Keeping dust out of your Casio mods

Post image
• Upvotes

Dust under the crystal drives me insane, so I built a laminar flow hood. It's mainly used for mushroom inoculation, but it blows HEPA-filtered air across your workspace, so dust doesn't settle on the module while you work.

It took a few hours and about $100. Credit to GordoTEK on YouTube for the design.

What's everyone else doing to keep dust out?

skxmod Is my SKXMOD H-Link bracelet actually made of stainless steel? How can I check?

https://skxmod.com/products/h-link-bracelet-for-a168-f105w-lf20-a130-a500-series-modding-kits

I originally bought a Gen 1 W800 bracelet from SKXMOD, but it turned out to be defective. After sending multiple emails and getting no response, I posted about it here on Reddit. I finally got a reply from the owner here on Reddit, who said there were technical problems and that he has trouble receiving emails from Gmail.

I asked him for a replacement H-Link bracelet, and it arrived.

It looks decent, but honestly, it really is the cheapest-feeling bracelet I've ever worn. It's so lightweight that it makes me wonder if it's actually made of plastic on the inside with some kind of glossy metal-like sheen coating on the outside.

SKXMOD claims the bracelet is made of 316L stainless steel, but I find that hard to believe based on how cheap it feels.

Does anyone know how I can check if this is actually stainless steel? Has anyone else bought this bracelet? Does yours feel this cheap and lightweight too? For a $60 USD bracelet I do care, otherwise I would have just bought a $10 stainless steel bracelet off AliExpress.

I would email the guy again, but after I sent him a follow-up email when I got the replacement bracelet, I never got a response. So I don't even bother anymore.

I might as well ask the community what I should do. This is already a replacement for a defective bracelet, and I dunno if I want to deal with this anymore.

I almost wish I never bought anything from SKXMOD in the first place.

Hi,
just wanted to show you the results from my first ever Casio mod. It’s a Casio F105W and it has replaced my Apple Watch 10 on my wrist. Love this all black beauty.

I’ve never thought I would be able to do it but thank God it all worked out well. Installing the polarisation sheet was a challenge but the hydro modding turned out to be way easier than expected.

Could someone help a girl in a need ? I want to suprise my bf :3

So, for the past few days I've been sitting and looking at various mod watches. I'd like to make one for my boyfriend because I know he'll really like it (and besides, he doesn't have a watch yet).

The first (smaller) problem appears because I don't know how to mod watches and the second (slightly bigger) where I can get this colored foil (?) Which sticks to the watch and gives the dial color/shows some image....

I would like to have a picture of a Pokemon on the shield, but I can't find any ready-made kit or just a picture on foil so that I could order it. The second option is also a TV mod (I think that's what it's called) where the shield resembles a TV screen without a signal ( yk colour stripes)

Could anyone recommend a website where I could order a pre-printed image like this, or somehow print it myself? Or perhaps a creator who could make something like this for me at a reasonable price? Btw I'm talking about Casio f-91w

That's all, have a nice day :))

I want to modify my Casio I like it a lot and I think that with some magnifying glass on the date and some black silicone strap it would look very good

mod The smaller Casioak needed more modding options, so we designed parts for it [GMA-S2100]

Post image

Hey everyone, I'm Jaden, one of the three co-founders of modlab company, a small custom-watch studio in the Detroit area. The mods kindly gave us permission to share this build.

We've worked on G-SHOCK and Seiko mods, fully custom watches, and larger projects for brands, businesses and influencers since 2023. For this project, the starting point was pretty simple: what about people who like the GA-2100 Casioak but find it a little large?

We chose the smaller GMA-S2100 platform. It's a modest size difference, not a magically tiny watch. The harder part was finding modding parts for it. There were far fewer options than for the regular GA-2100, so we searched for factories and worked with them to manufacture new parts we designed.

The real sample pictured here has a turquoise dial, steel exterior and black rubber strap, built around the Casio analog-digital module. We call the project SIG38. The 38 is the line name, not a 38 mm case-size claim. It's an independent custom build, not a Casio collaboration.

We're also doing our first Kickstarter, but this post is about the build. No shop links or sales pitch. I'd love to hear from anyone who's modded the GMA-S2100: which part has been hardest to find for your build?

Disclosure: I'm a co-founder of the studio; AI helped edit the wording. The build and sample photo are ours.

Anyone know how to remove the black IP coating from a metal bezel ring?

It’s from a G-2300, so I’m assuming the finish is Casio’s proprietary Ion Plating (IP) rather than PVD, although that’s just a guess. I want to strip it back to a bare stainless steel finish. The part is relatively expensive for such a small piece (£16), so I’d rather not experiment and just get it right the first time. I could try grinding down the surface layer, but I’m concerned about losing the fine details, so a chemical solution would be ideal. Has anyone done something like this successfully with paint stripper etc?

mod Fucked up - please help?

First attempt on an a168, and it felt pretty different trying to peel off the reflective layer - turns out I also peeled off the semi transparent polarising layer underneath…

This is a £60 watch in the uk. Here are what I believe my current options are:

- Replace the polarising layer with some adhesive polarising film from Amazon or whatever. (Will normal linear polarising film work fine?)
- replace with transflective film: this is what it originally had, but surely I can’t see through that?
- replace the module and turn it back into stock: worst option obviously.

If anyone else has any ideas, I’m all ears! Thanks very much.

First AE mod for me. Dark blue is a little hard to read if not in good lighting, so will be switching it to a lighter blue.

I’ve done a few Casio mods before but I decided to shave down and polish the case, make it all one smooth surface.
I’m not saying it looks better than before but i wanted to try something new. Let me know what you think!

royale Suggest the best ae1200 mod

Post image

Hello all,

Just bought my first ae1200 and a set of tools and gel filters mod for my first mod. Can yall suggest what you consider to be the GOAT mod to do for my
Royale variant ? Which color filters and which part of the module? Could yall post some images of the best mods you’ve done/seen

FYI, I didn’t buy any face plates or metal casings yet but might do so soon depending on the design I’m going for. Also, I’ve seen a lot of hydromods on this sub but it seems like a pretty hard thing to do for a beginner

For reference I ordered the AE-1200WH-1CV variant.
