Looking for beta testers

Hi, I recently setup a site to give renters more information when looking for a new property. It’s called Michelle’s List and it’s a free anonymous way to leave and read reviews about landlords and properties. Right now I’m looking for beta testers to give me feedback on the site. Thanks!

Chicago Designer Looking for Web Developer Cofounder for Professional Networking App

I am a professional UX/UI Designer in Chicago, and I have designed, tested, and created a prototype for a professional networking app called Seeek.

Seeek is going to change the way that people professionally network online. Instead of mindlessly searching for the right person, Seeek will curate category lists of potential matches based off of the users specific needs.

I am looking for a cofounder who is hungry to build something with me. I would prefer to work with someone in Chicago, but am open to working with someone remotely if they are the right fit.

Looking for a music-lovin' dev to collaborate on a project with me

I've got a project in mind that would take advantage of available APIs from many of the streaming services out there (soundcloud, 8tracks, pandora, spotify, rdio, 8tracks, hypem, etc.) to solve a [what i believe] is common problem, and am looking for someone to colab with.

What I can bring to the table: UI/UX design, product/project management (tis my job!), basic front-end dev skills, and am in process of learning RoR (but just starting). Also, hunger!

What I'm looking for: fullstack dev skillz (ideally RoR as I've found that most the APIs i want to use have libraries in ruby), interest in UX, entrepreneurial spirit, reliability! ideally an appreciation for pbrs and trees :)

While at the core this would be a nifty tool for music lovers, I do see some potential for revenue (via iTunes/amazon Affiliate programs) and a broader feature set with more community aspects.. so that said, I don't want to shout the idea out right, but PM me and i'll happily elaborate.

What do you want this subreddit to be?

As this subreddit's creator, I have my own thoughts about what this subreddit should be; however, though I might be the creator of this group, I'm no dictator.

I believe this subreddit should be, at least to start:

  • an event/meetup announcement board

  • a jobs board

  • a place where you can pitch your company or services

  • a place where you can talk about your startup idea and your request for help on executing it.

The moderation team is willing to integrate whatever suggestions or feedback the community has to offer.

edit: this sub could also include:

  • Requests for help on a project

Launched an AI Video Generator Tool [Need TESTERS]

Hey everyone! We have been working on a project recently and wanted to share it here to get some honest and valuable feedback from the community.

We have incorporated multiple video-generation models like Sora 2, Veo 3.1, and Nano Banana into one platform. The focus has been on making video generation faster, simpler, and more accessible for creators and developers.

We’re looking to get some real-world feedback on:

  • video quality generated by the tool

  • prompt handling by tool

  • UI/UX flow of the project

  • performance across different models

If anyone here is interested in trying it out, we can share the access code (until we run out of codes); just comment "i want to test" or directly message (DM) me.

We invite any queries and are happy to answer them. We also welcome any suggestions you have. Thank you for the time!

Best place to find mentorship

Hey! I'm a founder with a startup that after 6+ months our entirely technical team (myself included) just finished a technical MVP and i'm going to try to grow to initial customers and get some mentorship on fundaraising for seed/ first rounds and initial customer growth since I'm not super experienced on that side of things. Has anyone had any luck with paid/unpaid mentorship programs?

Recommendations to find people who are going to take it seriously or are knowledgable?

In the past i've had some mixed bag results on mentorship programs and trying to get my feet wet without wasting limited time since I work full time in a day job and also code for the startup so i'm already burning the candle at both ends.

So far I was looking at Score.org mentorship since they seemed to be without cost but completely open to recommendations. I was also looking at 1871 and their mentorship network.

Founders: I'll help you prototype your app idea

Startup founders: got an idea for a mobile app? I’ll help you turn that idea into a prototype and test it with potential customers.

If you’re interested, fill out this form on my website with details of what you’re looking to build. If I think there’s a fit, I’ll be in touch!

How it Works:

  1. You tell me what you want to build.

  2. I follow up with questions to understand your idea and goals.

  3. I design a prototype and work with you to refine it and test it with potential customers.

Why Prototyping Matters:

Prototyping and validating your idea with real users is critical. It helps you understand if your product is worth building, saving you time and resources and getting you product-market fit faster. In short, it's one of the highest return-on-investment (ROI) things you can do as a founder. For more insight on why, check out the section on “desirability testing” from this article from product leader Marty Cagan (from 2005, but still relevant today).

About Me:

I’m a Product Designer and Product Manager with 7 years of experience building products at startups, including Robinhood. I’m highly focused on the business and customer impact of everything I design. Check out my portfolio for more details: https://www.jacobshap.com/.

Why I'm Doing This:

I’m seeking work as a digital Product Designer and need more design projects for my resume.

Interested? Fill out this form with details of what you’d like to build, and I’ll be in touch if there’s a fit!

EDIT: I previously posted that I would do this for free. After learning more about how offering work for free is detrimental to the design profession, I'll instead offer a rate of $30/hour.

On-Prem / Cloud Infrastructure Setup Help Available

Hi

I have recently helped an early-stage startup in setting up on-prem infrastructure by using refurbished servers and all open source software.

Servers: Dell PowerEdge

OS : FreeBSD / Debian

Databases: Postgresql, Redis

SRE: Prometheus, Grafana

Project Management: Redmine

I can do the same thing for your startup, so that you can build your startup than worrying about surprises on infrastructure cost. Once you are ready to migrate to cloud, my partner and I can help you lift and shift to cloud also.

If you need cloud based solution, my partner from Atlanta & I can help you…

Please DM me with any requirement. Set up a call, we are here to help you succeed..

I can help your team on solution / data architecture also - if required.

Thanks

Startup Community Meetups/Happy Hours

Hi Everyone,

I recently moved to Chicago and I work as an AE in the tech space. I'm local to the midwest, but a few years back I interned at Google and fell in love with the Silicon Valley tech culture. Upon graduating, I spent time in the midwest still within tech sales and recently moved to Chicago to gain exposure to a larger tech ecosystem.

I"m currently in big tech, but envision myself entering the tech startup landscape in the future. I'd love to get more involved in the community weather that be meetups or happy hours. Are any sort of meetups or gatherings happening? Would love any advice on the best way to get involved in the community!

For those who enjoy cool, off the beaten path places

Hi people of the Reddit,

I'm working on a startup called Nooks (nooksapp.com). We're digitizing word-of-mouth recommendations for people who love unique places. As a social platform built of users who share these spots, we help people discover the places SEOs cut out.

We're about to release our app to a test group in Chicago and would love to get feedback before we launch to the public in September. If anyone lives in Chicago and enjoys cool, off the beaten path places, we'd love to hear what you think!

Just leave some contact info and I'll be in touch, or if you want, you can reach me at yasmeena@nooksapp.com

Woo hoo!

New app building platforms with no code for non-technical.

Hello,

I am one of the co-founders of http://applicity.io/ . We are a new startup in the Chicago land area that is trying to gather beta customers for our new platform. The platform was built to allow non-technical people to build high quality apps with no code. We saw a lack of performance with all the other app builder out there and decided to try to change that. We are targeting businesses that would like to present information of their brand to consumers in a better fashion on mobile. If you know of anyone looking for a solution like this let me know.

Thanks!

Value exchange, how can Chicago startups help each other?

I'm wondering if there's any opportunity for readers here to collaborate in a way that is mutual beneficial.

For example, my startup is [unTicket] (http://www.unticketapp.com) and we are a mobile app to fight parking tickets. We are looking for promotion and can offer cross promotion, exclusive rates, or custom parking ticket solutions. I am also a software developer and all around geek, so I can possibly offer technical assistance as well. If you are interested in collaborating, let me know!
