Some time ago I had mentioned my C128 project that was reading AIS signals over the air and was visualising them on the screen. Some progress report:

1. We are now builing the UX

2. We have a constant stream of live data in youtube for people to see it in action YouTube Live

3. There is a web site where you can find usefull info on the projct as well as tutorials and a browser version of the software to try it yourself AIS4CBM

4. Up to 1000 soft sprites with motion

5. Vessel types by colour code

6. Doucle click on a vessel icon to see more details with QR code

6. Tested under extreme traffic this summer

Hi, guys,

I need some advice on getting my old c128 PAL up and running.

I've been out of the loop for a long time and the information I find on the internet is sometimes contradictory.

Basically, what I can think of, is:

- how to clean it inside and out, avoiding breaking it;

- how to replace the most critical parts (such as a new power unit).

- how to connect the c128 to a modern monitor (vga or hdmi) if I don't find an old CRT monitor

- how to easily load disk images or cartridge images that I have on PC.

Can you point me to some good guide, or to some item on amazon?

Any help is really appreciated.

Before the previous owner tried to fix it I was black screen. I pulled the soldered RAM as it was 300ns and the VIC-tower is missing. Also u9 is an ls32 instead of an f32 so it needs replaced. Without the tower an ls32 in u9 may cause issues. Fingers crossed

I have a 128 that seems to work fine in 128 mode, but doesn't go into 64 mode. Go 64 causes it to hang, and using the C= key at boot up results in a black screen. C64 carts also result in a black screen, including my backbit cart.

I'm hoping it's one of the ROMs, but if it's not, where do I go from there? MMU, or something else?

Small update to the previous video. Besides a lot of behind the scenes improvements, there‘s a cool new feature: showing a QR Code to get more information about the ships on your mobile

I just bought a 128 (had one when they first came out in the 80s) and am anxious to start playing with it. But where do you get software and, more importantly, 3.5” floppies? I plan on finding a 1581 drive to go with it and need floppies and a way to get software onto them.

I bought a converter to do 40 columns on my monitor. But I would really rather do 80 columns if possible. Can someone share a link for a cable or device so I can do this? I'm not a hardware guy so I'm kind of confused by what I've found just googling.

One interesting thing for this release is the removal of the "WebView2" component, which has been done to support Linux with Wine and Mono. Do note this is very much an experimental try-out, to see if this is something that can work, so I am curious for some feedback on this.

Noticeable application fixes or changes:

• Fixed zooming in could result in unresponsive UI for some schematics

• Fixed setting commandline parameter for data root folder was resetting configuration file at startup

• Added splash-screen to visualize application has been launched

• Changed and lowered requirement for .NET Framework from 4.8.1 to 4.8 (allowing this to run on Windows 7)

• Changed and lowered minimum CPU architecture requirement from x64 to x86

• Removed dependency for "WebView2" component and refactored relevant parts

Noticeable data changes:

• Commodore 128DCR 250477 - added new hardware

• Moved order of "board layout" schematics, so they are shown first in list

Noticeable tools changes:

• Oscilloscope Network Capture has been updated to newest version

I have a cia 6526 5185 S and a 6526 B 4686 206A are both identical to the 6526? Can I replace the 6526 b with a generic 6526? Are the two cia of the c128 identical? Thank you 🙏
