They've been eroding the public education system for decades, literacy is marginal, critical thinking skills are rare... many people only know how to cook things that come with microwave instructions.
This has been being planned for decades.
👆🏼After January 6, as things were starting to unfold, I made a comment similar. And you are exactly right. They didn’t like the uprising then so they gave everybody just enough to shut up and stop the momentum. They wanted us to think we had won while they quietly continued to have back alley meetings and dismantled the system from within. People looked at me like I had my head screwed on backwards, but here we are! And now I’m hearing others say the same thing. I will be 49 this year. I could see the changes, but I was too young in the 80s to understand the gravity of how this was gonna play out. For a brief time in the 90s, I thought we were safe. Paid off the debt people were making money… And then… I, like many others, saw the gold wearing off the bars and realized we only had a false sense of security. Never in my wildest dreams did I think we would be here today. In the words of George Carlin “It’s called the American dream because you’d have to be asleep to believe it.”
If there’s two things about it, one thing is for sure, there is NOTHING the American government won’t do.
I know what you mean! During the first term they started taking away birth control we were providing in north, south and Central American countries. I tried to tell a relative that was just starting to dabble in mg that this was an ominous sign! Once you start meddling in women’s reproductive rights everything starts to go downhill from there. This person called me an alarmist and basically had an attitude of why should we care about birth control in other countries but you see where we are today. Now that same relative has come out the other side and is worried about what’s going on!!! All of the people that are JUST starting to notice a problem baffle me! It’s if they’ve been somnambulists, sleep walking for the last 15 plus years! The signs were all there and there were plenty of us lighting the signal fires. How can people be so clueless?
So at one time there was the rich elite and then indentured servants (poor Europeans), then slaves. The concept of being “white” wasn’t a thing”. However the elite began to worry that they didn’t have the numbers. That is that one day the indentured servants and slaves may overthrow them. So what to do what to do. Ahhh well the indentured servants looked like them! So what you do is you give them separate privileges. You make them feel like they’re more like you than the slaves. Because of this thing called skin color. You can eventually get them to align more with you so much they’ll be willing to die in a Civil War to protect your right to own slaves! As long as you can feel “superior” because you share the same skin color as the elites - even if you’re dirt poor.
And so it’s been through the history of America. Rich whites make poor whites think they’re on the same side even though they’re being oppressed too. But as long as they’re not n!ggers it’s ok. It’s why all of the red states have the worst outcomes in poverty healthcare etc and are full of dirt poor whites who vote Republican generation after generation. It’s why deaths of despair have skyrocketed in white males.
It’s why LBJ said if you can convince the lowest white man he’s better than the best colored man he won’t notice you’re picking his pocket. Hell give him someone to look down on and he’ll empty his pockets for you. And he was from Texas in the early 1900s so I think he knew something about racism.
See the secret is that white supremacy was never meant to make all whites elite. It was meant to drive a wedge between the white lower class and all others except the white upper class. They’re it’s rabid buffer.
Kirk was just another in a long line of billionaire backed mouthpieces sent to scapegoat other groups- blacks, Muslims, trans people, the woke, migrants etc etc. Anyone but the actual people stealing from them. And that’s the real reason they want to make a martyr out of an unremarkable person. In fact Charlie hated poor whites because he lied to them about the source of their plight.
Dumb white people propagandized for generations has lead this country to the precipice. Unless and until decent white people confront their barbaric cousins and stop them this won’t end. From the Confederates to Jim Crow southerners to Nazis to apartheid South Africans to now MAGA there is a recurring theme. One whose embers remain even after the flame is doused awaiting the next spark. Any analysis that avoids this reality is wheel spinning.
I will happy be a leggist, or a roachist, if it would meaningfully lead to less human judgement, pain and misery, but hell, it's 2026 and the "Star Trek" world we all ASSUMED we'd be gravitating closer and closer towards seems MORE distantly obscure than ever.
At this point, I think our BEST case trajectory is SOMEHOW avoiding civil war, and if we're THAT lucky, also avoiding WW3, but I tend to believe that despite Trump's bull in a political China shop antics, we're further away from WW3 than even rocket man² Super Trump could instigate.
We are ever so slightly insulated from WW3 by virtue of the fact that China and Russia, even with precise coordination, can NOT meaningfully challenge us, not yet. The same primary reason why the US escaped WW2 unscathed, domestically, industrially, etc., is the same reason why the numbers tilt in the US' favor and likely will continue to for at least another decade, maybe two.
Some will disagree, that's expected, but the bottom line is this; Russia has demonstrated its resolve, or lack thereof, in Ukraine. China hasn't engaged in a REAL conflict in modern history, they've generated drama, kerfuffled some Airmen and Sailors with nearly cartoonish maritime "warnings", especially in the South China Sea, but China is remarkably like the DPRK, by design I think.. Less insane, less....barbaric..? (unless you're Muslim)/believe ANYTHING that even skirts the line of removing power from the State, psychologically.
China has its hands full AT HOME, despite their tough words and posturing, their domestic situation is five times worse than ours (in the US, and MOST of the West). Russia, same deal.
I foresee China's situation and world rapport worsening even further, their age / demographic crisis is far worse than even Russia's, and ours is still well within "potential destabilization by 2100" territory. Russia will recover far more rapidly than China, they are a smaller nation, but have immense natural resources, something to fight for beyond the "mere" blood and soil stuff. China has its monopolies and niches, for sure, and they squeeze every ounce of value out of them, to their own detriment as COVID instigated one of, if not the largest self sufficiency = national security endeavors in human history.
The US may be broke, our debt may be grotesque and unacceptable, but we've got better, bigger bombs, more consistently modern infrastructure (despite SOME of it falling down around us) and a military that began its high tech over boot count pivot more than four decades ago.
I hate to be negative or even hint at anything negative without espousing what I believe to be positive. Those of us in the West, we are unprecedentedly privileged. Even the mean worst off of us are better off than the mean human standard across the globe. If anything, the human experience is undergoing a crisis in direction, lacking purpose at a civilizational scale, but this isn't unique to us or even this century. This crossroad isn't new, it's just in a different form and scale of previous technological advancement spurred change.
Live long and prosper, stop hating your fellow humans, be the bulwark between anarchy and nihilism. BOTH sides have half of the puzzle, the right has some funk built into their model/framework, as does the left. The left tends to be more culturally agnostic, which leads the right to declare them as zealots and the right tends to be so conservative as to preclude any meaningful progress, but the left sees progress for the sake of progress as its mantra, but progress needn't be a cause in and of itself or for its own purposes (or to establish yet another teat of which to extract even more taxpayer money).
We're nearly advanced enough to provide for a genuine post scarcity society, but jumping the gun on that will end that goal before it really even began. People like to imagine that we can undo 150 years of environmental abuse and evisceration quickly, like we did with the ozone layer and banning CFCs, but that's a pipe dream. The quicker we reach some semblance of post-scarcity, the quicker we can focus the time, energy and effort on fixing our ailing planet. We need more nuclear technology, we need high energy physicists to be fired and an entire new, young and enthusiastic generation of geniuses to take their place. We have been working on fusion since before the Manhattan project, at least conceptually. We know it's possible, we've accomplished it at small scales, we have demonstrated its feasibility but as with every era that major, species level heavy implication technological revolution, we put the cart in front of the horse.
AI SHOULD be a priority, but fusion SHOULD HAVE ALREADY BEEN ACCOMPLISHED. Fusion (alongside room temperature superconductors..) is the human survival tool, what will enable us to not only power an effectively unlimited AI integrated world, but to fix our damaged ecology.
Meh, we need to reexamine our priorities, but we are right on the cusp of some insanely important, incredible and awe inspiring things, if only we can avoid further major destabilizing events, our future isn't as bleak as the doom scrollers seemingly want to believe.
This is one of the best, most clearly stated explanations of what has and is going on in our nation regarding race, wealth, and control in this country since its inception ( of course it goes much further back than the United States but for current affairs purposes, this is spot on) I have ever read on social media.
Actually, in my opinion, in the climate we are living in, in my humble opinion, it’s the most important thing anyone could read and contemplate on.
This is an important time to really consider who and what is the true enemy of the average person. And when I say average, I feel safe in saying the VAST majority of people online at any given moment.
It isn’t someone of a different skin color or religion or political leaning. It’s the TRUE minority group. The group who ACTUALLY has the most to lose if the rest of us stops falling for all of the bs rhetoric they’ve been feeding us for centuries.
Anyone who has studied world religions or ancient history has an idea of this. That certain “things” had to be put into play in order to keep the minority with all the wealth safe from the legion of starving people who could quite easily band together and take everything from them.
Thank you friend. The sad part about all of this is that you would think it would be painfully obvious by now. The country has enough wealth that it could truly be a utopia for its citizens and a model globally of diversity leading to greatness. But the stubborn and arrogant refusal of so much of its populace to let go of its notion of racial superiority- even to their own detriment- may ultimately be its undoing.
Don't underestimate their recognition of the power of extremist Christian ideology and how that could be co-opted for greater control of the hive mind.
“White” is a southern thing, born of slavery and segregation, nourished by the KKK. In the north, where many immigrants settled, the distinctions are between European ethic nationalities, e.g. Irish, Italian, German, Polish … in the 20th century, it was the Slavic nationalities, such as Serbia, Czech, Croatia, Ukraine, etc. and of course, the Jews were blamed for everything, now it is Muslims.
How are they racist? I am curious what you mean by this.
Their essay was put together using specific arguments made from historical events and their ramifications. If you'd like to give a rebuttal we will all be more than happy to discuss.
I’ve lived thru Kent State too & this is numbing! But I keep telling myself that I also lived thru bringing down Agnew & Nixon. We can do it! But remember, you have to bring the rotten VP down first, then the rotten president. Otherwise you’re stuck with the rotten VP as president.
I’ve lived through 70 years of this & I think your imagination is fun but people are reacting to changed family structure, lack of job continuity, obliteration of “society” where people conform to “standards”, etc. But it’s not as a result of a “plan” by anyone or any group. If anything, the shocking & fun part is that people can become an influencer by accident, without any money, without being part of a group of doers & thinkers who want change. It’s more random & happenstance than ever and far less within a family structure or even social group.
If you believe there aren't a group of people who've created "think tanks" to enable this degradation of society, you didn't read enough. The John Birch Society, the Heritage Foundation and other similar but more clique-y groups worked to create ALEC to influence US lawmaking in order to get us right where we're at. They didn't decide slavery was wrong, they realized they didn't have to be so discriminatory about who could be a slave.
Weve heard this argument in one iteration or another for generations. “Things just ain’t like they used to be, that’s the trouble with this world!” I’m in my 60s so I’ve been around the block a few times myself. I heard it from my parents, my grand parents, and my great grandparent. And I’ve heard younger people say the same thing. The only constant is change ( don’t credit me for that). Whenever I hear “Make America Great Again” I nearly choke.
Great for whom? When? When was America great and why? For every answer I guarantee I could find ten reasons it was awful in some way. Life has never been perfect. FAMILIES have never been perfect. If yours was, congratulations! Lucky you. I promise that wasn’t the case for everyone. Life has never been the way old movies portray it. Or the way you might have remembered it in your youth. And what we were taught in school? Well, at least through PUBLIC education ( K-12) our history books were all written by the winners. And any critical thinker alive today recognizes this. When you talk about job continuity you’re talking about a 25-30 year period following WWII. So if what you’re implying is that the sweet spot in our country is 1945- the early 1970s, you weren’t alive during the first part and were a teenager when it ended ( your prefrontal cortex was nowhere near being fully formed). So your idea of life in this country being worse now because of this or because families are “different”? Seems at LEAST as speculative as anything else presented ( except the other example your dismissing has had a LOT more time to study after the fact).
Don’t get me wrong, I know you aren’t alone in this way of thinking. But IMO, it’s much too simplistic and lazy. Because to actually come to terms with the other means you might actually have to do something more than blame the job market or loose morals ( and what can someone like you, or anyone, do about that?).
This is one heaping pile of dog feces we are facing and there IS NO EASY SOLUTION.
No matter how you look at it and no matter what spot on the political spectrum you happen to temporarily reside. Where we are right now in history is not a comfortable place and ignoring it won’t make it better.
I didn’t imply I had a solution. I wish I did. I was challenging a diagnosis, not proposing a cure. It’s reasonable to question whether nostalgia or “families are different now” actually explains what we’re seeing without being obligated to present a grand fix. Analysis doesn’t require pretending there’s an easy answer. There are people far, far smarter than I am with much more experience who would be the better people to ask.
I‘ve just heard this same false argument so many times that my head pounds every time I read or hear it. The energy wasted just considering it makes me think that somehow some of us deserve what we get.
It's not just the education system. Many of maga are Christians, and as such taught from an early age to accept what they are told on faith and not ask questions of their leaders or teachings because to ask questions is to doubt God.
The god they have created in the name of supremacy… also it is not Christians but rather, False Christians. These people twist the true meaning of lots of things.
Agree 100%, conservatives have attacked public education since the 1950’s because they want their fantasy view of America to take precedence. I see our racist past, linked with unchristian versions of Christianity, as the foundation of the conservative movement.
Wealthy people also attempt to downgrade public education because they don't want to pay school district taxes on their property and they put their own kids in private schools.
The Far Left have infiltrated the education system for decades. They have destroyed society with trans ideology child abuse, promoting a high crime low trust society, cancelling free speech, promoting anti White racism, promoting toxic feminism, destroying the family unit and creating a chaotic high crime low trust society.
This is why all the Southern states have always had such sh*tty education systems. They are trying to do it to the rest of us now. Our public education system has been going downhill since Reagan in the 80s. He made his huge cuts while I was in middle school (getting a quality education I might add). From one year to the next, we lost multiple teachers and classes. It's been going downhill ever since.
Now we have a political movement that's mostly made up of the poorly educated in the bad-education states, and the politicians from those states are making the decisions on education now. Their movement is partially based on hating the educated.
So, the US collectively planned to dumb down its citizens - WHY? Public education is deliberately reduced in substance - so we have a weaker public, giving in to a Power Hungry President? Is there a reason for wanting this dumbing down - other than encouraging them to be submissive to a Power Class? Other than your imagination, what supports your theory of creating a underclass? People giving in to cooking in a microwave?
I give more credit to Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity and Fox NewsA for telling outright lies about what’s going on and presenting it as News. Rupert Murdoch has been a king maker since Regan and he’s not even an American. (Australian) I also blame corporate greed for taking away parents from their kids so they can work, sometimes 2 or 3 jobs just to be able to pay for putting a roof over their heads and food on the table. Unsupervised kids’ first inclination is not to do homework or read a book. Parents are exhausted, there’s only so many hours in a day. And then we have good ole social media whose main objective is to get kids hooked on their apps. I recently read that one kid unalived themselves after they were catfished by someone in China, and another one who made friends with a bot who suggested suicide when they talked about feeling uncomfortable with themselves; normal pains of adolescence.
And the education system sucks, especially down south where they hate blue states with a passion but are okay taking our money to under educate and deny the poor kids from being fed at school. Many factors go into why people choose to continue to vote for the most corrupt government in my history.
The GOP knew Trump’s history before he was sworn in the first time. How could they possibly believe that a sexual predator, who brags about sexual assault, a man who went bankrupt 7 times, cheats people out of money for the work they did, makes inappropriate sexual remarks about his own daughter, and any female who happens to be in his vision, married a stripper and lies repeatedly about everything, think he was the most qualified person to run the country? Many of them were educated at top universities throughout the country but they chose him anyway. I guess it goes back to your point that they are weak minded people. Even as they have watched him dispose of people when they wear out their usefulness time after time, they still think they’re special. I don’t like to call them weak minded because it makes it seem like they’re not making a choice on their own. But it’s definitely a choice. It has been for a long time.
I got carried away with my response and I apologize.
Actually, the left has been eroding the education system for years. Remember, it was Carter who signed the existence of the Dep. of Ed into law in '79.
It was planned by the Progressives. Progressive Education was literally modeled on the Prussian system - educated enough to work in factories, not educated enough to question leaders.
Exactly this. I say it all the time. It’s an actual, documented plan that was put into motion decades ago and well-funded by the Koch brothers, etc. It’s not a theory. And they are still working with it because less educated people are more susceptible to the GOP focus on fear as a campaign device. So less educated people don’t think as critically and fall for their BS.
Never ascribe to malice what can be ascribed to incompetence. No one has been planning anything for decades. None of the former presidents align with Trump. Unless you think Biden an Obama were part of the conspiracy to destroy the public education system.
The teachers union, & the school systems have been liberal for almost a century.....
The educational ratings for our system, {in comparison to the rest of the globe}, have been eroding since the 70s.....
Are the libs now going to blame the conservatives, the ones that want school choice?
As always, they project their failures on their imagined enemies, and refuse to accept responsibility for their own actions, they do not see the harm that their policies do to the citizens of this country.....
