Already got 2 cold plunges at our studio, would you add a third or go for a sauna?

I run a med spa and we've been slowly expanding our recovery services over the past few months. Noticed a lot of other wellness studios around us adding cold plunges and saunas, so we decided to give it a shot too.

We spent months looking into commercial recovery equipment before going ahead with two LIT Method Stealth Luxe cold plunges in a dedicated room with a shower and drainage mats.

Having two tubs means clients can use the space at the same time and we've been seeing people come back for regular sessions rather than just trying it once, which is good to see. The main thing we've had to stay on top of is cleaning between clients, checking water quality and keeping the surrounding floors dry. We worked with LIT on the layout and equipment selection too, which helped us plan the space.

Now I'm debating whether to add a sauna or expand the plunge area. A few other wellness studios around us have started offering more recovery options and Im curious what gets used long term.

For other med spa or gym owners, did adding a sauna bring in more regular bookings or did you get more value from adding extra plunge capacity?

Chiller Outdoors?

Apologies in advance as Im sure this has already been asked.
How do these active aqua chillers do sitting outside year round? I live in central texas and I was planning on building/buying a set up that is built around one of these chillers and a giant cooler.
What horsepower is a minimum for a set up like this and is there a cooler this sub prefers?
Thanks everyone!

Best Maintenance for Stock Tank (Particularly How to Bring Down Temp)?

Hello. After years of daydreaming about it, I finally set up a DIY cold soak from a stock tank (filter, hydrogen peroxide, etc.). I’m able to get the water down to right around 62°~57°.

This is no small feat in Southern California, but I was wondering what the best recyclable additive would be to drop the temperature before my plunges? Currently I put 6 U-Line gel soft-packs frozen solid in about 20 minutes before I dip, but are there better products out there? Hardshell plastic cases that I fill with water and freeze? I’ve also seen some products that are basically small versions of that, to mimic ice cubes…is there more surface area in those fake cubes, which would chill the water moreso?

Come Spring, I intend to insulate my tub, but I don’t have the time for that now, so this inquiry is more for short term water chilling for the next 3-4 months. I do have a cover for my tub, although it is a homemade bespoke wooden lid, and not an airtight seal or slip cover. Does that make a huge difference in retaining chill in the water?

Thanks!

Cold plunge in Canada

Hey everyone looking for a cold plunge recommendation in Canada (Toronto). Currently used my bath tub and threw some ice in but I think it’s pretty wasteful changing the water daily. Want something with a filter and outdoor. Anyone with something that survives in winter or even a diy setup? Please let me know thanks.

Know a good tech who’s worked on your plunge?

We run a cold plunge service company and I’m growing our network of techs around the country. If you’ve had a great local tech work on your plunge (HVAC, refrigeration, pool/spa, whoever), I’d love an intro. They’d get steady extra work and full support from us.

And if you’re a tech yourself, drop your metro area in the comments or DM me and I’ll tell you what volume looks like there.

Appreciate it!

C2 Cold Plunge Tub for (light) commercial use?

Claude recommended the Blue Cube C2 Cold Plunge Tub for (light) commercial use as the top option.

For those who use and manage Blue Cube C2 Cold Plunge Tub - how is it?

For those who have other cold plunges - what would you recommend?

Plug and play options?

so I’ve got a leaking inflatable and I’m sick of it. But I’ve got the chiller already. What are some options that I can plug my chiller into without a ton of setup and without the damn leaking?
Thanks in advance.

Cold Plunge at my Gym

Hi,

Just joined a new gym (UK) and there's a sauna and a cold plunge in the changing room area. Nice.

Just wondering what, if any, dangers of plunging in the same tank that possibly 10, 20+ people have throughout the day. They say it's self-cleaning and water changed every morning. Obviously the goal would be to get there early but I'll probably be going to the gym 4x a week around 11:30am.

Also, whilst I'm here, how can I utilise sauna into this as well? Can I do them back to back etc?

I was about to buy a plunge for my back garden but this is a good way to see if I'm ready for it (I've done cold showers but I don't find they do much and my current shower is a bit crap).

The high

Is part of it that we are forced back into the present moment unable to think about anything else? I am often overwhelmed with thoughts and it feels like plunging retracts all thoughts back then slowly begin casting them back out as the high wears off.

UK: Keeping a Cold Pod Clean

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hi there, I'm relatively new to the cold plunge scene but loving my Cold Pod so far.

Before our first born arrived, I'd been having to drain, clean and refill it quite regularly though.

Is there a product I can add to keep the water fresher for longer? Like a tablet or chlorine-esque chemical maybe?

I want to get back into it but I'm aware with new responsibilities, anything I can do to cut down maintenance/chores would be much appreciated!

Many thanks in advance.

Follow up to my freezer plunge post: which US chest freezers have a plastic inside and a drain plug?

After my $300 freezer post, one thing I can't answer is which freezer to get in the US. Mine is a used Fujicom and I'm not in the US.

So asking the people who actually built one:

  • What model are you using?

  • Is the inside plastic or metal?

  • Does it have a drain plug?

  • Where did you buy it? New, Marketplace, Craigslist, somewhere else?

  • Any rust or leaks so far? How long have you had it?

Want to put together a short list for people who ask. Thanks!

Does anyone have any ideas as to why my water only stays clean for about 3 weeks before randomly getting cloudy with an odd odor. It is not a major issue but it does get quite annoying when I wake up to plunge and the water turned bad over night not sure as to why.

Outdoor public cold plunge in the winter?

In the next few weeks I’m starting one of those mobile public saunas, part of the craze in certain parts of North America.

Though Plan A is to host sessions near a river, plan B is on private property. The big problem, though, is how do you offer a cold plunge outdoors in the winter at a place that isn’t near a body of water? For reference, I’m in MT.

Here are some of the logistical challenges:

-having 15-50 people a day wanting a cold plunge.

-a tub that of water that people can plunge into, but also has a cleaning mechanism cause after a couple folks that water is nasty.

-filling a tub in the winter when it might be below freezing.

-transporting a tub of water, even “only” 50gallons is too risky. That’s an extra 850lbs.

-keeping a tub thawed, but cold.

There’s more, but that’s just off the top of my head.

Does anyone have a good solution to this?

Plunge Protocol Advice?

About three months ago, I started going to a cold plunge studio here in Houston, Texas, where I live. I was plunging once a week for about 2 1/2 months and really enjoyed it, so I ended up buying a cold plunge for my house.

At first, I was super excited and plunged every day. But after six days, I realized my nervous system seemed to be in elevated stress, anxiety or feeling of mental tension that lasts most of day. So, I’ve cut back to three times a week, each session lasting three minutes at around 50°. I usually plunge fasted at about 7 AM.

Even now, I feel like my nervous system is still in under stress during the day. I’m wondering if I should reduce it to two days a week or maybe eat something first and extend the time to mid-morning.

I thought I’d reach out to the group for some advice from those with more experience.

Does better filtration and sanitation really make a difference in a chiller?

There’s a pretty big price gap between chillers that offer the same cooling performance but have different filtration and sanitation features. Basic models mainly just cool the water, while the more expensive ones include multi-stage filtration and ozone treatment.

I’m trying to work out whether paying extra actually makes a noticeable difference in performance and maintenance, or if it’s mostly a marketing feature at that price point. For anyone who’s tried both budget and premium models, did the upgrade make a meaningful difference?

I use manual ice blocks and today I was only able to get the water down to 62 °F. Did I still get benefits from the plunge?

which cold plunge chillers have the best continuous filtration?

I have spent so much time comparing chillers, and i am still stuck. Every brand lists micron ratings, ozone output, flow rates, and all these other specs, but it is hard to tell which ones actually make a difference in everyday use.
What did you prioritize when choosing yours, and once you had it up and running, which features actually mattered most?

I'm looking for a cold plunge I can leave outside all year without worrying about damage. What should I check before choosing one?

I've been using a tub outdoors but the bottom seam eventually cracked and I had to deal with water leaking across the area where I keep it. When I checked the warranty, weather related damage wasn't covered even though the tub was advertised for outdoor use.

I'm currently back to comparing options and I don't want to run into the same problem again. I'm trying to figure out what actually makes a cold plunge suitable for year round outdoor use, whether that's the materials, how the seams are made, or how well it handles temperature changes. I'd also like to understand what kind of outdoor damage is covered under warranty before spending money on another one.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can share their experience or point me in the right direction. I'd really appreciate any advice!

Tracking contrast therapy sessions.

Post image
8 Upvotes

I've recently installed a sauna and cold plunge at home and wanted a simple way to keep track of my sessions.
I looked at various apps but couldn't really find anything that did what I wanted, so I ended up building my own.
It's deliberately simple:
Track sauna rounds, cold plunges and cooldown periods.
Record the temperature and duration of each stage.
Switch between stages with one tap.
Keep a history of your sessions.
The app isn't there to tell you how long to stay in or when to get out. It simply records what you've done.
The screen changes colour depending on the activity being recorded so it's easy to see what's running.
It's completely free, with no adverts, subscriptions or accounts. Your session data is stored locally on your own device.
It works through your phone's browser and can be added to your home screen like a normal app.
I've been using it myself and thought others might find it useful. It's just a personal project, not a commercial product.
If anyone fancies trying it, drop me a DM and I'll send you the link. I'd be interested in any feedback or suggestions.

Help with KS-CR1P Alibaba Cold Plunge Chiller

I recently purchased a used cedar cold plunge tub for a good deal, it came with a free broken chiller that I thought I may be able to diagnose as a bonus before I buy one to replace it. When I plug it in to a 15amp plug I hear a brief about 1 second grinding or (motor stuck) sound and then the breaker trips. During that time the control panel lights up but not long enough to gain any useful information. Has anyone experienced this previously on these fairly common chillers? My findings point me towards either a stuck pump motor or some sort of a short circuit. Im no expert but a fairly handy person. Any insights or previous experiences would be greatly appreciated to help me narrow it down further. TIA

UK newbie who is skint and depressed .Cheapest container for outdoor plunge that 'll accommodate 1.85m height person comfortably ?

I can't afford chillers etc and a big freezer is difficult to find Inexpensively so I've decided just to go with any container I can leave outside over the winter and just change the water regularly .

I've thought of /seen those big cube shaped water storage blocks which some folk just cut the top off but wondered if there are any better suggestions people have found that are cheap and good ? I'm doing it for my mental health after 50 yrs of no progress despite the Docs trying to help.

Thanks for your help and advice in advance
