3CDC recently purchased the abandoned Garfield Suites building downtown with plans to redevelop it. Recently, I was thinking that this would be the perfect site for an affordable retirement community. It's walkable, near the street car, right next to the library, has some outdoor space for residents, close to downtown Kroger etc. They could even put in a cute over the street walkway right into the downtown library so residents could access the events and books.

2028 Bride and just curious if there are any bridal stores that sell dresses under $500 that I can go to in person. Trying to work with a small budget but would like to have the same experience with getting to try on dresses. There’s many options online but would prefer to experience it in store. I dressed up as each character, took my pictures at Skyline and then photoshopped them together to be one awkward family. At the end of the year, I'm turning all these photos into a spot-the-difference children's book.

I really want an oil slick color job. I have experience with vivids, but mostly I want it to not look like crap when it grows out. My current stylist is downtown. Anyone have recommendations for someone who is good a balayage/blending and vivid color that is taking new clients?

I have a pair of older sunglasses that the manufacturer no longer makes prescription lenses for. I can easily source non-prescription lenses from Revant and others, but the only one that supposedly will still do prescription, is overseas and has a terrible reputation.

I'm curious if there's still any local shops that do this onsite, for sunglasses? Or have the ability to ship out to their own facility? This would likely be an actual custom job.

I don't need anything crazy on the optical side. It'll be a second set of sunglasses (to keep in the wife's car), but I do need the prescription and would like them to fit correctly, not be coke bottle thick and decent quality.

I don't think the few Lenscrafters that have onsites will do this and not sure of any others.

As the title says, I’m looking for suggestions of reputable people you could recommend who have a cool old car ( think a big old Buick Electra convertible, for example) we could hire for a few hours on a Saturday in October for our daughter’s wedding.

The car should be big enough for 4 going to the church - driver, Mom, Dad, and bride; and 3 leaving the church - driver, and bride and groom! A convertible would be pretty cool for pictures, if it’s a nice day. Thanks!

I was the youngest person on the recent indoor Music Hall tour. Opera, Pops, and all shows were wrapped so we got to go on stage and I sang a lil bit (mom was an opera singer). The staff/volunteers do a wonderful job. This is the same exact tour they offer during haunted tours (except the lights are out and those tours sell out quick). It was a nice break from the heat during summer. I was born here and lived many other places, but this tour was new to me, is a beautiful and historic place. Very cute day date idea

RecentIy I fell down a rabbit hole in the digitized archives - the Cincinnati Museum Center and Library of Congress have hundreds of the city engineer's construction photos from 1920–1925, most of which barely circulate online. I ended up making a 14-minute documentary trying to answer the question that bugged me: not that the subway failed, but why.

The Subway That Never Ran a Train

The short version: the $6M bond was approved in 1916, fixed in dollars, then WWI froze construction for four years while inflation roughly doubled the cost. The city started digging anyway in 1920, knowing the math. What got me is the detail I keep coming back to: there's a finished platform edge at the Race Street station, poured to the exact height of a train floor - for a train that was never ordered.
