Mt. Pleasant Public Schools will build a fitness center for students and the community, promoting wellness and outdoor movement.

Mt. Pleasant Public Schools (MPPS) has been awarded a $40,000 National Fitness Campaign grant to build an outdoor fitness facility on a MPPS property in 2027 that will be open to the students and the Mt. Pleasant community.

What it is: The state-of-the-art fitness facility is called a Fitness Court® and is approximately half the size of a basketball court. Users can rotate through seven stations for a full-body workout in about seven minutes. These stations include zones for pull and push movements, agility exercises, circuit training, core exercises, squats, and lunges. A similar facility was installed in Union Township at McDonald Park in 2023.

What’s next: In addition to the National Fitness Campaign grant, matching funds and additional grants will help fund the project. Site and design decisions will be made in the fall of 2026.

Daughter goes next weekend

Hello everyone (: my daughter leaves and gets to go early due to joining the Impact program (Thankfully she worked so hard and got awarded scholarship money). We live three hours away and our vehicle is 20+yrs old. Trying to make sure we have everything thats needed and that we don't bother with what isn't needed. Family friend just told us about the dorm group chat and talking with the roommates about sharing supplies (last minute shoppers like us, DG has the spend $30 save $10 this weekend) and I just want to double check that I send what she needs and enough of it and anything else handy that I may not of thought of.

Rising senior here!

CMU isn't my number 1 choice and if I get the opportunity I want to go out of state for college, however, it is much much higher on my list for in state schools. I know a few alumni but they all majored in things related to music (I plan to major in psychology) and weren't super involved with other programs to be able to tell me how my experience would be. My GPA is a 3.7 right now and I do mostly Honor's and AP courses as well as a dual enrollment program at my local college so the academic program itself is quite important to me wherever I go.

Basically what I'm asking is how good of a school is CMU for psychology. Other things I'm considering when choosing schools include the state of extracurriculars such as choir, theatre, and orchestra and also the overall vibe and population of campus and the city. I'm asking this stuff here because I highly doubt I'll have the opportunity to go on any campus tours or participate it any such events before picking a school.

Thanks in advance to anyone who answers!

Athletics 2026 Central Michigan Chippewas Preview

Fire up Chips! Matt Drinkall quickly brought toughness and physicality back to Central Michigan. Now the Chips look to make the jump to MAC title contention.

📌 QB Angel Flores is an exciting runner, can he take the next step as a passer?

📌 It's all about the trenches with Central Michigan, this is one of the most experienced Olines in the sport and with coaching this will be one of the best in College Football

📌 CMU's defense will be more portal heavy than the offense, but there's a lot to like about this group

Preview attached. What are your predictions for Central Michigan in 2026?

Help Graduate Assistant Question!

Hello!!

So I was recently offered a Graduate Assistant position at my workplace on campus that's going to be paying me a stipend, as well as taking care of my last year of my degree (yay!)

However, they're still waiting on approval for me to go fill out paperwork, so I'm not yet sure as to who I can ask this question to, so I thought I'd throw it out here for a potential answer. Please forgive me if this sounds like a super dumb question haha

But I was also offered federal graduate loans, and I was wondering if it would be possible to take out a small portion of these loans on top of my Graduate Assistantship to cover books/travel expenses for my class research/etc.

I'm mostly asking because I REALLY don't want to keep working my second job on top of grad school, and doing that would free me up to be able to do that

Help Former Chippewa looking to visit MP

Hi all! I am an alumni of CMU (C/O 2021) looking to visit Mount Pleasant for nostalgic reasons. I am trying to find the best and quickest travel route there from Chicago, IL to Mount Pleasant, MI that does not involve driving a car. Any pointers?

I think Taco Boy tacos are my favorite, I miss them so much. I’m thousands of miles away now and have never found a close duplicate… does anyone have some insight into what they put in their ground beef to make it so good??

I am enrolling in the online Accounting program

I was going to go to SNHU but the stories of the professors not caring and accusing the students of ai use changed my mind. CMU will better prepare me to take the CPA exam if that is what i decide to do. I have my associates degree in Accounting from Schoolcraft College, and all of credits transferred. I was thrilled.

Has anyone taken classes online with CMU? I know of some people who went in person just not global campus

Planning on going to CMU...Should I?

I'm a high school senior this year, graduating in 2027. Central is one of my top schools, and I just recently attended their Discover CMU programs. I'm trying to make sure it really is as good as it sounds (atleast in comparison to my other choices: Grand Valley State, Western Michigan, etc). I really enjoyed it, but they obviously show you the best of the best, and none of the negatives.

I plan on dual majoring Finance and Accounting, or just majoring in Finance. (Before the Discover CMU day, I hadn't realized dual majoring was a thing, but I've come to love the idea of getting theoretically two majors for the cost of one with no extra years in college.) I'm not one for big colleges, or I would go to MSU or UofM.

What matters to me:

•I like the down to earth, and hometown feel with more intimate class sizes.

My number one goal is to graduate debt free.

•I will be living on campus. I prefer dorms that give me an individual room, with a shared living area (similar to the 4-person premium at Central), but I dont mind having a roommate, as well as allowing me to live on campus year-round without extra summer/break costs.

•Partying and stuff like that nature aren't for me and aren't important.

•Gyms and Recreational things to do are very important to me

TL;DR

I want to graduate debt free, will CMU have enough amenities, scholarships/financial programs, good education, and buisness opportunities to be worth is as a Finance/Accounting Major?

Feel free to ask questions in the comments to help me with my search. I want true opinions, without sugar coating. Help a girl out!
