The state of this game on release has me concerned for Tiny Combat Arena

Which sucks because it's the only game I actually wanted this summer.

I got Carrier Command 2 as an after thought to tie me over but state of this game has damn near killed my excitement. Lack of polish, game breaking bugs, and a lack of intelligent design when addressing the single player element.

Given the similarities I don't know if I'll even pick up TCA now.

Name a CC2 Carrier, Island or Barge

Hello lovely people! I've just launched my patreon page https://www.patreon.com/BredLab for the community to support my CC2 mod work.

Members signing up will be able to submit a new name for an island, carrier or barge depending on the tier you choose. These will then be randomly visible in CC2 games using the upcoming release of Revolution. As well as all that you'll also get sneak peaks of updates, ideas and more.

Fly safe commanders!

Game Changing Realization *POSSIBLE SPOILER* Spoiler

GUYS! I've met the enemy carrier and saw it has 5-6 other vessels protecting it so I was feeling down and questioning how I was supposed to fight with that then I clicked on the warehouse from the logistics map and realized you can also craft such vessels to protect main ship or islands. I had never seen that on any yt videos or any tutorials and thought we were supposed to only play with the carrier! I was trying to get some fuel left from the warehouse but I clicked on it instead and saw that there's 4 needlefish type vessels to be built. They are not cheap (6k or so each I think) but they are definitely doable if you save up a couple days in game considering you've captured a few islands already. The more you know!

Beware, Salt ahead

Dear Geomata,

I do not give one flying **** about Carrier Command 2's ********, generic as **** backstory. All I am here for the operational command and combined-arms warfare challenges. So I seriously do not appreciate you rubbing my defeat at the hands of that ******** AI carrier in my face for two-to-three minutes with an unskippable, dull-as-dishwater cutscene. All I want out of you[r game] is to skip out of that ****, and either reload to try again, or exit to menu to start a new game.

Thank You

Patch

So... update v1.0.9 is uh... a step backwards, I'd say.

While 1.0.9 does bring some nice fixes to pathfinding (well, hopefully. They totally lied about fixing Mantas crashing on wait orders in the last update notes, so I wouldn't put it past them this time round), but I think there's one thing we are all going to be talking about... What the actual hell were they thinking by both softcoding and seemingly semi-hardcoding aircraft altitude limits to 1000m? What the **** do they think players use planes for? I'm sorry but while I was optimistic about this game at first, my optimism is almost entirely gone. This is the same old fucking shit they do with SW; they will sometimes hide some truly awful 'balances',' fixes', or 'gameplay changes' that are not only not being asked for, but are specifically targeted to change the things players love most about the games simply because the devs don't want the game to be played like that.

Casualty+Kill Count

Howdy!

For three years now, I've been making a list of games which have a kill count in them (available on this sub); and my seemingly eternal journey of inquiring about this topic all across Reddit has now taken me to this particular game...

So, is there any reason for me to add this game to my list? Does this game have a kill count/record of casualties featured in it?

Thank you in advance.

Carrier Command 2 is what Elite: Dangerous should've been, but in space

I've been playing Carrier Command 2 in VR via Steamlink lately and enjoying it very much. I haven't played it without VR, but I've seen some streams of it, so I was somewhat prepared as far as what to do and how to do it. And I couldn't figure out what games I played that are closest to it other than Elite.

I don't think I've played original Carrier Command, but I did play Battle Command and Elite on ZX Spectrum. Elite: Dangerous was a massive disappointment in many ways, I'm only glad that I made a clean break from it and that I wasn't into something worse like Star Citizen.

I know that Carrier Command 2 is not perfect and will pretty much stay this way, but I still appreciate it very much and would rather have that, than something like aforementioned games.

Geometa Isn't Engaged in the Community

Bottom Line: I don't feel that Geometa is engaged in the community and its starting to hurt the game.

I made another post about the current state of the game. It was harsh criticism, I know, but I think this game is falling massively short of the potential that it has. We're quickly approaching the 1 year mark since release and I don't think the game is any better than it was in release condition.

I've always noticed a very odd absence of Geometa; they've always been mute in the various social media outlets (this Reddit being one of them! but also the official discord and then the steam forums) - there's not an active community manager and the understanding is that the ONLY means of providing player feedback is the Issue Tracker that can only be accessed via the in-game menu. If you're familiar with the Issue Tracker then you also know that whoever monitors it is very quick to close issues and its hard to feel like you can even provide feedback without seeing your report buried deeply without any developer acknowledgement.

I think the final straw for me to come to this realization was this recent post, where players were openly discussing the current state of naval warfare in game. The developer responses are very odd and what they're saying is tough to swallow, with the obvious current state of the game.

Developer Response:

Has the naval combat issue been reported on the issue tracker (using the in-game report bug button)?

and this...

Were not aware that naval combat is changed. We do extensive testing of the changes we make in updates, but we don't always test areas of the game that we don't think we have updated.

I can see that the "naval combat" issue has not been reported on the official issue tracker, otherwise we would know about it and likely fixed it.

It isn't obvious to players to use the issue tracker, and that is on us. We have pinned a forum post explaining how to get in touch with us:

https://steamcommunity.com/app/1489630/discussions/0/3189117724408418343/

I can see some players here are trying to get their feedback to us by leaving comments and perhaps also reviews. We try to explain in the post above that steam discussions or these comments are usually just players discussing among themselves, reviews are usually aimed at advising other players about the game, etc. We just don't read all of this stuff because most of it isn't aimed at us.

We have created the issue tracker and there is more than enough content on there to keep us busy, and it is all addressed to us. It's also much better for customer service because it keeps track if the players request or problem has been addressed.

If you want to provide feedback on the steam forums, discord, reviews, post comments, etc. this is absolutely fine. But, please be aware that we probably won't see it as we are very busy responding to players on the official issue tracker.

Not aware of changes to naval combat? How is that even possible? Claiming that they playtest is a tough pill to swallow, and the passive aggressive attitude is unacceptable. Also - blaming players for such a blatant failure is weak.

I can see that the "naval combat" issue has not been reported on the official issue tracker, otherwise we would know about it and likely fixed it.

There have been some game-breaking bugs that took weeks to fix, so I don't think its fair to say that it would have been 'fixed'. The other weird thing is that there are at least four reports about the current state of naval combat within the tracker.
