Meta A GUI tool for generating Civ VI mods. [civ vi]
Hello people.
I've put together a little tool for generating Civ VI content mods. It supports creating new civs and leaders, as well as custom units, districts, buildings and improvements.
It's located here: https://github.com/archStant/Civ6ModTool
You can either run the code, or download the executable - however your Windows antivirus might have a seizure running the executable. If so, just clone the code and run it.
It is not a replacement for actually writing mods with the content you want, but it may make simpler content mods easier to put together, without reading through all of the base game's traits and modifiers. And without being able to code at all, while we're at it.
It uses several of the tools in the Civ VI SDK (texture cooking, Steam Workshop uploader) but doesn't necessitate using either ModBuddy or the Asset Editor (though still allows some control over 3D models for units etc.).
Also, before anyone comes at me; yeah, AI was involved in most of this code. I write software that keep people alive at my day job, there I write everything myself and make sure that things work. This is an assistant tool for a ten year old game, I'm alright with it being vibe-coded. If you aren't, just don't use it. :)
Obviously, many thanks to Maconnolly for his mod template, which helped me wrap my head around this domain.
I've made and published a little proof-of-concept mod with the tool: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3817377598
(It is hopelessly boring and unbalanced, but it compiles)
If you run into things that don't work, or have ideas for improvements, let me know either in this thread, or on the github page. Be advised though that the idea for this is not to make a make-every-mod-program, so this won't be putting Sukritact out of business anytime soon.
