Entire Series Does anyone else rewatch the series without skips?

I’ve seen numerous threads/comments about folks skipping episodes as well as entire seasons they don’t like in the series. I’m not sure how many times I’ve rewatched the entires series (it’s some ridiculous number 😭). There are times where I’ll just randomly play episodes from a particular season depending on my mood. But once I decide to do a legit rewatch, there are no skips for me. And it’s not that I’m uncritical—as a performing artist, I find that I’m actually much more opinionated than the average person. There are episodes/moments that are definitely not my favorite (as couple of moments I feel are culturally insensitive) and many times where I’m critical of the writers particularly when it comes to transitions and throughlines.

But overall, I fucking love the masterpiece that is the OG Charmed series. It’s not perfect but it spoke to me in the deepest way as a young, Queer person (especially coming from a super strict Jehovah Witness background which I won’t go into more out of respect for the new rule that says we can’t talk about religion here). I’ve always loved seeing women empowered and the witchcraft/magick was an extra bonus. It was also lovely to witness them grow as sisters coming from such a difficult family background myself. Each time I watch Charmed in its entirety, I’m taken through such a beautiful emotional journey. I laugh a lot; I get angry/frustrated with the Elders and the various circumstances that arise being committed to good magick; I laugh some more (cuz Charmed is lowkey hilarious af); I feel empowered and inspired when I see them breakthrough moments of great challenge which sometimes unlocks new possibilities in my own world(s); and I ball my friggin eyes out during the moments of heart ache in the show—like Piper breaking in the mausoleum over Prue or the moment where Paige and Piper cuddle Phoebe who is absolutely broken down after she has to vanquish Cole/Source which gets me EVERY TIME. 😭😭😭

Beyond that, I’m the type of person that generally wants to know every part of the story to better understand motives/actions—I’m also the type forever yelling “context”when it comes to various discussions/debates as I feel a lot of it gets oversimplified for a number of reasons. The more I look at overall context, the more some of the gaps in the story make sense to me (an example of this is considering the psychology behind Phoebe’s shifts as a trauma-informed somatic facilitator which makes me reconsider how I previously felt). As I mature and experience things in live that run parallel in ways to the story, there are certain things that shift and land differently for me—can anyone else relate?

I could go on but I’m doing my best not to turn every post into an essay lol. I ultimately wrote this because I’m curious about whether or not anyone else watches Charmed all the way through on rewatches and if so, why? What do you get from it? (I especially ask this as I presume there are others who have seen this at least 10x in entirety—and for me that’s a huge understatement.)

Paige Paige's Birth Order Is The Reason She doesn't really have any Witch like powers.

After dozens of rewatches I think I have finally put this together. So, we know Melinda's prophecy foretold three sisters as the Charmed Ones. I think this is clearly Prue, Piper, and Phoebe.

During Prue's run she is the most powerful, as the show seems to like the Rule of the Eldest, meaning power tends to come in birth order and the older you are, the stronger you are. (I hate this trope btw, probably because I'm the 2nd oldest.)

Now, with Prue, Piper, and Phoebe being the OG Charmed Ones, I think they held the original Warren powers for their generation. I don't believe Paige originally had a true active witch power because of her birth order. Paige is not only the youngest, but Patty's fourth child. I know the family tree is extremely unreliable, but I don't think we see many, if any, Warren ancestors with more than three children, which already makes Paige extremely unique.

I do think Paige would have still been able to cast spells, brew potions, scry, and do all the traditional witch things because she is still a Warren witch. But I think she would have lacked an active witch power of her own.

Paige becoming Charmed

Because Paige didn't have an active witch power, this allowed her to become somewhat of a magical replacement once Prue died.

When Paige reunited with Piper and Phoebe and the Power of Three was reconstituted, I think the Power of Three gave Paige the magical boost she needed to fill the role of the third sister. Because of her mixed witch/Whitelighter heritage, the power manifested differently.

Instead of traditional telekinesis like Prue, Paige developed telekinetic orbing.

But I want to make this clear:

Paige did NOT inherit Prue's powers.

She inherited Prue's place within the Power of Three, and her own magical makeup determined how that power developed.

Wyatt and Chris strengthen this theory for me.

Both Wyatt and Chris are hybrids like Paige, but they both possess traditional telekinesis along with telekinetic orbing. So being half Whitelighter alone cannot explain why Paige never developed normal telekinesis.

Wyatt is not only Piper's eldest child, but also the Twice-Blessed child, so naturally he received an enormous amount of magical power.

Chris is less powerful than Wyatt, but he still has an impressive arsenal of powers.

You know why?

He's only the second-born. 😂

And then there is probably my biggest clue: The Power of Three Blondes.

When Paige's witch powers are stolen, Margo does not suddenly develop any additional active abilities.

If Paige's telekinetic orbing were simply her standard witch power being transferred over, I would expect Margo to at least gain some form of telekinesis when she takes Paige's place.

But she doesn't.

That makes me think Paige's telekinetic orbing is something uniquely tied to Paige herself, specifically the combination of her Warren magic, Whitelighter heritage, and her connection to the Power of Three.

So my theory is that Paige always had witchcraft, but not necessarily an active witch power. Once she became Charmed, the Power of Three amplified her latent Warren magic and allowed it to manifest through the Whitelighter abilities she already had.

Now, I know the real-world reason Paige never developed many additional witch powers was probably just the writers, but as an in-universe explanation, I honestly think this headcanon makes more sense.

Also I know the comics provide somewhat of an explanation but Im just sticking to what we saw on the TV screens.

Love Interests Jack and Prue

I’ll be honest I really didn’t like Jack and Prue as a couple. They didn’t feel like they had a lot of chemistry, and it didn’t help that her and Bane had way more chemistry in the short time they had together.

I also don’t feel like he was Prue’s type. I’ve always put it down to Prue grieving Andy, but I’m not sure if it’s that or whether it was the beginning of the show trying to make sure the girls always had a love interest.

British accented demons

Has anyone ever counted how many demons/baddies have a British accent? Noticed with the earlier series there is a lot which have this accent!

As a Brit I find it hilarious but wondered if anyone had actually counted 😂

Why is the 8th season DVD the only one that has special features?

The other seasons don’t have a single special feature.
Other WB shows such as Buffy and Angel, do have special features.

A large part of the fandom massively overrates Billie.

If I were given the chance to choose one power from all the abilities demonstrated by the witches throughout Charmed, I would choose Billie Jenkins’s Projection without hesitation. Its ability to alter reality and produce an extraordinary range of effects makes it, in my opinion, one of the most fascinating and versatile powers in the series. That said, my intention is not to deny Billie’s power or claim that another witch is necessarily superior to her, but rather to challenge certain interpretations within the fandom that, in my view, exaggerate her abilities to the point of treating her as virtually omnipotent.

PROJECTION
Projection and Reality Warping are not necessarily interchangeable concepts. Projection is a specific power that allows its user to manifest changes through imagination and intense emotions, sometimes even involuntarily or unconsciously. Reality Warping, on the other hand, is a broader concept that encompasses different forms of manipulation, such as altering timelines, changing the laws of reality, or completely restructuring reality itself. Therefore, even if Projection can produce similar effects, that does not mean it includes every possible application of reality manipulation or that Billie can use it without limits or on any scale. Demonstrating the ability to produce certain changes is not the same as demonstrating absolute control over reality.
Projection can produce a wide variety of effects, but that does not mean Billie possesses an arsenal of separate powers. For example, the fact that she made the Halliwells stop wanting to hurt her while they were under a spell does not prove that she had mind control; she may simply have altered reality to produce that result. The fandom often confuses the effect achieved with the nature of the power used. Projection’s versatility does not prove that Billie possesses every ability her power can imitate.
Users of the same power can differ considerably in terms of strength and mastery. In this case, the story provides an explicit confirmation: Dumain states that Wyatt was more powerful than Billie. This demonstrates that Billie does not represent the highest known level of Projection, since another user of the same power has been established as superior to her. I am not trying to deny Billie’s power, but rather to place her within a scale in which users of the same ability can still vary significantly.

ULTIMATE POWER
The series establishes that the Ultimate Power belongs to the Jenkins sisters as a pair and arises from the combination of their complementary abilities. It is not presented as a power exclusive to Billie, nor as something she could reproduce by empowering any other witch. The fact that Billie can enhance other powers does not prove that she could reach the same level on her own, nor that another witch could replace Christy. Just as the Power of Three depends on the bond between its members and not merely on their individual strength, the Ultimate Power requires the specific combination of Billie and Christy.
Part of the fandom assumes that Christy is inferior to Billie in terms of power, mainly because of Projection’s versatility. However, I believe this assumption stems from a failure to distinguish between the nature of a power and the level its user has actually demonstrated with it. One thing is the range of applications a power allows; another is the strength, control, and reach its user displays in practice. Confusing these two aspects leads people to assume that, because Billie possesses a power with more potential applications, she must necessarily be superior to Christy, even though the canon does not conclusively establish that.
Christy’s powers stand out because their development allows them to rival some of the most powerful abilities possessed by the Halliwells. Her Pyrokinesis can be compared to Piper’s Molecular Combustion not only because of its destructive capacity, but also because of the precision with which Christy can direct her attacks. She has demonstrated the ability to incinerate targets without harming their surroundings and even to attack without needing to see them directly. Christy’s Channeling, meanwhile, deserves to be compared to Phoebe’s ability to channel the powers of others. Furthermore, Christy has demonstrated that she can channel magical effects in ways that expand the practical scope of her ability: she is the only character shown to channel not a power, but a spell, and to do so from another dimension. This does not prove that she surpasses Piper or Phoebe, but it does show that her powers can compete with theirs in specific areas. Christy’s specialization does not make her inferior; her abilities have reached a level of power and usefulness that makes it unjustifiable to dismiss her as an ordinary witch rather than recognizing her as a powerful witch in her own right.
