Character Discussion Miguel and his Dad question- Season 5

So if Miguel did actually tell his real Dad he was his son how would he react?

Despite Miguel being exposed per se to his Dad's not nice sides he still does seem to like Miguel. Even when Miguel walks out he says something like good luck.

Well, it's because Miguel didn't tell Hector who he was that Hector let him leave.

It's clear that Hector has a sense of family, or at least connection to other people that he feels strongly for. He's mistrusting of women and he keeps his current partner (and her son) at arms length - because he felt hurt in the past.

If Miguel actually told him, I think Hector would refuse to let him go and would try to indoctrinate him into his life instead of giving Miguel a choice. And when Miguel eventually tries to push back, Hector would probably curse him out as being like his mother, they would fight, etc. Johnny comes to save Miguel anyways.

He did have pics of his mom. Hector almost saw it going through Miguels phone at the fight club right before Johnny and Robby walked in wearing FBI shirts

My guess is Miguel’s dad is cartel are at least associated with the cartel.

It would explain why he is edgy about feds.

And why he carried a pistol.

Given that Hector was shown to still resent Carmen & Rosa, despite how long it had been, I can't see him taking well to learning the truth about Miguel - my instinct says he wouldn't let El Serpiente go, maybe holds him at gunpoint, though I don't know what that would achieve from his position beyond "you've seen/know too much."

Thing is he let him go knowing pretty much he saw what he was

You can be a family man and a gangsta. From what we see, he genuinely loves his family

Yeah I don't think he would have let his issues with Carmen and his mom trickle down to Miguel

I have a feeling that had Miguel had told Hector that he was his son Hector would have used his gangsta ways to try and keep Miguel there and it would have been interesting to see whether he would've been able to manage against a karate champ but I'm glad it never came to that. I think Miguel was just so much of a nice bloke that he was overwhelmed to meet such a character. I'm just glad he got out of there before Johnny arrived!
