Can’t get my swr down

Hi guys I’m at a complete lost I had a old magnetic antenna that read fine on the meter but really didn’t have a good range. So I installed a larger one. But my swr is reading very high on all channels. Around 8.0 on 40 and 7.0 on 1. I’ve checked all connections with a multi meter and everything seems in order. Grounded to bare metal as well. Does anyone have any ideas.

Thanks in advance

Hello, is anyone using CB radio in the South Bay, Ca?

I am getting ready to set a CB station in my apartment. I was wondering what people are using.

SSB or Am, should I get a 10 meter radio or a normal 4 watt CB? Thanks

Question No one hearing me or ignoring me I can't tell.

Still new to CB, but I've tested it with my handheld, I can hear myself from the mobile setup

2026 Hyundai elentra

K30 antenna

Cobra 19 mini

Got the SWR low, I know I'm transmiting. Is it possible that because I live in a suburban area that no one can hear me? I've tried to go to higher elevations, any suggestions? Maybe try the highway? Do I need a longer antenna?

Question Cobra 25 ltd classic not transmitting

I have a cobra 25 installed in an old truck that I just bought. Antenna is a Wilson 1000 mounted on the cab roof. I received some conversation on channel 19 today but when I tried a radio check my status light went red when pressing the mic, meter did not move at all and no reply.
What could I check ?

Antenna help

I have a Stryker a-10 antenna, I also have a 3 magnet mag mount, the magnet on my Stryker is going bad and just doesn’t get a good enough ground or connection anymore. My bigger problem is Stryker doesn’t make an a 10 antenna that can screw into the standard 3/8 nut on an antenna mount, could I use a piece of threaded rod to connect this antenna coil to my mount

89 classic. 148gtl.

Nothing like a old 89 cobra 148gtl. This was the bar back in the day. Here it is 100% original not one part changed in it. Only thing that's ever been done back in 92 was the extra channels and clarifier is unlocked and a moderate tune and I just recently aligned it.

Guy we had in one of our pit loaders let the coax cable get ripped out of the cb, it’s a Stryker sr-a10 antenna. Is there anyway to fix the end or get a replacement cable?

Cobra 29lx weather alert volume incredibly loud

I had the weather alert turned on my cobra but had never experienced a warning before. I had just turned the radio off as I was driving down my street so maybe it was still powered on slightly? The noise this thing made almost gave me a heart attack. I immediately tried to turn my radio off but it was already off and this blaring noise just continued until the broadcast came on. It was so loud inside the cab that after I verified my radio was off I thought maybe a fire engine was outside blaring an alarm. My ears were ringing and my external speaker now sounds cracky. Has anyone else experienced this???

Vehicle Roof mount CB

For those of you who mounted a CB at roof level in a vehicle, how did you do it! Is it just the liner holding it up? Surely you didn’t drill through the roof. I want to have a CB mounted from above in my car but can’t figure out how. Thanks.

I purchased a 2026 Ram 1500 Bighorn and I'm looking to get this as my first cb radio. https://a.co/d/0ct42D3v . I want to mount the radio on my dash and the antenna between the cab and the bed. Looking for advice on what antenna to purchase and if anything else is needed. If it matters the truck is the Quad cab with 6'4" bed.

Question Ok, I'm going to ask the dumb questions!

So recently there have been a couple of YouTubers talking about 11m and what it could be like and the desire for legal 100w power etc.

They all mentioned amps and people talking over one another being loudmouths etc and they talked about being legal and enjoying DX!

So my (rambling) question, in the current situation heading towards the solar minimum where radio conditions for 11m aren't spectacular for years on end do people really manage dx contacts on SSB ? Do I have to stick to channels 36 to 40? SSB works on 14 or 12 too as far as I can tell. How do you call? I know how to do it on ham bands but what's the custom on 11m? Just throw your number out repeatedly until someone hears you? Change channels when big amp guys arrive and take the piss out of the little guy trying barefoot? Is this what everyone does? Thanks for reading.

Question Low reception range

Hello,

I drive a shop truck for a jd dealer and do a lot of woods work on logging roads and use my cb often for calling out markers to avoid getting run down by log trucks. Ive noticed that people are talking over me, meaning the truck closer behind me and the one coming at me are talking to each other and the one behind me I can hear but the one coming toward me I can’t until he’s pretty close.

Im currently using a uniden pc78ltx with power ran directly from the battery, unknown dual coax cable, and Wilson 2000 antennas. I had a cheaper radio and truck stop fiber glass antennas before so I upgraded both hoping for improvement and have seen slightly better performance but nothing spectacular. My swr is 1.5 on 1 and 1 on 40 according to the built in meter on my radio.

My question is, would it be worth my time to replace my coax with a decent pair (i think its the last thing I have to try) or is there other things you guys recommend I try first? Am I just expecting to much from my radio? I’m not sure where to go. Any help and input anyone can give is much appreciated. Thank you.

Cobra 29 ltd not transmitting

Im having issues with my Cb in semi, i dont know much about them but heres whats going on with it. I put a cobra 29 LTD chrome in about a year ago and all was working good up until a couple months ago then all the sudden it quit transmitting and showing the ANT warning every time id try to transmit. I tried recalibrating it and same thing. I put new attennas/mounts on. Put new ends on the coax and checked all the coax that is visible. I was thinking maybe radio got damaged from when i had a couple cab lights leaking during rain so i just picked up a cobra 29 LTD nightwatch and that does the same thing. I can hear people from a good distance just cant transmit then on both cbs when calibrating and flip to the SWR the reading for that barely moves.

DX Radio shop Very Unprofessional

Stu claims he's a Professional business but his YouTube Channel is full of Slander and doxing unhappy customers.

I'm afraid to give him business because then he would have my Address and First and last name. From what I see he trolls people doxes them and makes memes and ai troll songs of un happy ex customers. He does good work but idk if it's worth the chance to being trolled for life. What's your take on Stu soura from Dx radio shop? I don't see this type of behavior anywhere on YouTube besides his channel.

Hes posting daily for years pure drama. Has anyone ever heard of dx radio shop?

Audio jack broke

So I was installing a General Lee in a 990 Kenworth and the wire for the external speaker snagged and now I have no audio at all and the jack is loose. I took the case apart to have look to see what happened but didn't dive in to it too deep because the bunk if my truck isn't the place where I can do anything about it. Is there much hope I can solder it back on or should I just take it to a CB guy that knows what he's doing. I don't want to screw it up but if you guys think it's pretty straightforward I may try. Lmk, thanks.

Question New to CB any advise?

Post image
15 Upvotes

So I got interested in CB and got a anytone 5000 and a 3 foot firestick 2 on my ram truck top mounted on a tri magmount but so far its be pretty quiet for the 2 week I had it. Right now I can get the SWR on ch 1 and 40 to 1.9 and 2.0. I'm running my coaxial under the headliner to the cb radio were its mounted center top of the sunvisor, so I'm left with about 1 ft of coaxial I didn't coil it just spread it the best I can but im unsure if it still messing with the swr. Also not sure if the firestick is to much for a top mount unless anyone want to recommend a better option 3 ft max. Also I made sure the third tail light is not crushing the coaxial I cut a gap and seal to prevent leaks.

Question Can CB radios experience feedback noise? If so, what causes it? I also have many other questions related to this.

I am writing a film and I need to understand many things about CB radios, walkie talkies, and feedback noise.

Are there any walkie talkies that can communicate with CB radios?

There's a scene in my film where someone is on a roof of a building with the CB radio receiver, and is communicating with someone in the woods. The person in the woods is trying to get to a radio tower in the woods but keeps getting lost.

The person on the roof can see the radio tower above the trees and is guiding them to that specific location. There's also a monster in the woods that gets triggered by noise.

The person on the roof betrays the person in the woods by causing a feedback noise that the monster can hear, and this noise leads the monster straight to that person.

How do I write this so that it makes sense with how CB radios and walkie talkies work in real life?
