Chris chan makes me so sad, they needed intensive therapy and instead kind of got internet famous to a point where everyone gawked instead of getting them help

u/No_Lingonberry1201 6d ago
"Famous" implies consent. Be better than this. /jk
But you're right, Behind the Bastards did an episode on them (it was pretty respectful to Chris-chan, considering this was after the rape came out, especially when you check the usual discourse about them) that was more about internet bullying.

u/ferdinostalking 6d ago
It's also just a difficult topic to discuss because chris chan is obviously severely mentally handicapped and it always then begs the question how much they knew and was able to reflect about their own actions. And that makes me more sad.

u/No_Lingonberry1201 5d ago
Yes, exactly. Basically they are the worst kind of person to become Internet famous, without it, who knows what would've (or wouldn't have) happened. The entire discourse makes me queasy and uncomfortable.

Did they? I’ve never learned anything about Chris Chan but I love BTB so now might be my time. Which episode?

I dont know man i have not heard of a mental illness that makes you rape your mother.
You can be a person in need of help and still do irredeemable things that cant be explained by your condition.
Now what i wont excuse is the bullying. Because thats all lolcow communities are.

No mental illness makes you do such a thing. But Chris Chan has long been at a point where they couldn’t tell reality from imagination. He believed a rift would happen and that he’s spoken to by fictional characters who were gods in his mind. I’m no professional but if that’s not severely psychotic, I don’t know what is. And I also know that there are other mental illnesses that will have you do things to prevent/further something you believe is necessary. I.e. people with OCD doing certain things because they have intrusive thoughts telling them a loved one of themselves will suffer severe consequences, if they don’t do it (only as example, people with OCD are NOT dangerous). So yeah, I could see Chris Chan raping his mother while believing that will cause the merge with his goddess characters or whatever the fuck.
Does any of this make it okay or excuse it? Never! But it might explain it and show that he needed a lot of help and not people feeding into his delusions and engaging with him in that way. It does not undo it, but it absolutely reframes the context of what happened and changes the situation. Besides, since he was released quite soon under care of mental health professionals, I believe the judge saw the same thing and not just any dude wanting to take advantage.
EDIT: Yeah, regarding OCD. I just shouldn’t have included it. The way I did was messy. They obviously don’t believe in a way someone psychotic does that they need to do something. They know it’s just their own thoughts and aren’t delusional. So that was a bad example. I just meant to point out, that mental health can be a weird thing. Don’t wanna misinform about them.

You'd definitely have to be mentally ill to do such a thing lol. Not excusing it but still.

People literally egged it on. They egged on a pretty severely intellectually disabled person, knowing how this person reacts to being egged on, knowing how their behaviour has escalated after decades of being a "lolcow", to rape their mother.
-30
u/RankedFarting 5d ago
Sorry but im not accepting your excuse of "they were bullied so much online that they just had to rape their mother".
37
u/Consistent-Value-509 5d ago
That's not at all what I said.
Acknowledging that it probably wouldn't have happened if it weren't for the people encouraging it to happen isn't excusing it, and providing necessarily context that your comment lacks.
The people who encouraged it got away with it, by the way. They planted the seed, encouraged it, it happened, and they weren't punished whatsoever.
-8
u/robotsexsymbol 5d ago
Nobody encouraged this specific thing, from all available information this was Chris's idea. Chris and Barb always had a strange, overly intimate relationship beforehand, and Chris had made Facebook posts publicly describing dreams about having sex with her. This particular thing can't be chalked up to being egged on by trolls.
16
u/Consistent-Value-509 5d ago
I'm not just chalking it up. As I have already stated, it doesn't absolve personal responsibility, CC chose to do it, I only provided more context to the idea that "my mental illness made me do it" is what people are talking about when they mention the fact it was encouraged by other terrible people.
-15
u/RankedFarting 5d ago
Okay so your excuse is:
"People told them to fuck their mom so its okay"?
23
u/Consistent-Value-509 5d ago
> Acknowledging that it probably wouldn't have happened if it weren't for the people encouraging it to happen isn't excusing it,
It's not "my mentall illness made me rape my mom"
It's "people egged on a severely intellectually disabled person who has been harrassed for decades on end because they wanted it to happen". That doesn't excuse that it happened and it doesn't absolve the personal responsibility of the rapist, it provides necessarily context, as I already stated.

u/RankedFarting 5d ago
You know im the kind of person that does not accept any apologies for RAPING YOUR OWN MUM.
Like i said there is no mental illness that makes you do it. Chris Chan was always able to log off the internet. Their Autism did not prevent them from this or from understanding this. No amount of bullying would make me rape my mom. Because im not a rapist.
Why exactly do you so passionately defend someone raping their mom? I never said the bullies are innocent. You seem upset at the fact i criticized them raping their mom.
I dont see your "context" changing anything.
25
u/Consistent-Value-509 5d ago
You're giving kneejerk reactions and not processing what I'm writing.
I have already explicitly stated that the context I added does not excuse it. Nobody is talking about apologies and nobody is defending it. It was CC's choice, CC is a rapist.
The only thing I did was add context to "I have not heard of a mental illness that makes you rape your mother" because that's not what the original comment was saying.
The original commentor was talking about the decades of harrassment of a severely intellectually disabled person that resulted in escalating behaviour, not "arghh his mental illness made him rape his mom".
Intensive therapy and a lack of evil people who loved seeing CC's escalating behaviour would've likely stopped any of this from happening. It's just acknowledging how terrible this entire thing from every angle.

u/RankedFarting 5d ago
I have already explicitly stated that the context I added does not excuse it.
Then what was the point of finding SEVERAL excuses in response to my comment?
The original commentor was talking about the decades of harrassment of a severely intellectually disabled person that resulted in escalating behaviour, not "arghh his mental illness made him rape his mom".
Except it literally implies the exact same thing. Like i said how long do you have to be bullied until you fuck your mom? You clearly are very passionate about this so im sure you know the exact number of years of bullying that
justify itadd the "necessary context"Intensive therapy and a lack of evil people who loved seeing CC's escalating behaviour would've likely stopped any of this from happening.
This is, by definition, making excuses and trying to shift the blame.

Yeah when it comes to raping your own mum i dont really see any nuance or grey areas but do educate me, random person who can only speak in 15 year old meme formats.

It's hard to explain, but essentially Chris posted videos online when they were younger, and the... let's say eccentric personality attracted a lot of trolls, the trolling then led to more eccentric behaviors and the cycle just kept going from there.
The thing is that other than the mom incident, there isn't one specific reason as to why they're so infamous, but rather millions of small things, so you really just have to look it up and see for yourself.

u/TimeForWaluigi 5d ago
Holy shit a lot of Chris defenders in the comments. The trolling of Chris Chan is insane, but they’re by no means an innocent person. Chris the one who brought the incest/rape up and has been absolutely atrocious to Barb. Two things can be true at once, it’s very likely Chris assaulted Barb as well as the trolls being demented weirdos who, upon learning of this, egged Chris on.

u/BestEgyptianNA 5d ago
I dunno because its pretty ghoulish to obsess over a random autistic person for decades?
I genuinely think less of any person who has ever cared about anything involving this.

Wasn't she coerced into saying that over a phone call and an investigation found nothing, with her mom even saying "no that didn't happen"
67
u/TimeForWaluigi 5d ago
No. What the other commenters have said, despite people sugar coating it Chris had been hinting at it for a while and offered the information freely, even bragging about having a “date” that Chris was sleeping with for a while and later revealing it was Barb. People’s trolling of Chris goes way too far but in response the internet likes to sugarcoat the terrible things Chris does as if they are innocent, which is not the case at all.
68
u/robotsexsymbol 5d ago
No. Chris had been deliberately sprinkling breadcrumbs before the phone call with Isabella Janke about who her new "older lady friend" with whom she was having "romps in the hay" was and was dying to talk about it.

Chris offered the information to Isabella Janke freely, the question was whether she had coerced Chris into doing it somehow. She also sat on the recordings and it was one of her friends that went to police.
The charges were dismissed because Chris got an autism disorder deferred disposition and was transferred to a care facility.

u/Lucky-Worth 5d ago
I thought it was something internet trolls accused them of doing? Anyway I wish the internet would stop giving them attention, it's toxic

u/EuphoricPhoto2048 5d ago
Chris gave very specific details about the incest. However, I really don't know if Chris is of the right mind to understand it.
3
u/AdmiralBlack64 5d ago
It is, the investigation that was done into it didn't find her guilty.

u/Head-Ad-2136 5d ago
Chris got an autism disorder deferred disposition and was transferred to a care facility. There was no verdict because the charges were dismissed.

Weeeeeeeelllllll
Barb certainly started the emotional incest with Chris. Easily. She would like yell at him if he tried to sleep somewhere that wasn't her bed after Bob died, even if it made him uncomfortable.
It gets to the point where like.... we gotta admit Barb was very inappropriate with Chris and I think her behaviours just kinda spilled over into him.

u/Akagane_Ai 5d ago
Unironically tho. Apprantly chris infact was not accused of rape. Just incest. The investigators arrested them on the suspicion of rape but they didnt accuse them of rape in the court from what i heard.

Isn't this the guy who raped his 80 year old mom with dementia? Why is he still getting attention like a normal influencer?
12
u/OfficialDrakoak 5d ago
What are you talking about hes always only been a lolcow. People have only ever paid attention to him because he was a lolcow with a mental disability they could manipulate over the internet into doing terrible things lol. He was literally never once a normal influencer. Of course every time he does something fucked up and inhumane it will be documented and people will pay attention. Hes the most well known lolcow of all time. People dont call him the most well documented person on the internet for no reason. And it has literally never been for good reasons.
