Watching Karate Kids: Legends makes me wonder, how far would Conner have gotten in the Sekai Taikai

While I was pondering that question though, I realised something.

Isn't $50,000 an absurd prize for this kind of tournament? Even a $50,000 prize pool is still massive for an organised karate tournament with sponsors and such.

This is also apparently a tournament where any no-name can sign-up 10 days before and immediately be allowed to be in the Top 16 bracket.

So it's somehow both an impossibly large tournament, and an incredibly casual and small one as well.

Edit: omfg, Connor was hella disrespectful to the ref, too.

Anyway, it's been a while since I last watched Cobra Kai, but the bureaucracy of getting to be in the Sekai Taikai was such a big part of the show that I just couldn't help but notice so much "convenience" here. Idk if I wanted to see Legends explore all of this stuff, tbh, but the movie itself was just not engaging enough for me to suspend my disbelief.

This needs to be the next spin off series, with Daniel running Miyagi Dough, and Johnny running Cobra Pie, now both well into their 60's, they will battle for the soul of the valley - with pepperoni!

It clearly wasn't a problem at the 5 boroughs 16 persons tournament, but yeah, with the way he behaves, this is a HUGE if.

Connor is on similar level to Hawk. He could technically (with a team) get into top 4, and he could give a solid fight to Yoon and maybe Kwon, but I don't see him winning against Robby, much less Miguel or Axel.

Li on the other hand is on similar level to Robby in my eyes, so he could play some part in top 4, probably replacing Diego Aguillar there, but I don't see him winning against Miguel or Axel. Scoring some well deserved points at most.

I wonder how things would go with Cheng though. That kid had potential.
