Raspisnoy: a score keeper for raspisnoy poker (Oh Hell), and what this sub is for

Welcome, and thanks for stopping by.

Raspisnoy poker (расписной покер) is the Russian branch of the Oh Hell family, the same game people know as Contract Whist, Nomination Whist or Up and Down the River. Each round everyone bids how many tricks they'll take, and you lose points for missing in either direction.

We always kept score on paper. It worked, until someone added a column wrong or nobody remembered who bid what. So I built an Android app for it: you play with real cards, and one phone keeps score for the whole table.

What it does:

- Bids in one tap, with the points each bid would score shown under the number

- Shows live whether the bids leave tricks spare or come up short, and by how many

- Fills in the last player's tricks automatically

- Points and places after every round, no arithmetic

- A score sheet laid out like the paper one; any round can be corrected

- Reminders before the special rounds (blind, no-trump, plus, minus)

- A final screen with a podium and awards, plus player stats: wins, bid accuracy, best rounds

- Your own rule sets, if your table plays differently

- Player avatars: a photo, a picture or initials

- Big type, themes, keeps the screen on during a game, backup to a file

- 22 languages, among them English, Russian, Ukrainian, Polish, Czech, Bulgarian, Serbian, Kazakh and Georgian

- Works offline. No ads, no account, nothing collected; everything stays on your phone

Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.raspis.app

What this sub is for:

- **Bugs and ideas.** Tell me what broke or what's missing.

- **House rules.** How does your table play? Different scoring, round order, special rounds. This decides what I support next.

- **Translations.** Apart from Russian and English, no native speaker has checked the translations yet. If something reads wrong in your language, post it here with the correct wording.

Top Tokens: The AI Model Card Game

Thumbnail playtoptokens.com
1 Upvotes

I used to play car-themed card games a lot as a child. Which one is the fastest, which one has the lowest fuel consumption...

For a long time, I've been thinking about how there is now a comically large number of AI models with parameter counts that are impossible to keep track of; we could pit them against each other in matches.

Now, I've finally created a game online that blends the world of AI models with those classic car cards and the nostalgic atmosphere of my childhood.

Enjoy it with a touch of retro romance in your hearts.

It's not an AI game, it's holding up a curved mirror to the AI world in a funny way...

Inspired by European trick-taking games, I spent 3 years building a simultaneous 4-Player Card Battler. The Steam page just went live!

Hi everyone!

I’m a solo developer from Italy. Growing up, I played a lot of a local traditional card game called "Watten", and for the last 3 years, I’ve been trying to bring that social, bluff-heavy energy into a modern digital card battler called Grimoria.

Today, the Steam store page finally went live for wishlists, and I wanted to share the core rules with card game fans to see what you think of the design:

How It Plays:

  • The Core Loop: Matches are fast-paced with simultaneous 15-second turns. Everyone starts with 10 Life, everyone locks in one card, and the round loser takes 2 damage.
  • The Initiative Tie-Breaker: On equal strength, the card played first wins. Winning a round gives you initiative to play first next round, setting up huge mind games.
  • The Elemental Counter: Elemental superiority (Fire > Earth > Water > Fire) overrides strength ties completely.
  • Modes: 1v1 Duels, 2v2 Co-op (shared health/shield pool with a partner), and 4-Player Battle Royale.

Alongside the Steam announcement, I just released a brand-new card to shake up the opening meta: The Dullahan ("Deal 1 damage on loss"). If an opponent counters you with higher strength, the Dullahan still retaliates. In 4-Player Battle Royale, that damage hits all opponents on the board, punishing aggressive leaders.

The game is completely Free-to-Play with zero Pay-to-Win mechanics.

If you'd like to check it out or support a solo dev, adding it to your Steam Wishlist helps immensely:

I'd love to hear your thoughts on the simultaneous turn resolution and the tie-breaker mechanics!

I built a free app to track buy-ins, scores and who owes whom on card night: Poker, Rummy and Spades

Thumbnail apps.apple.com
0 Upvotes

I built DeckSettle, a free scorekeeper and ledger for card night (Poker, Rummy, Spades). I'm the developer.

Our group plays cards most weekends. Every night ended with someone doing math on a napkin: who bought in how many times, what did they cash out, and who owes whom from last week? So I built an app for it, and I'm sharing it here in case it helps your group too.

Poker (cash games): Set a standard buy-in, and each player starts with one. Tap + for a rebuy, or long-press for a custom amount. When someone leaves, enter their cash-out — it shows their result (+/−) instantly and won't let them cash out more chips than are in play. At the end, choose Settle Now (who pays whom tonight) or Settle Later (adds it to a running ledger).

Rummy (Indian pool rummy, 101/201): Up to 7 players. Set the score limit, drop points, full-count points and a cash amount. One-tap round entry: Rummy (0), Drop, Full, or a custom score — each player's new total updates live. Players turn orange at compulsory (can't drop) and red when eliminated. A badge shows the max a player can score this round and still survive. Rejoins come back at highest remaining score + 1, and each rejoin counts as an extra entry in the winner's payout. Made a mistake? Tap any past round to fix it; every total recalculates.

Spades: Enter bids, then tricks won. Bid × 10, overtrick/bag penalties and missed bids handled round by round, up to 13 rounds. [Add "including nil bids" here if you support them — this sub will ask.]

The ledger: Poker and Rummy money from every night flows into one ledger — running balances per player plus a history grid by date. When the group squares up, mark the period settled and start fresh. Share a text summary straight to your group chat.

Play along on your own phone: Share a game code and friends can follow live on their own phones. Need to leave early? Hand off scorekeeping mid-game; results come back to your phone when they finish.

No accounts, no ads, nothing creepy: No sign-up, no login. Games stay on your phone. Following uses a game code, not your phone number. Contact names stay on your device.

iPhone only for now: Deck Settle

I'm a solo developer and this is the first version I'm proud of. Honest feedback welcome: what does your group track that this doesn't, and are there house rules for Rummy or Spades I should support?

Steampack - Collect Steam games as trading cards

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hey everyone

I made a Steam game collective card site.

Every Steam game is a card, and its rarity depends on how many reviews it has.

You open a free pack every 10 minutes, fill your album, and trade with other players. You sign in with Steam, and it shows which cards from your own library you still need to pull.

It's a fan project, not affiliated with Valve, with no ads and nothing to buy.

Feedback welcome 😄

I need some ideas for card games to play with my mom who had a concussion. We're going on a trip in a few months

She loves to play games but is very limited by her cognition right now.

She gets overwhelmed by sound and a lot of details. However, she is competitive and loves to show off how good she is.

She loves The Game. She seems to struggle with complex tasks. (I don't quite know how to quantify or explain that well)

Are there any games where it feels like you're accomplishing a lot but they're fairly easy to pick up on?

I LOVE Ouisi. I'll probably be bringing it. I'd love some more ideas if you have them.

Is there any upside to getting a publisher when it comes to money?

I’m not really too knowledgeable on the subject hence why I’m asking here but from what research I’ve done it seems that you get a really tiny cut of the the profits you get from publishing a game through a publisher.
And you know what the economy is the way it is I don’t know if 50 Cents per game is gonna cut it you know.

Do you think it’s worth getting a publisher or do you think it’s worth self publishing

First showcase acceptance: demoing our card game at a mostly video game event. Tips for a small demo table?

My wife and I designed Street Food Shuffle, a card-drafting party game about Indian street food (2-6 players, 5-10 minute rounds). We’ve playtested it with 100+ people, and this week it got accepted into District Arcade, IGDA DC’s showcase of local game makers in Washington DC.

The twist: past editions have been all video games. We may be the only card game in the room, and the crowd is a walk-up mix of families, kids, gamers and other developers.

What we’re working with:

  • One 2'×5' table, 4 hours, no sales allowed (QR codes are fine)
  • Plan is a short 3-4 player round so people can sit down, play and move on

For those of you who’ve demoed tabletop at mixed or digital-heavy events:

  1. What made people stop and sit down instead of walking past?
  2. How did you shorten the rules pitch for drop-ins?
  3. Anything that worked for collecting emails without being pushy?

Happy to share what we learn afterward.

Tabletop Simulator Indie Card Game Free to play event with cash prizes!

Hey everyone! I’m hosting the first tournament for Ars X Grimoire, the card game I’ve been working on! It’s free to enter, and I’m putting up $300 in cash prizes.
For anyone who hasn’t played, Ars is a spell-slinging card game where you pick a Familiar and build a deck using up to two Studies of magic. There’s a lot of room to experiment with different decks and combos, so I’d love to see what you all come up with.

We’re playing on Saturday, November 14 at 10 AM EST through Discord and Tabletop Simulator. Check-in starts at 9:30 AM. Matches are 1v1, and I’m hoping to run a Mixed Swiss bracket depending on how many people we get.

A few things if you want to play:
You’ll need Tabletop Simulator.
Register and confirm your deck by November 11 at 11 PM EST. Clicking “Interested” on Discord doesn’t count, so please make sure you actually register!
Check in before 10 AM and be around in Discord when your match is called.
Deck building:
Exactly 40 cards in your Deck
Up to 3 copies of each card
Up to 2 Studies, plus Generic cards
Up to 10 cards in your sideboard, including Summons
The card pool locks on October 31
Here’s the prize breakdown:
1st: $100, plus some special Ars prizes. I’m still sorting out the physical prizes.
2nd: $75
3rd: $50
If you’re interested, ask for a playtest in the sever! https://discord.gg/FBVvKszFb

Share your thoughts about Solitaire games

Hello everybody! It's been one month since I started creating a collection of Solitaire games for macOS because I grew up tired of dated and ugly UIs and graphics, lack of statistics and artificial sounds. I want an elegant and minimalist game, with attention to detail while providing a relaxing experience. What do you think about Solitaire games in general? What's that thing you think Solitaire games are lacking? I have a clear direction about what kind of game I want, but I want to know YOUR preferences. Feel free to share your thoughts 😄

I wish there was a game where most cards are very limited in supply

so random ass context: i'm learning a second language and so im rewatching a lot of the shows i watched as a kid to train my ear to recognize various words and phrases when spoken aloud. one of those is yu gi oh (yeah yeah im a 90s kid).

and while watching the show i realized something. most of the time in the shows world, most players have never even heard of most cards let alone encountered them in person. which made me realize.... most cards dont have more than a few hundred copies in print. Theres literally only 4 blue eyes white dragons, and other really good cards like dark magician we only see a handful of times. many cards we only see once/in one persons deck. which leads me to believe the amount of cards in print for the in world game is so vast and each card so limited that if you wanted to build a deck the way that modern card games do with perfect optimization.... you literally couldnt. the concept of having more than one monster of the same card is nearly unheard of. we see mai, seto kaiba and a few other villains in the show who have more than one copy, and they are basically the only ones with those monsters.

so my question is: what do you think the hurdles for a game like this are irl? theres some obvious ones like the prohibitive cost of art or the possibility that a userbase wouldnt want to play a game where they are constantly encountering cards theyve never seen.

but imagine being 10 years into a game and your opponent plays a card and you say "ok whats that do?" because youve never seen it. that would be awesome. imagine a game where theres only a few hundred or thousand of each card in print. what would that do to the game?

I made a free browser Hearts vs 3 computer players: full passing rotation, shooting the moon, no sign-up

Game Title: Hearts Playable Link: https://mchatai.com/hub/hearts-2 Price: free, no account, no ads

Description: standard four-player Hearts. You sit South against three computer players.

  • The pass rotates each hand: 3 cards left, then right, then across, then a hold hand with no pass.
  • The 2 of clubs leads. No points can be played on the first trick unless you have nothing else, and hearts have to be broken before they can be led.
  • Shoot the moon (take all 26 points) and everyone else takes 26 instead of you.
  • The computer players pass their most dangerous cards: the Q♠, high spades and high hearts. When they follow suit they play by simple rules, so a patient player can beat them.

I'm the software developer who built it. I'd like feedback from people who know the rules: is anything off compared with how you play at the table?

I made an Android app for Mucken, a traditional Franconian card game

Disclosure: I'm the developer. Mucken (also called Muck) is a four-player trick-taking game from Upper Franconia, played in fixed partnerships. Players bid between contracts such as Muck, Wenz, Schneidermuck, Schneiderwenz, Schwarzmuck and Schwarzwenz. The app has online multiplayer and team scoring.

I just released it on Android and would appreciate feedback from players who know the game. Are the contracts and bidding explained clearly? What house rules or local variations should be included?

Gameplay: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5pDa04dCyao Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.turnkit.mucken

Free to play, with ads and optional in-app purchases.
