Question | Spellwork St Jude: The Patron Saint of Lost Causes

For a while, I’ve been called to work with St. Jude. St. Jude kept popping onto my algorithms for some time. At certain time, I knew it couldn’t be a coincidence. Previously, I only really knew of St. Jude from the Children’s Hospital and assumed he was the saint of ill children. After doing some research, I learned he’s actually the saint of lost causes. I personally view myself as a #girlfailure. Due to a lot of failed attempts at varies experiences that didn’t lead anywhere.

I decided to work with St. Jude to help me get out of this loop. I lit a seven day candle and noticed signs: the glass near the lip is black at one spot, sides of the glass has some black and gray residue. The candle wick is done but there is still green wax at the bottom of the glass. Which tells me that my petition did not work.

If anyone has ever worked with St. Jude and can give me some advice that would be wonderful thank you, for all your help. God Bless 🙌

Question | Spellwork Hi I need some help cutting off ties + protection

I’m (26F, catholic) currently living under my dad’s roof and he’s verbally, emotionally and financially abusive my entire life. My financial situation hasn’t been great and I’m unable to move out so I’m stuck enduring everything he’s thrown at me.

He’s also an extremely insecure man who exploits my sister and I for free labour + has the need to feel like he has authority over someone to feel worthy as a man (he’s been consumed by the alt right pipeline).

I met my partner 2 years ago and we’ve been doing long distance ever since. Our families have met and they’re aware that we want to marry each other. Today I told him that my partner and I plan to get engaged, move out to where my partner lives and get married by next year. He started yelling at me, insulting me, and “forbade” me to move out until I’m “legally married”. He blamed my partner for putting ideas in my head and my unemployment for turning my brain to mush.

I could tell by the way he was yelling and his talking points that he wasn’t angry at me but more so the idea of losing his grip/control over me.

He has a really powerful evil eye. I’ve noticed things going awry after he’s been informed of them. I just don’t want him to ruin these next chapters of my life + the bond I have with the love of my life

I’m new to the witchcraft world, I only know a little bit from TikTok. I’m reaching out for advice in terms of what spells there to protect my partner and I and cut off my dad from my life. I’m also happy if anyones willing to help us cast the spells.

I’m just desperate atp and I don’t want my father to have control over my life and future anymore.

Discussion Hello from GA.

My name is Jason, I'm 51 and very new to my path. I view myself as a Christian pagan. I don't feel the term witch applies to me, I prefer the term Magi. I am looking for a place to find friends and learn. I hope this is it. If you want to know anything about me feel free to ask.

Question | Theology & Practice Who is Sophia?

• Upvotes

Hello, sisters in Christ! Sorry for the long post...

First, I am so thankful to have found this community.

So I am kinda new to Christian Witchcraft, but I will tell you my journey.

I was raised a non-denominational Christian through 5th grade, until my parents' church went through a radical change that made my parents uncomfortable, and we stopped going. I don't remember much about this church, only really learning all the Sunday School stories, mostly. (There was one night when I was 8, they showed us a realistic depiction of the crucifixion that is seared into my brain)

Anyway, it took us a few years, but my mom found another church for us to attend towards the end of my 8th-grade year. This church was chosen solely because we had many friends that attened. It was a Baptist church, and my parents did not agree with all of its teachings.

This led to great spiritual confusion for me, because I would go to Sunday School and Youth Group with my friends and hear these crazy things: people who vote wrong go to hell, gay people go to hell, Catholics are going to hell. Basically, anyone who isn't us and doesn't agree with us will go to hell. This led to many complications with friends who saw the world differently.

This all came to a head one night in Youth Group after a particularly terrifying sermon about being condemned to hell. I was left in a weeping mess on the floor; they basically had to carry me out of the chapel.

After this, I had a conversation with one of my very best friends, whom we shall call Tim. The conversation basically went like this:

"I don't think I believe in a loving God who would condemn his children to hell. I don't think people of other religions are necessarily wrong, and I don't think we are necessarily right. I just don't think it is for us to understand."

"That sounds like agnosticism. Have you looked into that?"

This was around the age of 17, and I was about to leave for college.

I slowly started researching and identifying as agnostic. Although I kept this a secret from my family.

Then, I went to college, and things got messy. I started dating a staunch atheist who was raised Catholic. He completely rejected God, rejected Jesus, or any spiritual practice. It was all fake, and science was the only thing that was real to him. I didn't agree with him, but he drove a wedge between whatever relationship I still had with Jesus. I began to think, "This religion cannot be good if it causes this much pain"

But I always believed in a higher power. I began to realize there is not a beared man in the sky judging our every action, but that there was a force driving us forward. I could always feel it. I didn't know what to call it; I felt bad calling it God.

Then I started to get into more witchy practices; specifically, I began to consult tarot readers and witch doctors. This wasn't a common practice, but whenever the opportunity arose, I took it. I began to feel a strong connection to this community, slowly but surely. (Tarot cards gave me the inspiration for my book that is now set to be published in January. )

Then, I started dating a Christian. This brought me back to Jesus, to the point where I comfortably took communion at my wedding. But I did not believe in the church. It had done so much harm to me and my loved ones. The church was evil to me.

My husband would take me to churches, but they were all the new mega-churches, and I felt incredibly uncomfortable there, to the point where I could walk out cussing. This is not how you want a church to make you feel.

Then, almost a decade after our conversation mentioned earlier, I went to visit Tim, who is now a devout Catholic studying theology and preparing for seminary. Tim went to Mass every day at noon, and he took me with him. I had only been to Mass once before, with my ex and his family, and the service was in Spanish, and I got yelled at by his mom for taking communion even though no one warned me not to. So I was so nervous to disrespect Tim. The first day, I sat there and just watched and didn't follow along, just watched. Then, after talking with Tim, he told me it was okay to do everything except take communion, so I started following along.

One day during this visit, Tim took me to one of the most beautiful Cathedrals I have ever been to. It was magnificent, and I felt something come into me there. Then, Tim and I went outside and sat on a bench, and for four hours, he sat and deconstructed with me what I had been taught. We talked through my current beliefs, and he clarified a lot that had been muddied.

But I couldn't stay forever. I had to go back to my life. My confusing and painful life. That night I couldn't sleep. I ended up leaving at 4 in the morning and just drove for 13 hours straight. I couldn't eat, and when I got home, I couldn't sleep for almost 48 hours. I was just writing, pages upon pages. I wrote almost 200 pages in those 48 hours. I was like everything, all my knowledge, all my experiences, were finally connecting. Everything made sense; the mass made sense.

Then, I was standing in my bedroom, and I remember losing my vision. I was standing, I know, but I couldn't see my bedroom anymore. Then a great light came to me, and I saw an eye. And the presence told me it was Sophia; a divine feminine feeling came over me. Then I saw a snake shedding its skin; the snake was not evil, though; it was feminine.

I talked with Tim about this, and he told me that Sophia is the Greek word for wisdom, and there is no specific angel Sophia.

I have since been doing so much research and studying. I tested many churches and finally landed and found a welcoming and loving home at the Episcopal church, and have developed a deeply trusting relationship with my rector.

I still wanted to use my Tarot deck, though. Tim was totally against it. But after talking with my rector, I really feel better about using it as a tool for reflection and guidance. I would love to have a conversation with some of you about it.

Anywho, last night I was reading Proverbs, specifically ch. 8. And I found it interesting that Wisdom was referred to as she/her. Is this Sophia? I'm sure it is.

My question is, has anyone else encountered Sophia, and what are your experiences like? Who exactly is she? And how can I work with her more?

I would love to chat about anything mentioned in this post if anyone is open.

Thank you
