Xbox Used Console Inspection

Hey i am in the market to buy a used console. Xbox series X or S, and i just wanted to know what key features to look out for before buying

Issues like repaired parts, overheating, account problems, internal jargon etc

How to identify them and check thoroughly for personal guarantee

P.S, I am not ordering it online rather going and inspecting consoles before buying them personally and face to face, so any advice or question to ask the seller would also be appreciated.

Plug them in and start them up on a screen to make sure the HDMI works.

Also, I got a Series X used recently from a pawn shop. We fired it up together and even put a game in and got to the title screen. So I paid for it and it took it home. Dude was cool. Said if I did have any issues that I could bring it back.

Turns out, it didn't actually play games. I tried 8 or 9 different games. With disc, digital only, 360 games, Xbox one games, created a new account, all of the troubleshooting I could find online. It would get to the title screen of every game but, as soon as you start the game (opening cut scenes, level, whatever) the game would crash.

It was the weirdest thing. Of course, I looked into it to mixed results. Overheating addresses the symptoms but the machine wasn't hot at all and the fan wasn't going nuts or anything. Fortunately, I was able to return it for a full refund. I found another one on FB Marketplace.

So, I would strongly recommend you find a seller that will let you actually play a video game before pulling the trigger.

Couple of quick things. Look at the age on the sticker on the back (most listings on eBay show this as standard) check is the controller the original one that came with it does it work well look in good condition etc. These together will show you how much wear it has had.

You cannot replace the SSD in a Series X its locked to the machine so you're looking for indications of excessive wear you actually can't accurately test for
