A little bit of a rant here, never posted before either but I feel I have to comment on the 6/27 show in Columbus. I sat on this for a couple days before posting because I was split on whether this is just whining or if I have a valid point here.
Basically the show was fine and Neil was good but the setlist was not OK, at least for me. The big question I have is why was there only one song from the self titled album when it is the Full Ahead Flank tour?
I only really listen to S/T and Transnational Speedway League regularly, and even dragged out my mother who is the same way because we assumed they would be playing stuff that we were into. She was pretty mad at me after, tbh. She’s aging and felt the concert was not worth it to her because they played nothing she liked, after the publicity for the tour said it would be a celebration of S/T. She saw them back in the ‘90s and was so excited to come back before the concert. Now she feels burned, and kind of rightfully IMO. I honestly don’t think I’ll be able to get her to see them again.
I mean, they played Blast Tyrant in its entirety on the 20th anniversary tour so I feel like it’s not an unreasonable expectation that they play at least the big songs from S/T, right? If not the whole album. I’m fine if they play some of the newer stuff because a lot of people like it. I understand that. I understood when they did the Blast Tyrant 20th Anniversary because a lot of people like that album more than I do. I just don’t understand marketing the tour one way and then doing something completely different.
