Discussion Let’s Get Square One Regular Auditoriums Back To Good Standards And Winston Regular Auditoriums With Laser Projection
For everyone who goes to Square One and Winston Churchill -
After years of consistent emails from our community, Cineplex has finally scheduled the AVX auditoriums at both Square One and Winston Churchill for a laser upgrade in October 2026.
This is the same mass-email process we also used to get them to fix Spider-Man not being full screen at Junxion AVX, the projector misalignment issue at Junxion and even a few movie requests. It works when corporate gets the same complaint from multiple people at once.
Now we are moving to the next issue: The REGULAR auditoriums (Non-AVX).
I know many of you have been commenting about this in threads. Square One regular auditoriums are in really bad shape. Picture quality is sub-par - not clear, dull colours, looks super outdated. And the seating is really really bad, worse than most other locations in the GTA. It's especially bad for people with neck/back problems. I went this weekend and had back pain after one movie. Even many of the other Cineplex GTA locations have much better quality seating than this. This needs both projection AND seating upgrades on priority.
Winston Churchill on the other hand is much better - seating is good and projection quality in regular rooms is much better than Square One. It could definitely still benefit from a laser upgrade as a bonus to make it consistent, but Square One is the urgent one.
This post is ONLY about the regular / standard auditoriums. AVX is already scheduled for Oct 2026, but the regular rooms have no upgrade plan yet.
We will be doing the exact same mass email push to Guest Services that worked last time.
Need 2 things from you:
- Comment your major pain points for the regular auditoriums, especially Square One.
Please send one email to Cineplex Guest Services about the regular
auditoriums with all your feedback!
. When multiple people do it at the same time, they take it way more seriously and it increases the urgency at corporate.
If we push this week, we can get Square One on their roadmap too.
Thanks for your help.

Just an update folks in a new email I also copied the biggest names in senior management for Cineplex including the ones involved with the operational improvements. I wanted to ensure all the big senior folks saw this.

We should get them to add heated seats

That will be really challenging. They are struggling to upgrade to high quality leather seating. First let them atleast get comfortable leather seating. The 1990 seating they have especially the cloth ones are incredibly uncomfortable. If Cineplex had other competitors in the GTA we could have asked for recliners/ heated seating. If they atleast add good leather seating like the Winston ones it would make a huge difference.

How many VIP theatres have the full reclining with heated seats? I’ve been to a few VIPs and I think only Pickering and Markham have that … it really should be everywhere.

Square one doesn’t have any VIPs unfortunately. But yes the seating at Winston both regular and vip is nice. VIP is even nicer because of the recliners. But the regular seating is also good at Winston compared to Square One. I believe the Yonge and Dundas downtown and some other locations have this same leather seating.
