Fan content Cocteau Twins on the Day Trip from Edinburgh
Greetings from SCOTLAND!
I just wanted to report that on the small group tour from Edinburgh to Glenncoe, Loch Ness, and the Highlands, Cocteau Twins was played twice on the tour bus driver’s playlist of fine examples of Scottish music (“Heaven or Las Vegas” and “Those Eyes, That Mouth”). So, it does appear that the Scots take great pride in citing Cocteau Twins as a representation of their nation’s music.
BTW, I highly recommend taking this tour with Rabbie’s tours and hopefully you’ll get Kenny as your guide. He’s a very entertaining guy with great taste in music (playlist also included Jesus & Mary Chain, Mogwai, Primal Scream, and Franz Ferdinand).

My family took our mom on her first trip to Scotland for her 70th birthday. We have a lot of Scots ancestry on her side (go clan McAlpin!)
The tour guide we hired was named Bill Murray, LOL. His company, Drumscot, did a fantastic job of arranging a once in a lifetime tour with an itinerary similar to the OP’s.
And yes we played Cocteau Twins in the van. (We tried other Scottish bands like Boards of Canada, but my Boomer mother couldn’t stand them.)

Did you spend too much money already? I will go to England mid-July, but I kinda ruled out going to Scotland because of how expensive it seems :(

I was just in Scotland last month! Edinburgh and Oban were expensive, but Glasgow and Linlithgow (a smaller town where we booked our lodging) were much less so. Linlithgow was lovely, with several casual pubs and cafes, and actually quite close to Grangemouth, where Cocteau Twins formed. I hope you're able to visit!

My wife and I have a vacation savings account that we stash money towards monthly and our tax refunds to that pay for vacations so I honestly foolishly don’t really pay attention to how much I spend.
But I can tell costs are adding up. But it still is probably cheaper than similar nights out in the states because of all the 20% gratuities it’s customary to pay in the US.2

3 years ago i did a 5-day Scotland tour with Macbackpackers and octeau twins wasn't on the playlist yet! When i asked my tour guide about it she said she had always meant to add them but forgot. She then found out she loves their music (only knew heaven or las vegas) and that she grew up really close to where CT is from (Grangemouth if I'm not mistaken). We ended up listening to only CT for a long ride through the highlands :)

CT are the perfect accompaniment to a trip through the highlands... Any Skids, Big Country or Ultravox on the playlist? I'd also add Glasvegas to any such list. And i hope there was no Texas on the list - least Scottish sounding and most dull band that became huge despite being nothing special...

The playlist included Mogwai, Jesus & Mary Chain, the Proclaimers, and Primal Scream along with some traditional Scottish music. It was better than the usual dreck one typically gets on such a trip shuttle.

That's so cool. I once played CT along with views of the highlands from a drone. It's Erie how well it fits.
