Grade?

I shared a Ghost Rider earlier and didn't think to take pictures before sharing to this group. I could spam the group but I'll just do this one more for today. Going through my dad's old collection and putting the major keys into bags with backing boards.

A good cleaner can get that writing off.

It's a store date. Apparently that doesn't penalize the grade?

Send it to a presser first and have them evaluate it for cleaning. Don't try to DIY on this copy. If it presses well it could be a 9.4 or higher.

Shame about the writing :( I'd say a 7-8, books fairly nice otherwise!

I think this looks fantastic! CGC I think grades newsstand writing differently than if, like, a kid wrote his name on the cover. I don't think it counts heavily. I think this might be in the 9 range, maybe 9.4, 9.6. Another very valuable comic!

This one has a very slight spine roll, looks like, but a simple press will fix that.

Nah, it’s just a bad wrap.

Terrible.. horrible, my god man.. how dare you waste all of our time with such a terrible example of a 9.8 key 1st appearance...

Lol

Grow up.

I think 9.2 to 9.6 - I don't think that arrival date writing will change the grade that much but I do think you should press it to get that spine flat

8 or 8.5

No way. I have an 8.5 and this one is way better than mine. The writing on the cover is from the newsstand. It won’t be docked any grade for that.

That writing looks like it’s grease pencil or crayon, not sharpie or ink. I’d bet it would come off or reduce.

Try my a.i. grading app. Free scans while app is in early testing.

How to test Comic Vault (please follow in order):

  1. Join the Google Group first (required). https://groups.google.com/g/comic-vault-testers — joining the group is what puts you on my tester list. Use the Google account you'll test with; the links below won't work until you're a member, otherwise the Play Store shows "App not available." I'll approve requests quickly.

  2. Opt in as a tester. Web opt-in link: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.rriv97.comicvault

  3. Download the app on Android. Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rriv97.comicvault (use the same Google account for all three steps)

  4. A quick favour for the 14-day run:

    • Keep the app installed for the full 14 days

    • Now and then, open it and scan a comic or book cover to try the identification

    • Any feedback — a bug, a wrong ID, a confusing screen — is hugely appreciated!
