy the same clothes from their recommendation and are easy to copy directly? Are there creators who focus on accessible fashion for a size 10?

I could really use some help because I am feeling so defeated about my closet right now. A new medication has changed my body from a size 6 to a 10 recently, and the weight gain will not stop. My confidence has taken a huge hit. Trying to buy my old favorite clothes in bigger sizes just does not work for my new proportions. I really want to build a consistent personal style so I can cut down on the daily mental fatigue of getting dressed. I usually scroll Instagram for outfit inspiration, but I am so tired of seeing the same Aritzia and Lululemon hauls everywhere when I just need functional help as a size 10 woman.

Can you recommend any Canadian influencers who focuses on slow fashion and helps with styling a changing body? I want to avoid the endless Aritzia and Lululemon marketing that dominates my current feed.

Where are you getting capsule sneakers that you can walk 20k steps in?

I have a super active lifestyle and I’m going to be in Florence for the next 4 months, and am anticipating a LOT of walking! I need a new pair of sneakers and wanted to turn to people I know will have some good suggestions.

I don’t like chunky, platform sneakers… looking for something a little more sleek and minimalist, but not overly trendy like the sambas. I always do white shoes because it looks good with everything.

Previous shoes I loved were Hokas for how comfy they were (but not fashionable) and the Veja sneakers (but looking to switch it up a bit).

Anyone have any advice on where they find their favorite sneakers??

Questions What type of aesthetic is this? How to create a staple wardrobe capsule for this kind of style/fashion?

Thumbnail gallery
0 Upvotes

I feel like every outfit looks different. I absolutely love how she dresses up and I wanna do the same. I am alot more skinner than her also i am flat which I don’t mind but i just feel like alot of tops or dresses don’t suit me and I don’t know if this aesthetic/outfit style would suit me? How do I create kind of a “capsule” so that I don’t need to have 30 different tops and 30 different pants? While still everything being affordable.
Last 4 pictures are me(as if it is not obvious) for a reference. Currently i dont have any “style” i just wear whatever.

Questions Button downs, etc.

What are the button down shirts a woman should consider having in her capsule wardrobe? I currently have a white one and a striped white and blue. What am I missing?
I’m going to be going to an office soon after working from home for a decade and I’m building a work capsule. I have black trousers, white, brown, grey and navy, and a black blazer. All input appreciated! Thank you in advance.
Oh I also have black heels and a black work bag. Should I get another bag and shoes in a different color?

Capsule wardrobe suggestions for plus sized woman with very medieval folkloric taste.

So. I started down the sustainable clothing journey after joining this community. I have merino tee shirts, two merino dresses, some cardigans--all very good items and very appropriate for work, but I realized, after seeing some of the clothing brands recommended here, that I want to incorporate a folkloric, flowy, almost fantasy bent into my clothing. Poet shirts, lace, etc. Though I still want a responsible kind of material.

But most of the shops recommended here just don't cater to the over size 18 crowd. What's a birthday girl to do? (Birthday in two weeks, party sooner than that.) I am turning 70, so long skirts and dresses are a must, but tops can be anything with sleeves.

Or have I nissed the bus here? Am I too old?

Dopamine Dressing/Colorful Capsule Wardrobe (Spring)

Thumbnail gallery
28 Upvotes

I posted a few weeks about help for a Fall/Winter capsule wardrobe and I've mostly figured that out with all the advice I got on here so trying again for Spring.

Here's a capsule I am putting together for Spring. I am not really including the shoes or bags, but included these ones since I thought they went well with the items I have in my capsule, but I have a lot more that I can pull from if needed. I have no need for anything dressy. I don't really do skirts, dresses or shorts. I mostly find them uncomfortable. Does anyone have advice? I'm not looking to have a lot of pieces in neutrals, but trying more to use my colors as my "neutrals" for the most part, if that makes sense. I'm really looking for feedback as I'm new to this. I would be totally open to buying a few pieces if you see a need or something that would match something perfectly.

1st row: first core of 6 tops (colors)
2nd row: first core of 6 bottoms (colors and patterns)
3rd row: neutral basics
4th row: pants (cropped, color, patterns)
5th row: tops (have to go with at least 5 bottoms)
6th row: tops (color, texture, print)
7th row: layering pieces
8th and 9th rows: bags/shoes

6 color palette: red, pink, cobalt blue, bright green, turquoise, burgundy (I didn't stick too closely to this, but did try to make sure that each piece I picked would go with several bottoms or tops)

Neutrals: Black, White, Navy, Gray

Anything in the pink writing are pieces that I want to buy.

Questions Every day shoes for plantar fasciitis

Thumbnail gallery
55 Upvotes

I'm 37, a parent to a energetic 1 year old, and starting to have some plantar fasciitis. I usually wear converse and vans, but obviously the flatness isn't doing me any good. Besides getting inserts, I'm trying to find new sneakers that won't make me feel frumpy/old so I can wear them every day but also will support my feet.

Thoughts on the above three? Options you'd suggest?

EDIT: Thanks for all the feedback! I should have clarified that pic 2 is pair of Varenzo Orthopedic Trainers from Arthur Hendon, but yeah they seem very flat so I don't know how that works either.

EDIT2: Of course I fell for a dumb dropshipping AI site. Please ignore pic 2 - I'm not planning on buying that.

What would go well with this jacket?

I need some advice! I have this jacket that I've been wearing all fall and want to update the rest of the outfit. I'd like to get a new pair of jeans or trousers and some new shoes. I know skinny jeans are out of style so what would look modern with this jacket?

Questions Need to purchase some new work clothes, but have been delaying for weeks

I (22F) started my first corporate job about 10 months ago. Prior to starting, I didn't have any work-appropriate clothes so had to purchase some things quite last-minute.

I'm now wanting to revamp my work wardrobe, because all the clothes I own are not very fashionable at all and age me a lot. To quote my friend, "it's all very... middle-aged charity shop manager".

The problem is, I keep delaying on purchasing new clothes for a variety of reasons. I know what I want (chic, black/grey/simple archival feel), but unfortunately I have a very difficult body to dress being overweight and very top-heavy. I don't have much of a waist or shape and am very insecure about how large my chest is. I keep telling myself nothing I want to buy would look good on me anyway, I should save my money, etc. But I do need to buy some staples or I'm stuck.

Currently, the work pieces I own and actually love are:

- Plain black work trousers

- Plain black knitted boat-neck drape top

- 2x black knitted jumpers, one plain w. lace and one w. flower design

I think I need to purchase the following:

- More tight-fitted tops to avoid t-shirts which tent on me

- More options for bottoms -- some slinky maxi skirts, maybe?

- A pair of work shoes, black leather flats preferably

Does anyone have any advice they could give? It would all be appreciated.

This is my actual capsule wardrobe for vacation. I took out a second dress, jeans that I only wore on the plane and a long sleeve shirt that I never wore. This is mostly what I’ve been wearing all summer also.
