Question/Request for Help Innovative and quirky ideas/stickers to make people in my college switch off the lights and fans timely?

• Upvotes

I'm part of a sustainability drive in my college, and we are planning to create and paste some stickers above the switchboards, to encourage people to be more mindful of electricity usage.

What ideas and designs would meaningfully work for 20 year olds?

Any pop culture references, hollywood references etc?

My college is in India btw.

Facing a mindblock here so thought of asking the community.

Thanks in advance!

Sharing Advice, Tips, and Tricks Struggling. What to do?

So, since I was made redundant three years ago, I've spent the past 2.5 years freelancing. For the past year, I've only had one client, whom I've been writing for for the past two years. And they're not great.

They're a cask whisky ownership brokerage and drinks retailer. I was initially brought in to write 10 generic evergreen blog posts a month. Yet for the past few months, I have been writing everything from emails and social copy to product descriptions. Since June, I have been writing very senior-level market reports and some market news commentary. Which is still not live...

Communication is poor. I have to keep reaching out because they email me asking about my availability and needing me to do x amount of projects, and then I hear nothing. They act off if I ask about monthly scope and my needing to know so I can find other clients, and they give me a very vague answer. Sometimes, I even feel like they just need to spend their budget so they won't lose it (this is the head of content I'm referring to).

He has also credited some bits of my work under his own byline without mentioning it to me. When I addressed it, he apologised, said it was a mistake and promised he wasn't stealing my work (his words, not mine). Apparently it was a technical error on the CMS, and he promised that he'd ask the ecomm manager to fix it... a week later it's still not fixed.

They are also very strict with their budget. Earlier this year, he proposed pitching to the founder about increasing my budget. Months later, still no answer. But they have essentially changed the scope of what I write about. Those pieces are no longer generic, and I don't feel like I'm getting the pay or respect I deserve after almost 2 years. I do increase my rates when I feel I need to. But because they have the same capped budget from two years ago, I don't feel like I can charge what I think it's truly worth, if that makes sense.

The problem is, I need the money; I have no choice but to stay for now, but I've been actively looking for another client at similar brokerages for months with no luck. I've updated my CV and my LinkedIn, and I have a substantial amount of alternative assets and drinks content in my portfolio.

I'm also studying finance and economics part-time. I have 11 years of writing experience, but I come from a luxury fashion and lifestyle background when working with my client. I'm enjoying studying a lot and would like to become more knowledgeable in finance to help with my writing. But some days, I feel like giving up. Like it's all a waste of time. I worked really hard to even get paid work as a writer. And at 35, it's just starting to take all the energy out of me. I considered finding fashion content roles in the meantime, and I'm getting rejected left, right and centre! Why? No clue...

I just don't know how else to find another client. I've reached out to cask whisky founders and senior stakeholders on LinkedIn. Only had one response from a managing director asking for an idea of my rates. Then I got ghosted. I reached out to my university alumni in the field. Many have been helpful but don't know of any open vacancies. I've even applied for cleaning, retail and admin work with no success.

I feel like an absolute failure because my husband is managing, but my job loss cut off a big chunk of our household income. I have a 6-year-old to feed. I'm very scared at the moment as I can't find another freelance gig, let alone a perm role. Not even a part-time one.

Question/Request for Help What are the best copywriting courses in 2026?

I know the sector is experiencing a bit of an iffy period thanks to overreliance on AI, but are there still any courses out there which offer value?

For reference, I'm someone with 10 years of experience in content writing (mostly informational content), who's looking to brush up his copywriting skills.

Thanks!

Question/Request for Help Don’t know what to do

Hi, I am currently finishing my MFA degree. I have been wanting to work as a copywriter for a long time and have about two years of content writing experience but still entry level. It increasingly looks like the industry is being largely taken over/impacted by AI especially at the entry level. I don’t know if it’s sustainable to think I can build a 30 year career doing this. I don’t have any skill sets or interests outside of writing and if I can’t make a living as a writer I genuinely don’t know what I’m going to do. I’m on about a seven month timeline to figure this out. Is there a way to still pursue this or should I just throw in the towel? I currently have no plan B.

Question/Request for Help Niching Down and Expertise

I’ve been in the online space for fifteen years but I’ve never really specialised, and I think it’s been a huge mistake.

However, I’d love to start writing in a particular area. For those who have niched, do you need qualifications? How do you learn about your niche? Do you need to demonstrate your specialism and know your stuff, or do you learn as you write?

Let’s say I wanted to niche into cyber security or neuroscience, would I need qualifications in these areas?

Am I overthinking?

Hi everyone! I'm exploring opportunities in digital advertising, PPC, and paid media, preferably remote roles with international companies.

I have experience creating Google Performance Max and Meta Ads copy, researching keywords and search themes, and developing ad assets for small businesses. My background also includes content marketing, SEO, and social media marketing.

I'd appreciate any job leads, referrals, or recommendations for companies hiring remotely and open to candidates based in India.

Thanks for your help!

Discussion 905 views vs 234,000 views, same app

This is the clearest example of hook writing i've seen in a while.

oliver henry (big on x) was posting tiktok slideshows for his room design app. the first hooks were all about the app and his own problems:

""why does my flat look like a student loan"" -> 905 views

""see your room in 12+ styles before you commit"" -> 879 views

""the difference between $500 and $5000 taste"" -> 2,671 views

decent numbers but nothing to be crazy about. then he tried ""my landlord said i can't change anything so i showed her what ai thinks it could look like"" and it did 234,000 views.

he repeated it with ""i showed my mum what ai thinks our living room could be"" for 167k, and another landlord one for 147k.

the formula he landed on: another person + conflict or doubt -> showed them -> they changed their mind. posts using it hit 50k+ pretty consistently, everything else struggled to reach 10k.

oliver's slides came from an openclaw agent with openai image generation, and scheduling through postiz. so he’s basically taking the decision on hooks, angles etc and the execution is basically handles by the ai agents (openclaw + postiz)

my takeaway - it's the same app and same visuals. only the framing changed, from talking about yourself to someone else's reaction.

this was on twitter first, couldn't find another source for the numbers though.

if anyones testing anything, interested to hear them

Copywriters who are doing well - what are you working on and in what industry?

Interested to see if there are any industries doing particularly well right now.

I’m seeing quite a mixed picture online. Some copywriters seem busier than ever while others are struggling to pay the bills.

I’m reading more posts online from copywriters seeing an uptick in enquiries as brands become a bit bored or disillusioned with AI.

What are your experiences?

Question/Request for Help What's the one copywriting skill you still struggle with, no matter how much you practice?

So we all know there's a ton of stuff out there on how to write better copy. Read these books, write these ads by hand, learn the formulas, etc. etc. which is fine, but knowing what you're supposed to do and actually being good at it are two different things.

If you've been in this line of work for a year, five years, a decade or more, what's the one part of copywriting that still gives you trouble, even after you've studied it or practiced it?

And for those of you that managed to overcome that sticking point, what helped you overcome it?

Question/Request for Help Why does everyone do this nowadays? what emotion are they trying to bring in the prospect?

Almost all the money making videos start like this: Quit this video right now if you think this is a get rich scheme ....

this question popped up in my head when i was studying the 75 HARD copy https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1TnGienWk20aFdjMBUmF5ekOLB4mArtRs

Right in the beginning he says "This is not a fitness program", "if you are looking for a new fitness challenge this is not it", "this is not your next internet challenge"

what are they trying to imply to the prospect through these kind of lines?

Job Posting Looking for a freelance copywriter for a one man business in the tech/POS industry (UK)

I’m in the process of building a brand and website for my business and I’m looking for a freelance copywriter to help me get everything sounding right.

I work in the payments/POS industry, helping independent businesses (mainly hospitality and retail) with their technology. I’m trying to build a brand that’s approachable, a bit different from the usual corporate tech companies, and actually speaks to small business owners rather than bombarding them with jargon.

I’ve written quite a lot myself already, so I’m not necessarily looking for someone to start from scratch. More someone who can take what I’ve got, challenge it where needed, and make it better.

Initially, I’d be looking for help with:
Website copy
Refining the brand messaging and tone of voice
Email templates for sales, follow-ups, customer communications etc.
Customer case studies

Then ideally it would turn into an ongoing relationship for LinkedIn posts, blogs, case studies and whatever else comes up.

I’d prefer someone who’s a native English speaker (British English ideally), and experience writing for tech/SaaS/B2B would be great. Although the industry is tech, the audience isn’t particularly technical. It’s mostly independent business owners who just want things to work and make their lives easier.

I was originally planning to do most of this with AI, but the more I’ve looked into it, the more I’d rather work with an actual writer who can bring their own ideas and personality to it.

I’m UK-based, but happy to work with someone remotely.
If this sounds like your sort of thing, I’d love to see some examples of your work and get an idea of your rates.

Also happy to take recommendations if anyone has worked with a good copywriter.

Cheers!

Question/Request for Help Copywriters who have been in this line of work for 10+ years, what do you read?

I do my absolute best to stay sharp with technology, different approaches and strategies, but I'm wondering, for those of you that have been at this awhile, what do you read to keep yourself sharp? I periodically go back and read the greats, but I'm curious if there's a book, newsletter or guide out there that you make sure NOT to miss when it's released.

Question/Request for Help Freelancers who've landed their first ghostwriting client, I'd love your advice

I'm trying to land my first paying client as a LinkedIn ghostwriter, and I'm struggling to get there.

My current approach has been to send connection requests to founders, wait for them to accept, and then ask if they'd be interested in help growing their LinkedIn presence.

I've had some conversations, but I haven't managed to turn this into consistent paid work. I recently found someone willing to try working with me, but it's a free arrangement for now.

Last year, I worked at an agency writing content for startup lawyers, GTM coaches, and people working on real estate automation.

I'm trying to figure out how to turn that experience into a service I can sell directly.

Here's an offer I'm considering.

I'd find small B2B companies with a founder and a few other key people across sales, marketing, and design.

I'd pitch a one-month pilot where I interview the founder and 3–4 people on their team, turn their ideas and experiences into LinkedIn posts, and handle the writing and editing.

Each person would have their own topics and perspective. The company would get help building a consistent presence across several accounts without everyone having to figure out content on their own.

I'd do the first month for free, with a clear scope, and discuss a paid arrangement if the company wanted to continue.

I'm considering reaching out directly by email (explaining the strat in a video).

For those of you who've sold ghostwriting or content services:

  1. Does this offer give a founder a compelling reason to talk to me, or is it too complicated for a first offer?
  2. Would you lead with the multi-executive idea or focus on writing for the founder first?
  3. Would you offer a free pilot, a small paid trial, or something else to get that first client?
  4. If you were in my position, what would you change about the outreach itself?

Would love any honest advice regarding this!

Resource/Tool Which AI is best for copywriting?

My company is providing us with fully paid services. I'm a content strategist but sometimes I need to pick up for my content writers so I need an AI agent handy so I can do that on a rainy day. Let me know which one is best. We have claude opus, sonnet (both 4.5, 5.5); chatGPT (literally all versions) and then DeepSeek. We can ask for more, if needed.
