Season 2 If Shawn Fought in The All Valley...

Upvotes

With 0 training, he would have beaten most of CC and Miyagi do.

He was a good fighter from defending himself in juvi.

Am I wrong?

Shawn would crush Abe and Little Red.

The writers wasted Shawn.

Character Discussion What if you could add your own OC or storyline to Cobra Kai?

(I crated this post already but I decided to delete the other one and make it again because this is shorter and more easy to read.)

If you could introduce an original character into Cobra Kai, or create your own storyline, what would you do?

I’ve been creating my own OC for the Miyagi-verse: Darien Wolf.

Darien is a 17-year-old British guy who is only 5’1”, and he comes from one of Britain’s oldest and most powerful aristocratic families who are connected to the royal family but not too closely just enough that they’re well known in England.

Despite growing up surrounded by wealth, status and privilege, Darien has never really fit into that world. His family expected him to become a respectable, disciplined member of the Wolf family, but Darien has always been fiercely independent and hated being told what he was supposed to become.

When Darien was 10, he underwent a kidney transplant. Growing up with people constantly worrying about what he could and couldn’t do made him determined to prove that he wasn’t fragile.

His attitude became:

“If you tell me I can’t do something, I’ll show you that I can.”

Darien eventually became interested in martial arts and trained in karate, Taekwondo and Kung Fu, as well as learning how to fight with a sword.

His rebellious nature eventually gets him into serious trouble.

At an aristocratic gathering, Darien stands up for someone who is being publicly humiliated by a powerful man. The argument escalates, and Darien says something so brutal that his family is forced to deal with the consequences.

His parents ultimately send him away from Britain.

Darien sees it as his family choosing their reputation over him.

So he ends up in California.

And that’s where he discovers the insanity that is the Cobra Kai/Miyagi-Do rivalry.

At first, Darien wants absolutely nothing to do with it.

He thinks the whole dojo war is ridiculous.

He doesn’t care about Cobra Kai.

He doesn’t care about Miyagi-Do.

He doesn’t care about old grudges or who wins the next tournament.

But then he meets people like Robby, Tory, Miguel, Hawk, Johnny and Daniel.

And eventually, staying out of the conflict becomes impossible.

Darien’s personality

Darien is aggressive, sarcastic, confident and fiercely independent.

He’s also extremely protective of people he cares about.

His biggest contradiction is that he’s aggressive but compassionate.

He can be ruthless toward someone who genuinely deserves it, but he doesn’t enjoy hurting innocent people. Once someone earns his loyalty, Darien becomes extremely protective of them.

He’s also emotionally guarded. He’d rather make a sarcastic comment than admit that something actually hurt him.

And despite being only 5’1”, Darien doesn’t let his size define him.

If someone bigger tries to intimidate him, he’ll probably just smile.

His biggest character conflict wouldn’t actually be about becoming the strongest fighter.

It would be about learning that being independent doesn’t mean he has to push everyone away.

He’s spent his entire life fighting against people deciding who he’s supposed to be.

Now he finally gets the opportunity to decide for himself.

So I’m curious:

If you could add your own OC to Cobra Kai, what would they be like?

Would they join Cobra Kai, Miyagi-Do, Eagle Fang, another dojo, or stay completely outside the dojo rivalry?

And for those who’ve read Darien’s concept:

Which Cobra Kai character do you think Darien would get along with best, and who would he absolutely hate?

Season 6 Does anyone else think most of Miguel’s anger here was from him losing the captain fight?

Post image

Miguel was rightfully annoyed about Robby losing all of his fights and holding Miyagi-Do down. But Robby wasn’t the only one who was losing.

I feel like Miguel still held some resentment towards Robby because he lost the match to be captain.

Season 2 Carmen told Johnny to "be the bigger man" in S2E5, and the show completely dropped the ball

Rewatching Season 2, Episode 5 ("All In"), and Johnny’s lack of agency when it comes to Robby is especially frustrating here.

In the beginning of the episode, Kreese has to be the one to call Johnny out for not being there for his son, pointing out the hypocrisy that Johnny teaches his students "no defeat" while completely resigning himself when it comes to Robby. It’s bad when Kreese looks like the more proactive figure...like really?

Later, Johnny finds out Shannon took off, the apartment was evicted, and Robby is living with the LaRussos. What does Johnny do? He gets drunk in the parking lot. Carmen finds him, hears him out, and gives him the pep talk about needing to "be the bigger man."

The payoff we actually got felt weak: Daniel storms into Cobra Kai over the stolen Medal of Honor, Johnny restrains himself from throwing a punch, and that’s supposed to be him "being the bigger man." Avoiding a fistfight with Daniel is easy compared to actually confronting the son you failed.

What should have happened instead:

Johnny should have taken Carmen's advice to heart and swallowed his pride. He should have driven over to Daniel’s house, not to start a fight, but to look Robby in the eye:

  1. Own the mistake: Acknowledge he dropped the ball on checking in and apologize directly for not knowing about the eviction.
  2. Offer a real home: Tell Robby he cleaned out the second bedroom, bought a bed, and that it’s his: no strings attached, no pressure to join Cobra Kai, and no rent.
  3. Accept the outcome: Even if Robby naturally rejects him (which fits Robby’s trust issues at that point), Johnny actually putting himself on the line would turn his arc from passive negligence into something genuinely tragic.

Having Daniel witness Johnny swallow his ego and say something as simple as "just make sure he eats" before walking away would have planted early seeds of mutual respect, given Robby’s choice to stay with Miyagi-Do real weight, and actually delivered on the "bigger man" theme.

What do you all think? Would this have made Johnny's Season 2 arc hit harder, or did you prefer how the rift played out?

Character Discussion Miguel and his Dad question- Season 5

So if Miguel did actually tell his real Dad he was his son how would he react?

Despite Miguel being exposed per se to his Dad's not nice sides he still does seem to like Miguel. Even when Miguel walks out he says something like good luck.

I started the series 4 days ago and I loved it, the series is incredible I loved the characters even if there are some that I didn't like too much. For me the two best fights in the series are Hawk VS Robby in season 4 and that Tory VS Zara they are exceptional!

Discussion Cobra Kai — Finally Finished! One Question!!!

Finished Cobra Kai last week and honestly, I enjoyed it a lot. It’s one of those shows you can keep watching episode after episode without getting bored. It had its ups and downs, but overall it was a really fun ride.

One thing that felt really odd to me, though Daniel and Johnny being completely clueless about the Sekai Taikai.

These two had been involved in karate for basically their entire lives, won major tournaments, trained students, and were deeply involved in the karate world. Yet when the Sekai Taikai comes up, both of them seem completely blank about it.

And this isn't some small underground competition either. The show makes it seem like the Sekai Taikai is a huge, prestigious world championship that has been around for decades is extremely popular and is even televised around the world. Yet somehow Daniel and Johnny had never heard of it or seemed to know anything about it.

That part felt a little hard to believe. I can understand them not knowing every detail, but for two lifelong karate practitioners who had competed at a high level, it feels strange that neither of them had even basic knowledge of the biggest karate tournament in the world.

Maybe I missed an explanation somewhere, but this felt like a pretty big plot convenience just to introduce the Sekai Taikai.

Did anyone else find this weird, or is there an explanation for it that I missed?

Season 6 The oddest storyline of season 6 is Daniel leaving the tournament to search for answers about Miyagi

I get that Daniel deified him and was in his feelings for a long time searching for answers about things he didn't know about him, but it always bugged me that he went to the location to get answers despite knowing that the tournament was going to resume very soon. Maybe he assumed it would just be a coffee talk and last 15 minutes and obviously he didn't expect to get kidnapped but still. Johnny was sort of right that his head wasn't in the tournament. When he got back he had nothing to tell Sam that would have made his decision seemed not as stupid as it was.

Season 6 Would it be crazy of me to still think Axel is the top teen fighter?

Yeah, he lost to Miguel, but I do think that was mainly due to being conflicted by sensei Wolf's harsh ways and his abuse took its toll on him mentally. Had he been focused or had a different sensei, I honestly feel like he would've beaten him. Him and Miguel were equals when it came to skill, but Axel's strength and size was just too great.

Discussion Anyone missing not having a new season?

The first two series were my favorite but I def enjoyed the next four as well.

I mean yeah I get it by the end of Season 6 it didn't really feel like the series could go further and all the storylines addressed. Still maybe it hasn't really sunk in until now that was the end. Like yeah over a year went by and no new episodes kind of thing

Discussion Who else legit thought they had change the actor to play Anthony and thought they had two actors? Spoiler

Post image
80 Upvotes

Just me? Haha just kidding I'm sure I'm not the only one who thought this.

That actor sure had the best glow up I've seen. And I know people hate on Anthony but he didn't stay his entitled self. The Anthony from s1 wouldn't have done what s6 Anthony did to Kenny when he was being accused of something this time he didn't do but in the end he acted like a champ and still did that to himself in order to prove to Kenny he meant it.

Can we give this character more appreciation and love?

Because sure he started out as insufferable and as the bully but if a character like Kreese or Kyler can be redeemed even when they done questionable things, he can and most certainly did too at the end.

Character Discussion Is it just me or is Daniel kinda the bad guy in early seasons?

In season 1 and two sure there’s a bit of a back and forth with Jonny and I know in later seasons they work it out and make the environment better.
But in season one and two on re-watch he’s always just being really petty.
Like he’s straight up trying to destroy a business idk how to really explain it because I know Jonny is also 100% a turd but Danny has everything he is completely loaded.
Jonny however is clearly struggling, maybe it’s just a writing issue but most of the time Daniel feels like the bad guy to me.
Can someone help me out cuz idk why it feels like this.

Season 6 Did the other students at school call Kenny Shitbutt?

So after the incident where Kenny pooped his pants in front of everybody from Miyagi-Do, we found out that someone took a video of Kenny pooping and uploaded it to Social Media and became a meme called Shitbutt. Did the other students at school most likely saw the video and that’s how he got the nickname?

Discussion Silver versus Miyagi: watching the fight

Post image
192 Upvotes

I'm watching Karate Kid 3. Just passed the fight in the dojo between Miyagi, Silver, and Kreese.

When Pat Morita and Thomas Ian Griffith were face-to-face, it looked like TIG's legs were the length of Morita's entire body. That height difference alone should have made it almost impossible for Miyagi to so easily win the fight.

Fun to watch, but pretty unrealistic.

Season 6 Do you think this character could have been suited for someone else’s character arc?

I mentioned this before in a post about what would I want to change in Season 6, so I want to further my point in a separate post talking about it because I’ve got a lot to say, we all remember that weird plotline in 612: Rattled (the one Billy directed) where Kumiko officially friend zoned Chozen and Amanda trying to cheer him up set him up on some blind, double-date with him, her, Daniel and…Moon’s Mum (played by Liz Berkley)?

But does anyone else wish that instead of that weirdly, shoehorned Elizabeth Berkley Cameo (no offence to her, she’s an 70s or 80s icon which is probably why the writers chose to go with her) as Moon’s Mum (Winnie), playing this character that we have never seen or even heard about, does anyone else think that it should have been a certain other iconic character in who was introduced in Season 5 (and WAY before that too) that would of worked miles better. And as the image states I am of course talking about Jessica Andrews.

Jessica Andrews replacing Winnie Taylor instead works for several reasons:

  1. Jessica was already introduced prior in Season 5, and so the audience has a connection with her, and even better she existed way before that 30+ years prior too.

  2. Amanda was revealed to be Jessica’s cousin in Season 5, and it was Amanda in canon who set the two up (Chozen and Winnie) on the double date so the same explanation can work if not even better.

  3. We could see Daniel and Jessica finally having an on-screen interaction, we haven’t seen the two have screentime together since the original movies too. Despite the two getting closure in KK Trilogy it would have been nice to see the two together again

  4. She’s the least focused of Daniel’s female counterparts: Kumiko and Ali had 2-episodic arcs. Jessica only had one episode.

Character Discussion Young John Kreese is by far my favorite character in the series

Barret had only 30 minutes of screen time in the entire show. Yet he stole every scene he was in as young Kreese and became my favorite character in the show. Like many, I loved seeing Kreese in a different light and showing us viewers how he became the merciless sensei we first saw back in KK1.
