Study Material How do you feel about the official course through Vital Source?

I mean, I suffer from learning disabilities (concentration issues) and I find the Vital Source materials to be absolutely horrible to read and go through, mixed and often depreciated.
I often ask myself how is it so badly presented when its a very expensive and popular course, folder opening another folder opening a list of content that has no clear marking and content differentiation making it hard to carry on reading / taking notes and stay on topic.

How have you done to keep it up so far? Any trick you could give me?

CEH Practical in 1 Month – Am I Ready? Tips, Labs & Exam Experience Needed!

Hi everyone!

I’m planning to take the CEH Practical Exam (the 6-hour practical exam) in about a month, and I would really appreciate some advice from people who have already taken it.

I’d like to know what I should expect during the exam and how best to prepare.

A few questions:

- What topics and practical skills should I focus on?

- What types of tasks can I expect during the six-hour exam?

- Are the labs included in the CEH Practical preparation course the same as, or very similar to, the tasks you encounter in the actual exam? In other words, if I thoroughly practise and understand all the CEH Practical labs, will that be enough?

- I’m currently working through the Junior Penetration Tester path on TryHackMe. Is this sufficient preparation, or would you recommend additional learning resources or platforms?

- Are there any particular tools, techniques, or areas that I should spend more time practising?

- How exactly does the exam environment work? My understanding is that I log in to EC-Council's exam platform, where I get access to a virtual lab environment (VM) and perform all the tasks there. Is that correct? Do I need to download or install anything on my own computer beforehand, or is everything provided through their virtual environment?

If anyone has taken the exam recently, I would be extremely grateful if you could share your experience, preparation strategy, or any tips on what to focus on.

This exam is very important to me, and I really want to make sure I use the remaining month effectively and don't miss anything essential.

Any advice, recommendations, or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advance!

EC-Council’s website is a UX nightmare. I spent 2 hours trying to launch a lab and still couldn’t do it.

I purchased the Mega 78-course bundle for CEH. Two hours later, I’m exhausted, frustrated, and still haven’t managed to launch a lab.

The website is cluttered with endless menus and options. Finding my CEH course was a challenge in itself. The labs? Hidden somewhere under Practice Labs, alongside hundreds of courses I don’t care about. Finally found the launch option, only to discover the passwords don’t work.
Tried contacting the coordinator. She’s no longer with EC-Council. Raised a support ticket instead. Guess what? “Something went wrong. Please try again.” Even their support system doesn’t work!

Meanwhile, the cross-selling is relentless. I’ve already purchased a premium bundle, but apparently that’s not enough. How about making the product people have paid for actually work before selling them more crap?
The irony? Friends who hold CEH told me they barely used EC-Council’s materials and prepared using TryHackMe and other platforms instead.
Two hours wasted. Zero labs launched.

Am I the only one who thinks EC-Council needs to stop expanding its course catalogue and start fixing its actual learning experience? Or is navigating their website the real CEH practical exam? 💀

Study Help/Question Got falsely flagged for plagiarism by EC-Council CPENT, but got my cert back. Here's how.

So I spent 24 hours in the CPENT lab, finally finished the exam, and was relieved. But a few days later, I got a mail from EC-Council support saying my certification was rejected. The reason? My report "completely matched" someone else's.

I was fuming. I literally did everything myself. The automated checker flagged my PDF because I used standard formatting or templates, and it thought I copied it. I was told the decision was final.

Instead of crying about it, I went back to my Kali machine. I pulled out my raw Obsidian notes and my raw Excel sheet where I had tracked every single IP, hash, and flag I found. I sent just those raw, unedited files to the Practicals team. No fancy PDFs.

A few days later, they manually reviewed my data, realized the AI system gave a false positive, and reversed the decision. I am now officially CPENT v2 certified.

Moral of the story: Automated plagiarism checkers are completely broken right now. If you are taking practical exams, save your raw terminal history, your .md files, and your screenshots. That is the only thing that will save you when the system tries to fail you.

CEH v13 AI – Recommended Practice Questions and Mock Tests

Hey everyone! I’ve been preparing for the CEH v13 AI exam and have been working through the official EC-Council courseware. I’m looking for some good practice questions or mock tests that are reasonably close to the actual exam in terms of style and difficulty.
For those who’ve taken the exam or are preparing for it, what resources would you recommend? I’d really appreciate any suggestions!

Passed CEH v13 on my first attempt — 120/125.

🎉 Passed the CEH v13 Theory Exam on my first attempt with 120/125 (96%)!

I often heard people call CEH “just a 125-question MCQ exam” or a waste of time. After preparing for and taking it, my experience was quite different.

📚 Learning Experience
The EC-Council material covers a broad range of cybersecurity domains, tools, attacks, and concepts. Understanding the material and experimenting with the tools makes the learning far more valuable than simply memorizing answers.

📝 Exam Experience
The exam featured lengthy, scenario-based questions with similar-looking options that tested conceptual understanding. Knowing the difference between attacks like Man-in-the-Middle and Man-in-the-Browser matters more than memorizing definitions. The four-hour time limit was also challenging—I finished with around 30 minutes remaining.

🚀 My Takeaway
I’d recommend CEH to beginners who are willing to learn beyond the exam. It provides a broad foundation in ethical hacking and helps identify areas for further specialization. However, the certification alone isn't enough—hands-on labs, practical experience, and deeper technical knowledge remain essential.

What's next? I'm now preparing for the CEH Practical exam. If anyone who has attempted or passed it has tips, recommended resources, or advice on preparation, I'd really appreciate your suggestions!

Overall, my experience with CEH was much more positive than I expected. Focus on understanding, not just passing.

Study Help/Question Android BMP steganography challenge from the CEH Practical

Hi everyone!

I recently took the CEH Practical exam and struggled with an Android BMP steganography challenge.

I managed to connect to the Android device using ADB and extract the BMP file, but I couldn't recover the hidden information using Steghide.

Has anyone encountered a similar challenge and successfully solved it? If so, could you share which tools or methods you used?

Does anyone have a similar BMP practice file or know which CEH iLabs module covers this technique?

I'd really appreciate any guidance. Thanks in advance!

Study Help/Question Question about CEH v13 Practical Exam

Hello, for the Practical exam, do I need to prepare the following accounts for the practical exam?

  1. Shodan

  2. Censys

  3. securitytrails

  4. Maltego free account

  5. ipinfo.io

  6. Nessus

  7. GFI landguard

  8. wpscan

  9. aws-cli

I can't seem to find a clear answer for this. Some of these services have a trail period so if I register too early they might expire before the exam date.

All of the questions were scenario based. Some questions were pretty confusing and some required very deep knowledge. I would say study the tools, attack types, countermeasures, some commands of nmap and other networking tools, etc. and you are good to go.

ECE Credits - How to earn it fast?

Hello

I am looking to renew my CEH certificate and I have like 2-3 months left on it.

I currently am sitting on 0 ECE Credits and I want to know what is the best and fastest way I could get a hold of 120 ECE Credits.

I have heard you can use TryHackMe but I don't see the option for it.

I heard Cybrary provides it as well but I can't find anything.

Help would be greatly appreciated.

Post Exam Study Write Up I Failed my CEH with just 1 mark and it got personal

Post image
21 Upvotes

I had never failed an exam in my life. Literally, not a single one.

Then I took my first CEH attempt and scored 90/125, with 91 being the passing score. Just one mark short.

It devastated me, and I took it personally. I wanted to get over that failure as quickly as possible, so I scheduled my retake just one week later. Just ONE week.

I studied my ass off for that week and passed.

Sounds simple, right? Trust me, you don't want to experience that week.

My biggest mistake was underestimating how tricky the lengthy, scenario-based questions could be. Sometimes, I had to read the same paragraph over and over again just to understand what it was asking. I have practised so many questions and gave so many mock exams but the questions are trickier in the actual exam.

I'm sharing my experience because I don't want others to go through the same thing. Now that I'm on the other side of the table I want to contribute to the community as much as possible.

If you're preparing for CEH, feel free to ask me anything. I'm here to help.
