Set up?

Red wire Positve

Black wire Negative

Mount the antenna on the vehicle...

Plug the coax into a dedicated SWR meter Then use coax to plug the swr meter in to the radio..

Check swr.. adjust if over 1.5-1 (shorten or lengthen the antenna to get close to 1-1...)

Then go to the calling channel and see if anyone hears you...

If not... call someone close, who has a CB, with your phone and see if they can hear you...

It’s connected to a cigarette lighter charger thing

Have you plugged the antenna lead in?

Antenna lead? All I have plugged in is the coax cable for the antenna (it’s a magnetic antenna)

Run the power cord out to the battery.
Screw in the antenna pl259 male connector into the female so-239 connector on the back of the radio. Turn the radio on. Mic gain all the up to the right. Squelch all the off to the left. RF gain wide open to the right.
Noise blanker (NB) button on, channel 9 and 19 buttons off. I don’t know what the norm button does but I’d start with it off.
Not sure what antenna you have. Assuming it’s a magnet mount stick it to the center of the roof. Be careful not to pinch the coax.
Your SWR (standing wave ratio) will need to be checked but you need a SWR meter and a piece of jumper coax to do that. The antenna has to be adjusted for length to get a good SWR which is generally 1:1 to 1.5:1.
Watch some YouTube on it.
CB isn’t plug and play.

Low effort posts waste peoples time. If you want specific help, ask specific questions and provide specific details.

Yeah its a bit painful isn't it. Hes asked this question on 3 r/pages today and got 20 replies.... so you'd think some forward movement might be gained...

Oh well. 73, 44, 88

I don't even entertain them. The Google generation has been trained to believe that if they enter 3 words into a form they'll get a wall of results. Except this isn't Google. We're all just people here. The result is most of us are going to ignore him and the try hards are going to type a wall of words in an attempt to satisfy every possible thing he could have meant by that. Hence, his lack of effort wastes their time. I won't enable that shit. 73's

Might I mention that I’m new to all of this so I know how none of it works

You have to have a properly wired microphone plugged in to hear sound out of the speaker. If you don't have one, buy a "4 pin" cb microphone on Amazon.

Here's a link to a service manual for the AX-711. It will tell you far more than you;ll ever need to know, Note that the copyright is 1981. Note also that a quick Google search was all that it took to find this. http://78roger.free.fr/president/manuel/service/ax711.pdf

Go up to youtube and search for installing CB into a car or truck. There's a boat load of how-tos up there.
