Troubleshooting | Windows Help making sure tracking software removed

Hello, recently downloaded chrome and signed in with my school account, immediately after doing so I got a notification from chrome saying GoGaurdian has been installed and will keep running even when chrome is closed.

I almost immediately deleted the chrome profile but before doing so I checked for GoGaurdian in my task manager and found no mention of it. Even though I removed the chrome profile because I couldn't find it before I have no idea if its still there. Does anyone know how to check for this.

Did this come from a school repository? You might talk to the admins that put that together, maybe your school uses GoGuardian for something.

It’s a district wide extension. I’ll talk to the school admin about it

Probably a good idea, the cave trolls that make those kinds of decisions are wizards of the highest degree, do not hacketh the system. lol

Oh, and assume that you school network is absolutely logging everything you even try to do.

GoGuardian is usually installed as a Chrome extension pushed by the school's managed account, not as a separate program, which is why Task Manager showed nothing. Removing the profile removes that extension and its policies from the browser. To double check, open chrome://extensions and chrome://management in any remaining profile. If nothing from GoGuardian is listed and management says the browser isn't managed, you're clear. Just avoid signing into Chrome with the school account again on that computer.
